Magnetic strength - hex bit holders

Is there ones you can buy with a decent magnetic strength

They're always too weak as long as I've been using them

Be careful what you wish for, I've one that's so strong you need a pair of pliers to get the bits out!

Seriously though I'd be using pozi 2 90% of the time

Your correct the magnets are useless on most but I've this Milwaukee impact now a few months and it's very good. I see the price is reduced now from when I bought so might buy a other 😁

Got this little set included with a power tool years ago - It's a belt & braces approach. Holder is magnetic and the black knurled piece is spring loaded and locks the bit in -

Wera are also know for doing a decent magnetic bit holder this one is a bit belt and braces with an internal grip ring.

These type bit holders are very handy, I've a few but only for use on drills. Impact drivers damage the spring loaded rings like these.

I've the wera and the shockwave handy there and neither are very strong magnetically

The shockwave set is a design disaster anyway you have to prise the bits out with a pliers I saw someone else posting that so should have known what to expect

Yep, the Wera brand seem to have a great reputation across the board. I think @Mr321 is talking about the holders that have a wire/spring around the middle of the inside (like an int circlip) - I've had those but the int spring pops out too easy

On closer inspection, the metabo one above has 1 tiny ball bearing doing the heavy lifting - If I lift the knurled piece the ball recedes allowing bit to be removed

For most use I have a load of cheap magnetic hex bit holders that have never been a problem and hold on to the bit just fine. Occasionally the bit is left in the screw head if it gets stuck but thats fairly rare. I suspect the cheap bit holders I have came as part of a massive very cheap chinese Rolson bit set.
