What batch were you in from stage 2

    batch 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 JamesStevenMc1993

Not Being disrespectful, but it does state in the Garda Trainee booklet to essentially be preparing for the test irrespective. I have been training since November 2023, knowing this was coming up. You have had since February. :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 22 korea 1

hey guys, haven’t done my interview yet still waiting. I know I need to prepare for the competencies but what questions were they also asking yous, if people don’t mind sharing ☺️

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

How long after getting form b were you called?
Also best of luck. Just keep going on the day. Don’t stop until you are told

  • Registered Users Posts: 7 OB4702

Hey guys, I just got my email about the form b 2 days ago. Iv'e sent my passport photo today, so I still haven't got the link with the official form b yet. I'm wondering if this has to be completed and sent in before they arrange the PCT?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

I’m wondering this too. I sent my license photo the day I got that email which was 2 days ago aswell. Still waiting to hear anything back.
    All so frustrating

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

Did you fill out form b? If so how long after that were you called for PCT

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭Murphy2024

No form b doesn’t have to be done before pct is arranged. I sent the photo of my id also the same day as I received the email about completing form B. I have yet to receive the official form B to fill out. But I was emailed this morning about my Pct being next Friday. Honestly not sure how it works.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

sorry now for all the questions. But when did you get the email about sending the pic of your ID ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7 OB4702

Great.. well I'm screwed.. thought I had at least a month 😥

Also I thought we were offered a trial run beforehand as others have mentioned??

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

What happens if you’ve holidays booked / wedding etc during your pct date? Can you push it back or is it strict? Thanks

    my timeline so far

    Application- January 15th 2024

    Stage 1 results - March 28th

    Stage 2 interview - April 17th

Stage 2 interview results- April 30th

    Stage 3 PCT - June 22nd

    medical - June 28th

it’s now July 3th and I’m waiting for the medical clearance and invite to sergeant interview, so it’s taken 6 months roughly from initial application to the medical, I’m 119 OOM for reference but I think that only helps you get to the stages of recruitment faster, once you’ve passed every test I believe it’s just up to vetting, some people shorter some people longer, I really don’t know when I could get called to interview or invite to college hoping all goes well, my guess for myself id say likely the end of the year.

Hi just wondering if it’s possible to defer your pct to a later date I have suffered an injury recently and thought I’d have a lot more time to recover but by the sounds of it I won’t 😟

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 Red devil 77

I'd say it is, I was given the 12th of July as mine but deferred a week due to work, just email them and they will let you know 👍

    Interpersonal Skills

    Exercising Authority

    Conscientiousness

    Resilience

    Using Information & Problem Solving

Have examples for each and be prepared to be interrupted - Focus on the End result, that's what is important.

Questions such as "give me an example of a time you disagreed with a superior, what was the outcome"

    Good Luck!

Has everyone that passed the interview gotten the email from the Garda headquarters already? I placed 46 oom on batch 2, but haven't received any email yet... 😩

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 dil2410

I got my stage 2 results on 25/06/24 and oom 92 and i've also still not gotten anything, i wouldnt panic yet though as a few comments say 2 weeks after results

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 scoobert01

Am I correct in saying that people from batch two have already gotten pct dates? I seen further up someone mentioning that they got theirs for the 12th but that hardly makes sense if people are usually waiting 6 weeks until theirs considering you need a GP cert. I was 26 OOM of batch 2 so I feel like I would have gotten something by now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25 rb99

I’m OOM .. after stage 2 and got given Friday the 12th for my PCT but got it changed to Saturday cause of work ☺️

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 scoobert01

Did you submit ID and then they sent it? I submitted mine yesterday but haven't gotten anything back yet

Did you have to submit your id again? I only submitted id and certs before the interview when they asked for it. Am I supposed to send something else in the meanwhile?

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭Murphy2024

yeah in the email they sent on July 1st about the vetting it asked for you to send your ID again to Garda HR to verify your date of birth. I did that the same day and received an email the next day July 2nd thanking me for sending it then July 3rd I got another email informing me of my PCT next Friday. I’m batch 2 as well if anyone is confused.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 scoobert01

Yea so I got a date there too. I initially sent an email separately to GardaHR with my photo ID and I wasn't getting any word back. I then sent another email replying to the original email that asked for photo ID and I got an email back with a date for the 13th of July less than an hour later. I guess if you want to hold off to prepare more you could delay sending photo ID but I'm pretty happy to go as soon as possible.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6 Prcm

Ok, I didn't get that email... Who do you think I should contact about this? Maybe they got my email wrong?

    Thanks for the help guys

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

Hey, just saw that you got an email back thanking you for sending your ID. I didn’t get that email back but I got a date for my fitness. Do you think I should email them and just clarify that they received it?

I don’t think you would need to. Think they just happened to send me an email back. If you got your pct date then I would think everything is fine and they received it.

anyone who’s done the medical how strict are they on eyesight ? , not sure if I would pass that part or not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 179 ✭✭RarePhilosophy

I don’t think you need 20/20 to pass. I’d say good enough to drive legally without glasses (that’s a guess). I know when I got my license a few years ago my eyesight was just about good enough to not require glasses while driving.

Squint and try hard to read the letters. Make the effort.

They give you the option of getting laser eye surgery I think if your eyesight is inadequate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

Yes you’re correct they do! I wear glasses for long distance, ok for driving though. If I fail the eyesight test I will get the laser eye surgery, crazy money though 🫠

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

How is everyone prepping for bleep test? Dreading this the most

  • Registered Users Posts: 21 Red devil 77

I would say the best way to prep is to do one every day or else 5 a week on top of slow long distance running to build your aerobic base eg. A 10k run at a very ease pace, I got laser eye surgery last month in cork it was 3600 paid monthly over 3 years not the worst to be honest my vision is better than 20/20 I would recommend anyone to do it so much easier than glasses and contacts

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

Thanks @Red devil 77 appreciate it.
I had a consult in Optical Express they quoted me €4,000 each eye 🤢

The only positive is that you can claim tax relief if it's not covered by your private insurance if you have it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭Murphy2024

anyone know for the B form in the aunts/uncles section do you need to put down their spouse as well if they are no longer together but are technically married? Still waiting on my form but trying to gather the information before hand.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

I have VHI I think it takes 20% off which is better than nothing!

  • Registered Users Posts: 40 Louise2024

    I think you do yes

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 km26

Hey, anyone that has done fitness and passed to go ahead to medical. How long do you have between both. And is it possible to change medical dates if needed? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 Confitzy

Hey all. Anyone have any idea what oom are they on now for the interviews? Tia

  • Registered Users Posts: 29 Paddy77
