New Tyres for a BMW

I’m at a bit of a crossroads with tyres at the moment. I bought a set of Michelin Pilot sport 3s back in 2021 for my 520D and they were great but I’m not sure if there is better out there for Runflats.

I’ve heard great things about Continental Contisport and the Goodyear Eagle F1s but I thought I’d ask other people who have maybe had experience with them and see what they think.

You won’t be disappointed with the newer Pilot Sports 4, Pilot Sport 4s, or Pilot Sport 5

Pilot sports or Potenza's, I've had both, currently using the Potenza's, both really good tyres.

Can runflats go on any car? I've never had them but currently don't have a spare wheel so might be an idea when the time comes to change

Are these available as non run flats aswell?

I thought the 4 where discontinued. The 5 don't seem to have rim protection if thats of interest.

They might be discontinued but theres still loads of availability from suppliers. Sure you can still buy PS3’s and they were probably discontinued years ago.

I had to hunt for my 4s and was told it would be difficult to get a replacement. Perhaps they just wanted to sell the 5..

Technically you're only supposed to use them,AFAIK, on a car with a tyre pressure monitor system, because unlike a normal car tyre that goes flat and you feel or hear it, a run flat won't collapse, so you might not know you've a flat tyre, and you'll be doing a normal driving speed etc, which is dangerous,.

I do have monitors, both cars are 2022. I just don't like the idea of no spare and the can of gunk instead. Even considered a spare wheel in the boot at one stage but would take up too much room. Even a space saver temporary.

I'll look at run flats, I should need new ones before the winter

Was that in physical tyre shops? I was more referring to online tyre retailers.
