Mod - Kamala Harris thread merged into this one

There are to be no more new election or US politics threads started in CA - there are enough already

not really amazing considering how catastrophic the debate performance was. It would be amazing if journalists didn’t respond.

There's this line that's always thrown around in MAGA circles about the 'mainstream media' being biased, but CNN wasn't exactly trying to defend Biden right after the debate happened. As I recall, one of the analysts said something to the effect of "Biden's done'.

Also The Rock is announcing on Tuesday, does he get a separate thread also ?

Mainstream media is clearly biased along party lines. Now the media fears Biden losing to Trump.

An egregious example is this deliberate misspelling that was carried across all left-wing media and was the real start of the Trump is a racist story. Just reading it, it's very obvious where the misspelling is, but the video makes it incredibly obvious. No journalist could make this mistake without a determined goal in mind.

"Thank you. It's true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

People's own biases will make them read that, spot what's wrong, but then insist to themselves that that's what he said, when deep down they know he didn't.

Meanwhile, Biden's actual racist quotes, like him not wanting his kids to grow up in a racial jungle, or him calling Obama the first mainstream African American who is bright and clean and good looking, are completely ignored.

oh are we back to pretending Trump isn’t a racist again? The Central Park Five full page ad calling to put those black kids to death and refusing to rent to blacks etc. etc. was all just a misunderstanding I guess. 🥱 carry on and share some AI generated images of trumps appealing to black voters for good measure.

And uh, how does this quote you selected disprove he’s being racist there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 682 ✭✭✭sock.rocker*

Perfect example of bias. You just totally ignored what Biden has said, and you totally ignored my point about the media and that misspelling.

Overheal, you are easily one of the most gifted mental gymnasts on this website. You argued for like a week that Biden had stopped all shipments of arms, then when the White House came out and argued very clearly that he didn't, you simply disappeared for a few days, and presumably did not let the facts impact your opinion of Biden whatsoever.

You accuse others of pretending while doing the same thing.

"And uh, how does this quote you selected disprove he’s being racist there?"

Try to find the odd spelling first.

That's Trump on "Truth Social". No mainstream mejia for you to blame there.

But of course, no matter what racially repugnant drivel Trump comes out with, some people will defend him.

Trump's a racist and you trot out discredited excuses about the 'mainstream mejia'.

    Says it all.

A poster said it is a MAGA trope is that the media is biased. Everyone knows it is biased, but I added a fascinating example of a huge selection of the media colluding to make that intentional misspelling, one that is still trotted out nearly a decade later. If you Google it, it's even in a bunch of university papers etc.

It's also fascinating that Biden has those quotes and no one thinks he is a racist, when if Trump had said either of them, they'd be the most racist thing he'd have ever said. Certainly more racist than the quote I'm talking about, if spelled correctly.

We sat again for an hour and a half discussing maps and figures and always getting back to that most damnable creation of the perverted ingenuity of man - the County of Tyrone.

And spend the next hour with you and others pretending that they're not actually racist? You know the quotes. If Trump had said those things, you would use them as evidence of his racism.

You said a few days ago that Trump was at Epstein's islands lots of times. Did you ever get around to providing links for that?

"Unless we do something about this, my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We have got to make some move on this."

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

And now the pretense comes, as if Trump saying those things wouldn't be seen as openly racist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,480 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

So no comment from you then on the direct offensive racist quote from Trump. A direct quote from the current campaign.

Instead we get irrelevent incoherent attempts at deflection about mis-spelling.

Nothing fascinating about it. Utterly predictable level of response from a Trump defender.

This is the quote from Trump.

Pretty much everyone agrees that Trump is a racist. I just wanted to highlight some interesting collusion and bias from the media which has even leaked into universities. It's such a remarkable example of revisionism that is accepted by everyone.

To be clear, I don't like Trump. I just abhor the absolute nonsense around him and think a lot of his haters are as delusional as his supporters. The complete lack of standards people like you or ancapailldorcha have for Biden is why the Democrats are suddenly in this position. You believed your own lies and accusations.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,200 ✭✭✭✭silverharp

if what you say is true then he wont get any votes form the African American community or Hispanics, only 4 months to go to test that theory….

Kamila Harris and other black politicians have already had a go at him over his comments. He wouldn't stand a chance against anyone but Trump.

I disappeared from that thread for entirely different reasons you are not privy to. And there is still no reporting those weapons have actually been shipped, just flap from unnamed officials etc.

thank you for this ironic display of bias though.

You can go ahead and say what you think shows the quote to not be racist, not just some conspiracy about spelling I hope.

  • Registered Users Posts: 82,451 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

    this.

Biden’s old senate quotes were well worn quantities in the 2020 election oh gahd look how much it eroded his support oh wait

Trump is still out there saying wild new **** about immigrants poisoning the blood of the country, if they think Biden’s old senate quotes nullify that we’re in for a 2nd Biden win.

    You "don't like Trump".

But you "abhor the absolute nonsense around him".

    Strong words there.

You're not fooling anyone here, with your constant whataboutery, and hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil about Trump.

Number of unprovoked criticisms of Trump - zero.

Meanwhile, any angle will be found to sling mud at Biden. You will go down rabbit holes of conspiracy theory nonsense, or digging up ancient quotes from Biden while ignoring Trump's current conduct.

A complete lack of standards is right, or rather, we see in your posts a total double standard for Biden conduct and evidence versus Trump.

We've seen such tactics before on the forum and always it is the masquerade of a Trump supporter.

My comment was in relation to Trump, it makes no sense calling Trump a racist if Trump does well with minorities, US politics is going in a gender direction, more men will vote Republican of all ethnicities and more women will tend Democrat.

It makes no sense not to call Trump a racist, or a racist dog whistler.

This is plainly the statement of a racist or someone trying to appeal to them.

    This is a racist statement.

in fairness Trump has been Ruparred so much that going back to that well will not be persuasive, remember Biden ran on the Charlottesville hoax

Trump is a racist, who dog whistles inflammatory offensive racist language. There is no hoax.

Is this a racist statement, yes or no?

This is from Trump's current campaign.

There was no hoax. Trump called the neo-Nazis "very fine people". It's fact.

odyssey06, you ask me why I am seemingly so one-sided, and it's because of posts like this one by acd. This is absurdity and a complete and utter lie, just like his post saying Trump was on Epstein's island when he never was.

    This is relentless on here.

Trump is a racist, he has dog whistled offensive racist statements time and time again.

You seem more bothered that people jumped the gun on calling him a racist, arguing the finer points of exactly what he meant from statements from years ago, ignoring recent actual racist offensive statements he comes out with such as:

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS POISONING THE BLOOD OF OUR NATION

In the face of the fact of Trump's reprehensible conduct, what we see in your posts are relentless excuses of Trump and whataboutery.
