A different sport I know but Italy and Germany win world cups for a reason. Poor defences will always be found out in the end!

1 o'clock Saturday is such a stupid time for a game. Pity they are fixing games to suit those sitting at home rather than those who want to attend. Thurles has lights, why not 5 and 7 throw ins?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,541 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Motion needed 60% to pass but only got 57.4%! It needed 29 votes but only got 27 out of 47

and that's the problem, letting tv dictate throw in times. hate this recent idea of every game needs to be shown live instead of fixing games so people can attend. Regardless of the round, the main hurling competition shouldn't play 2nd fiddle to the secondary football competition. Shouldn't be worrying about going on at the same time as other sports either, especially if there is no Irish involvement.

its a total joke , but apparently its a big no no in the media world to be competing against rugby and soccer , any time a league game was played the same time as an irish international in the 6 nations the media are up in arms over it , there is far too much noise being made by armchair supporters and media people alike , weather its the split season or given out when a munster game is on at the same time as a gaa game

there is no consideration for supporters that might have to work saturday either , 5 and 7 would have been ideal times for people that had to get off work early

the vote tonight was swung by a podge collins gpa vote and the clare county board vote , other wise this game would have been switched to the sunday , derek kent is not a friend of clare gaa there was no way our lads were going to bow to him

You are spot on. Two goals at the end were given away far too easily. And we must remember while Offaly are making big strides this year they were in the Joe McDonagh and should be well below our level no disrespect to them.

If we switch off like that against Dublin it's curtains for us I feel. I think they will learn and address those issues but very worried if we beat Dublin what the other remaining teams could do to the Cork backline.

everyone knows about the backs situation in cork , but fair play to pat ryan for just going for it , its the way the cork club championship has been played out over the last few years ,cork have serious weapons up front why play a sweeper to cuprb a slight insecurity within the team when you can enhance a teams strength

its got the crowed back on side which is huge too

Cork got the most favourable draw in the football, Louth away next week in the preliminary quarter final.

    Best we could have gotten.

  • Registered Users Posts: 401 ✭✭Innish_Rebel

For sure - but then Louth are probably thinking the same… We've had a couple of very close games over the last few years so neither side will fear the other.

Think it will be on in Navan

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,175 ✭✭✭munsterlegend

That match was going through the motions stuff. Tipp conceded 3 18 last year to offaly at a similar stage. I think players will be much more switched on next weekend. Yes defensively we do concede a lot alright and will need to be much tighter v Limerick if get there.

The match against Dublin gets the early throw in time, 1:15pm

Banking on just outscoring the opposition while neglecting the defence is not the right way to go about things. Newcastle United under Kevin Keegan springs to mind here.

Louth did run Dublin close in the Leinster final, but once we're switched one we should be too good for them imo.

1:15 in Thurles is bonkers. The trains are booked out up until 2pm since last week meaning some people are badly caught now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,039 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

Trains all booked up for the semi final too

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,951 ✭✭✭JanuarySnowstor

A joke of a time for the Cork Dublin hurling game!! How insulting that all Cork matches bar one were on the money spinning gaago and now this!! They really seem to have it out for Cork!!

Nevertheless it won't bother us!! Cork will prevail

What to do about Ciaran Joyce?

If he starts it should be in the half back line for me.

But who loses out? Downey did very well at centre back against Lim and Tipp.

Joyce will start at midfield. Downey is doing well at centre back.

I still can't believe this game is going ahead on a Saturday at 13:15!

It's the All Ireland Hurling quarter finals like!!

And to top it off the Feile Na Gael is on in Wexford on the Saturday!

Absolutely ridiculous. Hurling people in Wexford must be bulling!

Not to mind the lads involved with Midleton who are repping Cork at the Feile.

All so the match won't clash with the soccer and rugby and lord preserve the Tailteann cup!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭mossie

Tailteann cup players are just as entitled as anyone else to be on TV.

  • Registered Users Posts: 183 ✭✭Bot1

    Sure.

    So what?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,192 ✭✭✭mossie

Just that your comment came across as Tailteann cup don't matter. If Cork were in it you might think differently. We came very near it last year. Sure 1.15 is a crazy time but no reason it should go to Tailteann cup over hurling.
