Looking for “fun” used car - 10-12k budget

Thats what I’m worried about. I’m certainly no mechanic. Should I just be looking for general good service history and receipts for stuff claimed to be done? Check online for common faults and things to go at certain mileages.

Might be worth getting a mechanic to come out and have a look with me , even if it’s a couple hundred quid? Or maybe buy one of those electronic diagnostic things?

I suppose most ‘fun/fast’ cars are going to be somewhat driven hard.

Just looking again. What about and Polo GTI? Not as fun/fast as the ford , but much nicer comfort and build quality. I wouldn’t mind as I will be doing some long drives in it.

I’ve a Soft spot for the 2.0 litre mark 4.5 mondeos haha.

V40 is nice looking , just not mad on the looks and also concerned about maintenance being high as it’s a Volvo.

Not a bad shout either.

Looking at a few high powered diesels too.
Stuff like Golf GTD and Skoda VRS. Probably not as fun as those though.

Seems to be more Polo GTIs on the market that are in better nick than the Fiesta STs , the Fiestas are all modded like crazy as well, I’d rather just stock to be honest

Also second question. What would the ballpark figure be to bring it in from the north?

Good car though , in fairness

great car for the summer , but can imagine it’s a great daily driver , especially for long drives on winter mornings or if you need to bring any amount of luggage. At least a hot hatch you’ve back seats and a boot.

as much as I wish I was 6ft3 , that won’t be an issue haha.

The specs seem interesting as well, only 0-60 in nearly 10seconds , but it must feel very fast.

that’s a good point , keeping in the speed limit it and having fun is hard to do. But I think you’ve a good point there.

I might reconsider it. I suppose it’s at least more practical than a motorbike haha
