    England hammered.

India will beat SA. Well, god knows what kind of pitch will be on the cards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

That's some trashing, India likely winners but didn't see that level of victory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

bowled out in 16.4 overs…. Only 4 batsmen out of their 11 with scores in double figures for England……

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,161 ✭✭✭wazzzledazzle

How on earth Joe Root is not there and Livingston is , is a travesty

Root, one of the best batsmen in the world and then a slogger in Livingston.

Root is a better bowler also

Two best teams have made the final. Writing was on the wall for England at the odi world cup, they got one more crack at it and despite making the last four, they beat only associates countries and the West Indies. Australia, South Africa and India all beat them. Last game in an England shirt for a lot of them you'd imagine now.

Good performance from India, England just needed to be put out of their misery after 10 overs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,161 ✭✭✭wazzzledazzle

    mo

    Livingston

    Sam Curran

    CJ

surprised if you see any of them 4 again . Debatable on Jonny , but England don’t have the resources available that India would

England were pretty ordinary throughout the tournament and always seemed to have too many bowlers in the side and I counted 7 in this particular team and it left too many not doing much or anything such as Moeen Ali who isn't good enough to bat at number 3 and the same goes for Sam Curran who is never a number 6.

Definitely after the failure of the 50 over World Cup, their white-ball sides do now need a bit of major surgery. The time has come for a number England players mentioned already above and they should integrate the likes of Jamie Smith and Smeed etc. If Adil Rashid retires, he will be incredibly difficult to replace but it does seem like England will need to go through a bit of an evolution.

Should be a decent final, albeit hard to see how India lose. Pakistan their only close game otherwise they have pretty much dominated every game in convincing fashion. Would like to see South Africa do it but I fear their batting line-up might find it difficult as they haven't been wholly convincing. Their bowlers have been generally terrific, so I hope they rise to the challenge on Saturday.

thought the same, far too many bits and pieces cricketers…bits and pieces cricketers are not all rounders…..

Salt, Buttler, Bairstow and Brook…. 4 out of 11 dedicated batsmen, ok Buttler is a wicket keeper too but I’m not counting that.

Moeen, Curran and Livingstone… surely any captain with a flicker of light behind their eyes will consider that overkill….

how did the bits and pieces lads play ? All round shît…

    Firstly with the bat….

    Moeen 8

    Curran 2

    Livingstone 11

From a bowling perspective 1 wicket was taken between 3 of them. And the wicket taker, Curran was thoroughly expensive, went for 25 off his 2 overs.

India win the toss and bat on what appears to be a very good pitch.

Kohli has had a terrible tournament so it would be good timing on his behalf to finally get a score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Kohli off the mark quickly 10 off 3 balls

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

poor bowling by Jansen., disaster of a first over from him. Too full.

Mararaj now short and wide… 😳

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Poor start here for SA. India flying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

    Rohit gone! Big wicket.

Now Pant gone. Great comeback by SA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    two quick wickets.

What the holy fûck are the umpires doing going upstairs for that ? Mr Magoo could tell you that was out…. 😵‍💫 about 6 inches away from the pitch.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Very unusual wicket there where the full ball hit the top edge of Pant's bat.

Strong comeback from South Africa in these early exchanges. India bat incredibly deep, so South Africa need to keep the pressure up. Those wickets will keep that run rate in check at the very least.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Super catch in the deep and that's a big blow for India to lose Yadav.

    34-3.

Axar Patel promoted to number 5 is an interesting decision.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

India 75/3 after 10. Patel and Kohil are setting up for a big finish.

this partnership is hurting The South Africans….

But incredible run out, DeKock 😳☝️

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

De Kock celebrating a possible run out and indeed it is. Double bonus for South Africa as it would have gone for 4 overthrows.

Super knock by Axal Patel. India will still be confident of getting 160-170+.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Kohli hasn't hit a boundary since the 4th over! He has anchored the innings for sure, but he has to surely start hitting out now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Kohli after his glove change going strolling down the middle of the pitch.

Then giving out to the umpires for not calling a wide, it wasn’t a wide.

He’s a great cricketer talent wise but a dose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

8.85 the required. Starting well will be the key…. A couple of early wickets and the required over 10, it will get very challenging….

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,392 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

How are SA against the spinners? Though to be honest as a neutral, don't really care who wins!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

only the quicks bowling so far. 2 overs gone. 11/1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Gillespy

By God are they finally going to it. Fantastic hitting by Klaasen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,174 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Surely even South Africa can't blow it from here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

SA in with a real shot here...

24 runs from the 15th over, down to a run a ball.

    Spinners have been poor.

All the momentum with SA… then the Indian lot send in the physio for Pant, last 5 minutes he has been on the deck,up now… hmmm

It works, first ball back, wicket. 😡 ..Pant with the catch too, even the commentators suggest it was done to “ break momentum “…. Agree 100%, it worked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Gillespy

Bumrah doesn't deserve to lose a third final in twelve months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Jesus this is tight, could go either way. One big over for SA and they have it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

India coming back. SA just a bit defensive to him in that over and a mistimed prod and another wicket falls.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

10 an over from the last two. I’m saying SA by the skin of their teeth. I hope I’m right after that india injury pisstake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Looks like it's gone for SA now...just can't get the ball to the boundary

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

And with that wicket it's done!

Last over and India with more delaying tactics, hate this shower

well, I think the South Africans lost that as much as India won it… what’s the expression, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory ? 🤯. Start of the 16th over SA just needed a run a ball.

Manner in which India engaged in gamesmanship just further consolidates my dislike for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Valiant effort by SA, no choking this time but India are just that bit better than every one else arguably in all forms of the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Gillespy

Too bad. Would have been nice to see them finally get across the line. Klaasen the big wicket that changed the game. India deserve it too though. Some incredible players in that team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,174 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

No choke? They needed 30 from 30 with plenty of wickets in hand and somehow ended up needing 16 off the last over. Not that I pay much attention to it but the Cricinfo win predictor had them at 95% after the 16th over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 262 ✭✭rpirl

A bottle-job, but maybe not the biggest one, they didn't have great strength down the low order and India still had a lot of ammunition. SA hit some great shots but India took wickets at crucial times as well. Reaction from De Kock when Stubbs' wicket fell, he knew the significance of it…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,337 ✭✭✭Gillespy

Whoever lost was going to get the choke label. No doubt some cricket writers were already drafting articles on how Kohli's go slow cost them the final.

But I think India won it. Sky doesn't catch that and it's a totally different game. Miller starts the over with a 6 and you back him to finish it or at least make it very easy for KG and Maheraj. Once gone Bumrah and Arshdeep were superb at the death. Gave nothing to hit.

Klaasen was the big wicket. He was playing so well. A wide nothing ball after a delay he managed to nick through to Pant.
