Irish people don't want an alternative. Any time an alternative appears it's the same cynicism of what is their solution. From what I’ve seen he’s a bit of character…. Has some very legitimate, common sense and desirable views and others which are a bit out there. In a time where common sense is not that common he could prove popular but I dunno he has next to no experience of politics.

maybe 10 years ago he’d have had an opportunity with more time, for people to get to know him, a more youthful man but he seems to mean well, just I’m doubting if he has the sort of time on his side to make an impact with a new party.

Michelle Smith didn't run for Independent Ireland. She was a regular Independent. (II ran Mulooly in MNW, where she ran).

Had to google him, vaguely recognised the name, but couldn't place him. I did recognise him when I saw him, but not what I was expecting to see, given his right leaning views, especially on emigration.

At the end of the day a vote for D4 is the best, dont need to worry what any party does or doesnt do or whether housing or services work or not. who cares? once they dont raise taxes too much

If you took some time to learn the origin of that joke you would be less inclined to follow all these far right clowns and their nonsense.

I agree and we're not going to get that from the current lot in power. But if as likely FG are removed next election and given a spell on the side lines, then they'd be likely to harden their stance and try attract this vote. But would they be credible?

There is definitely room for a new centre right party in the vacuum prevailing these days.
