Now we'll see what Raducanu's resilience is like....

Lulu Sun is flying some excellent very aggressive play, but lot of errors from Raducanu, holding her opening game of second set at least.

Lulu should have broken . Might regret but still playing well enough

    Shocking misses from Em Rad

Raducanu missing two good break point chances on second serves.

    Lots of winners from Sun.

Not sure her own team believe in Em Rad, not much of a response from them, sad.

Another unforced error , when it was an easy winner

Decent hold from Sun very enjoyable second set so far.

You could say the same for a lot of Sun's shots as well.

Very close 2nd set, hard to know who's going to crack first, or who'll deal better with the seemingly inevitable tie break!

(I'd say I'm about 5 mins behind real time, so apologies if the set is already decided!)

Side note Andrew Cotter and Ash Barty are excellent on comms, a million times better than Andrew Castle, Henman and McEnroe.

Raducanu can't take first set point but takes second!

    SECOND SET EM RAD!

    Never saw that coming

Raducanu keeps nudging her back and stretching it - I hope she hasn't injured herself.

You are only seeing a tiny snippet of them, they may think she reacts better to them not shouting and yelling. Into a third set.

I think back to Lendl when coaching Murray I remember he barely reacted to anything.

Vekic for the winner of the Sun/Raducanu match.

Jane O Donoghue has struck me all throughout this tournament as a great person to have in your box, she just exudes calm and confidence!

Oh sh#t.…Raducanu slid awkwardly... trainer out

Raducanu unfortunately just seems to be one of those athletes who is made of paper.

She still looks like her back isn't right either

    Lulu Sun breaks...oh dear.

Dimitrov out, retires with a knee injury against Medvedev.

Madison keys also retired injured earlier against Paolini.

Raducanu seems to be moving ok, still fighting but needs to put Lulu Sun serve under some pressure to get the break back.

Shaking her hand sounds like walking on a Snail

Interesting stats for Sun she is clearly playing out of her skin! Break here and this is done tbh...bad miss! Yikes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,228 ✭✭✭✭gmisk

Lulu Sun breaks...5-2 this is done.

    ....…

Raducanu missing two break chances when Sun serving for match, Sun takes it 6-2. Played so well lot of winners. Can see what it means to her and the people in her box. Raducanu didn't play horribly and battled, but just not quite good enough today. Decent tournament for her still.

Shame for Raducanu, would've liked her to win that. Was a big chance to reach another grand slam SF, a chance she may not get again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,448 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Oh I'd say she'll get another few goes at later rounds (well I hope she does anyway!) - as long as she says uninjured....

How refreshing to hear someone being interviewed who doesn't have all the stock lines off pat - the interview schtick has worn really thin at this stage.

Good luck to Sun in the next round, if she comes out playing half that well next game she has to be in with a chance.

She is 21 don't count her out just yet!

If her body doesn't let her down I am sure there will be other chances.

Big improvement in her ranking recently quick look in mid April she was 303, on live rankings she is currently at 92, fingers crossed.
