Two very poor wides apiece there. No team seems to be able to go two ahead. The team that does should hold on at this late stage.

    The ground is playing hell

Good call by referee. Unfortunate but ball and hand touched the ground for a very brief moment.

Armagh will be rubbing their hands watching these teams

That could nearly have sealed it.

Galway will take of them easily. Kerry were woeful yesterday and should have been out of sight by ht.

    Donegal are finished

Donegal too much fluting around the edges last few minutes when they were desperate for a point. Ran out of ideas really and Galways defence held up well. Congrats to the gallant tribesmen!

    Thank god for that.

    Galway got the job done

They are a better team than Armagh for sure as well

    A long winter ahead :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,451 ✭✭✭cmac2009

Their forward play is far superior to Armagh. That will be the difference.

So a rematch of the game in Sligo, a few weeks ago.

Those low percentage wides from Donegal at the end were criminal especially when they were so clinical before that.

Said it earlier in the year, and it proved through, Galway have the strongest panel going. To bring on John Daly late on while operating without Kelly sums it up.

And mayo fans suddenly getting worried again

Kicked two incredibly tired looking frees.

Croke Park DJ on the ball again with something the crowd enjoy instead of some antiquated funeral march.

Galway play some nice silky football but they aplo have a hard edge. There's no softness about them.at all so Armagh wont have an advantage in that regard. Going to be an interesting final. A novel pairing. Armagh v Galway.

    2001 champions Vs 2002 champions.

Thankfully no all northern final. Id expect galway to win. Mayo looking on in envy.

Donegal have to move on from Patten

Reminds me of when Hennelly was in goals for Mayo. No amount of good kickouts make up for the total lack of confidence the team must have in him under a high ball

Congratulations Galway. We were poor in the 2nd half of the 2nd half. That goal will haunt Patton for life.

Galway also have the experience of All Ireland final day only two years ago. The build up, the razmatazz all the extra stuff like meeting the president. That's all in the memory bank. Not to mention the hurt of losing a very close game to Kerry. All this is an advantage to the Tribesmen imo.

Must be the first novel pairing in a long, long time

Tight game, well done Galway. Donegal lost their way a bit, relied on good long range shooting for the first 45 minutes but these type of pot shots often run out of steam sooner or later. The missed free by Gallen (who had been excellent) was a killer, just sucked whatever energy from them and they didn't recover, lost their heads late in with poor decisions.

Galway won without their big names Walsh or Comer or even Conroy (who was good but can be better) being in any way prominent, so there is still improvement there to be gotten somewhere. I even thought Heaney was only brought on relatively late so he has more to offer too.
