Missed 2 putts from 3 feet for pars today

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,749 ✭✭✭coillcam

I can't imagine what sort of mental torture the putter is giving him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

Even when putting or playing badly he’s always talking up his game. Most pros are the same. Do they believe what they say because the sports sic told them it’s true

PGA really wanted Shane around for the weekend so they gave him an extra hole to try and make the cut.

So it wasn't just my eyesight going dodgy last night!

    Another penalty drop on 11

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,242 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

He shouldn't have got out of bed this morning.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,026 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Absolute nightmare. I'd rather he had it today than next week though.

    Round of 85.

The swear jar would need emptying during the round

Not the kind of preparation needed the week before a US Open.

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.

+ 3 tru 9,signs not good, tough course and his confidence is low, fear he will be out of it by end of day but heres hoping…

    Par golf all the way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

good golf to almost certainly make d cut,got at least 4 putts for par over 10 feet ,unusual for him but was badly needed,a very disciplined round and will do his confidence alot of good after last week's travails.

Good level par round today, jumped 40 odd places. Tough going out there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

same again tomorrow and could make top 10/15 which wud be great.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

Shane -1 for last 2 rounds is fantastic effort, must be top 5 for that, considering his finish last week this is a big comeback and huge for his confidence.

Great round today but a slow start again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

True,he needs to bring his 2nd round in at 8 under for the day at least, and more importantly follow up with a decent sub par round in rd 3.His problem is he is ying and yang ,needs more level scoring sub par ,on any day he can go toe to toe with any player ,needs to extend that beyond one or two rounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 257 ✭✭Dan Steely

Did he play on after the lightning warning? Any penalty if he did?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

Bad 3 putt on the first

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

Jaysus, going nicely ,2 under for day and 3 putts from 19 feet for double

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

A common thing unfortunately when he gets that close

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,468 ✭✭✭boardise

Rallied well for a top ten and trousered 520,000 bucks.

Hopefully he can hold this level of form for The Open.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

yes in fairness the wheels could have come off after Double ,but he battled well for top 10 finish, good signs, hope he doesnt go off during 3 week break.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

    I am guessing Shane's schedule now will be the Open,Olympics,Fedex events,British Masters ???,Irish Open,BMW,Dunhill,Abu Dhabi,DP World .

Any changes or additions to above?

Is he not playing the Scottish Open?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,431 ✭✭✭dublin49

no mention of him on DP site and the 3 weeks off would take him up to Open so suspect not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,836 ✭✭✭Trampas

Strange decision not to play again until the open. Time will tell if correct decision or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,280 ✭✭✭techdiver

Going along nicely. Tied for the lead after 8 on -3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,564 ✭✭✭Bobson Dugnutt

Great distance par save as well. Links, bad weather, slow greens is going to suit the big man.

Putting into a bucket for pars

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,281 ✭✭✭big_drive

Regardless of easier evening conditions bogey free golf around that course is super stuff, great start to hopefully a great weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 347 ✭✭Scrabbel

What a great start! Only Justin Rose so far has also gone around bogey free. Hopefully when the odd bogey or two arrive tomorrow it won't stall his momentum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,281 ✭✭✭big_drive

Big thing for Shane is that he knows how to win in this type of weather and course

Looked at ease and holed some big putts when needed. If that flat stick remains cooperative he's got a huge chance.
