    Cracking line up of matches

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,769 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Samoa defeated Italy this morning 33-25

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,638 ✭✭✭Dubinusa

Oz v Wales is the match that interests me the most. What can Schmidt do with Oz?

  • Subscribers Posts: 41,915 ✭✭✭✭sydthebeat

dont expect high quality rugby, two very workmanlike teams without high quality x factor players.

Just a reminder of the 2 teams about to kick off in NZ..

More matches than those, although not of interest to many:

USA vs Romania already at 01:00 this morning. Ended 31-17 to USA.

Chile vs Hong Kong at 20:00 tonight too.

Mad weekend for sport, F1, MotoGP, Rugby (summer tours and Currie Cup here in SA), Wimbledon, not even sure what else that I dont follow.

Edit, the Euros football last night and tonight. Knew I was forgetting something.

And in Ireland, we have the Hurling semi finals

    Kilkenny Clare today

    Limerick Cork tomorrow..

    Gwan limerick.

I was only counting real sports, thats why I didnt list golf either…

    Im joking, im joking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

that haka was ridiculous - 3 formations

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭gneel

Did NZ front row not stand up in that scrum?

I hate that kind of knock on call. The ball was knocked out of his hands back onto his knee, then forward off his knee.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

Great try. Fantastic ruck speed throughout that entire passage of play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,757 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

    English line speed is mental

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

Yeah, offside most of the time. Glad the ref is onto it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,812 ✭✭✭accensi0n

    Great try by NZ

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

England in their own half just looking to kick the ball away but they are neither clearances or contestable most of the time so far from Mitchell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,757 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Marcus Smith would drive me insane, seems incapable of passing without running 5 yards across the pitch first.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,142 ✭✭✭fitz

A word on the ref...I think he's one of the best in the game atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,757 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Thats a massive defensive set from England

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

Maybe trying to play a bit too much in the last phases by NZ but very good defence from England.

I wonder will we see Perenara for the 2nd half that twist of his knee looked very severe

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 11,922 Mod ✭✭✭✭icdg

indeed, I did limit my list to games that were easily watched on UK/Irish linear TV.

For those wondering about Sky coverage of NZ v England a mixture of old and new: Anna Woolhouse, Kyle Sinckler, Nick Evans, Will Greenwood in the studio, Miles Harrison and David Flatman on the call (apparently from Iselworth rather than Dunedin).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Brief_Lives

The pain in Flatmans voice when the kiwis do something good, is delicious. ridiculous commentator.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

On one hand, you think that Christie is an eejit for not using the ball when the ref told him to, but it's also a shame that you can't keep the ball in the scrum and try to drive forward when you feel that you've got the upper hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,537 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Smith not brought his kicking boots today.

On the scrum, I think De Groot stood

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

England have started the 2nd half very well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,757 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Actually think Flatman has been pretty objective

  • Registered Users Posts: 95 ✭✭gneel

Scott Barrett not the best player to be chasing a chip over the top

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

Not really seeing the point of these aimless high balls in midfield from NZ. Much better to play for the corner, and maybe get a 50/22.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

That was a lovely low kick by Barrett which led to the penalty

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

Not sure how Reece didn't get a penalty for Furbank holding on after that big hit. Looked Ike the linesman was calling in but nothing given

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,850 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,897 ✭✭✭TheRona

Yeah, bizarre. He was being lifted off the ground, and wouldn't let go.

  • Registered Users Posts: 704 ✭✭✭rodders999

the disco at every break in play does my head in (maybe I’m just a old traditionalist!)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,167 ✭✭✭testtech05

Has the time too the shot been changed for a penalty? Didn't seem like McKenzie took overly long there but the ref told him to kick twice

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,336 ✭✭✭theVersatile

    Madness from Mackenzie

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,336 ✭✭✭theVersatile

60 seconds always for a penalty. Ref counted 20 and 10 seconds left. DM has no excuse

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,850 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

    no no it is ridiculous

Get a load of the SA match later

    Ear bleed

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,142 ✭✭✭fitz

For all the clamouring to get Razor into the top job, that was a pretty mediocre start. Aside from a couple of moments, NZ looked pretty ordinary, and England's defense dealt with them fairly handy. I know it's early days, but I've always thought the expectation of what he'll be able to do as head coach could be unrealistic.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,142 ✭✭✭fitz

Was mental hearing the commentary saying how great it was that the ref didn't count it down cause it wasn't his job... throughout the game he'd been giving 10 or 20 second warnings, and he did so again there. McKenzie either didn't hear him or thought he'd be let off with it. Either way, inexcusable from him, needs to be more aware of the clock.

Fair enough maybe ot having the time on screen threw me off a bit. Agreed on DM he had no excuse

    itoje back to his best?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,850 ✭✭✭CMcsporty

Scott Barrett looks the head of Jason Newsted

    Formerly of Metallica

Im not liking the articles the last day or 2 in SA news. You would wonder whose side they are on, getting into the SA team's heads more than anything I would imagine.

"World champs out to beat the one team in whose head they've never been"

"Loftus Test flyhalf duel: Be wary, the stats tease and deceive"

"Bok skipper Kolisi back in Test cauldron with Irish showdown: 'The only team we havent beaten'"

"An Irish monkey on his back: Double World Cup winner Erasmus seeks first triumph over Ireland"

"Boks vs Ireland: Battle between number one and two feels like an ambush waiting to happen"

Win or lose, brandy and coke will flow and im lighting the braai at half time and throwing some rump steaks on when the game is done.

To be fair though, that all black squad only been together for 10 days. Great test though, looking forward to SA and the Irish next

Is the Ireland game on any free to air channel?

Next Man City manager: You lot may all be internationals and have won all the domestic honours there are to win under Pep. But as far as I'm concerned, the first thing you can do for me is to chuck all your medals and all your caps and all your pots and all your pans into the biggest **** dustbin you can find, because you've never won any of them fairly. You've done it all by bloody cheating.
