I think we are in trouble here, barely competing in the scrum, silly knockons by Georgia getting us out of danger.

    Get Spicer on

Georgians are plenty physical in defence, causing real issues for us.

Naughton looks nifty. He's had a couple wayward passes but isn't afraid to carry to the line and play ball.

We need to be more pragmatic and kick more, not sure if he's just executing the game plan but we're playing in the wrong areas and I don't think he's kicked once in open play.

nothing really that new.. irish props dont start scrummaging for real until they leave school.

I don't know how we win this game

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,685 ✭✭✭Shehal

Is there any team in the world that we don't get beaten in the scrum by…

And Georgia score. Ireland have done this to themselves, wasted 15 minutes at the end of the first half just cheaply giving the ball away which has helped give Georgia the confidence they needed to believe they can win this game and now they've got a try. We allowed them to find their feet and now they are starting to throw punches. As a result this will now be a much tougher game than it needed to be as Georgia will now be more up for it…you can already tell they are much more brutal in contact now than they were around the 25th minute when Ireland were 12-0 up and their heads were down.

starting to think this might have been a poor bet 🙈

irish props are selected for things other than scrummaging that combined with underage scrum rules and we always struggle at scrum at age grade.

Who are the commentators? One of them said he played with Ulster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,248 ✭✭✭theVersatile

Gavin trying his hardest to pull us through this game by himself. He's a serious player

Georgia 12 is tricky to put down

This reminds me alot of the Ireland Italy game in the 6N and funny enough the tackle stats are eerily familiar. Georgia have 135 tackles, 45 tackles more than Ireland, and yet Ireland have missed over double the amount of tackle Georgia have missed.

And even in defence, can we defend any Georgian attack without conceding a penalty? It was the same in the first game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,813 ✭✭✭Utah_Saint

we look lightweight in contact compared to Georgia

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,685 ✭✭✭Shehal

One team is switched on and up for it and the other isn't…sadly we are the later.

And Ireland have no-one to blame but themselves for this, they had Georgia on the rack in the first 25 minutes and instead of putting them away like we did versus Italy we starting getting sloppy and giving the ball away which only gave Georgia more confidence that they could win the game, just like we did against Italy in the 6N…we got away with it that day but it looks like its going to be tough this time.

Going into contact away from supporting players is just not good enough

  • Registered Users Posts: 165 ✭✭johnh6767

Georgia very well coached team exciting to watch too , hopefully Ireland can win this but it’s too tight for fancy

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,685 ✭✭✭Shehal

Aaaaaaand another penalty conceded, just like the first game our discipline was shocking but we got away with it as we were 30 points up.

I honestly would be amazed if we come back from this, this is a 2nd half performance so horrendous that it defies belief…have not lifted a finger this half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,685 ✭✭✭Shehal

Ofcourse we finally win the ball and then as usual no support and get turned over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 165 ✭✭johnh6767

that was a let off. Georgia deserve the win . I still feel we win by 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,685 ✭✭✭Shehal

Lol and then ANOTHER penalty conceded, have we defend a single attack without conceding a penalty?

It would actually be a crime if we win, this 2nd half performance is arguably the worst performance I have ever seen from an Irish u20 side, even worse than the Italy 6N one.
