Buying cycling bibs online.

    Just wondering if anybody can recommend a good shop with an online store to buy cycling bibs?
    My preference would be to walk into a shop and buy them but I am in a corner of the country where
    that option is limited.

    My concern about buying online is getting the correct size.

    Galibier is a perennial favourite here. That says, the first purchase may be a gamble in terms of getting the size right.

    They're based in Ireland - not just a shop but their own brand, and are great to deal with.

    And I would add if the OP is concerned about sizing, they will take back anything that's the wrong size and replace it really quickly, but I'd email them before you buy and they'll give you good advice.

    Very poor service in my opinion. Shopped once with them and had a shocking experience. Will never buy from them again. Galibier an altogether better option.

    Another vote for Galibier - I emailed them before buying a set of bib tights and got a recommendation to change from my existing ones due to a different fit/material, and the new ones fit perfectly

    Do Galibier need another vote? Probably not, but I'll give them one anyway. Good quality clothing, excellent customer service, and I've even used their repair service. Every single dealing I've had with them has been excellent

    Very hard to fault Galibier, quality and price is very good and the service is excellent . As said by others you may need to try one or two to get the size right but return service and advice is very good.

    I have a number of Galibier bibs also. Pretty good, good price, however a few small niggles. The classic model - elastic silicone part on the end is getting slightly loose on the very bottom. Also a small problem with a seam on both Classic bibs I have where the folded material was just outside the sewing so was sticking out a bit. Very subtle but just in the wrong place at the front if you know what I mean. I trimmed the seam back a bit and seems OK now. The other model of bibs I had from them (Peleton) had better stitching here

    I don't rate their shorts particularly highly either. Grand for me for 1-2h but that's about it. You can regularly find Castelli, Assos or Q36.5 on sale for not much more and they're usually well worth the extra 20-30 quid.

    Any tips on where is good to find them on sale or is it just a case of checking all the usual shops? I have had Assos in the past and they are good. I know nothing about Q36.5 though.

    I typed a long post yesterday that Boards appears to have eaten. The general sentiment being that I would add another dissenting voice to the Galibier discussion - I purchased, admittedly 5 years ago, on the basis of strong recommendations here and thought the bibs in particular were poor quality, or rather very different in material and cut to what I have come to expect now after working through most of the big brands.

    Santini Mont Ventoux and Rapha's Proteam Training bibs would be my vote depending on application, but bibs are a pretty individual thing I would suspect.

    I have a pair of Galibier bibs that chafe, so I stopped using them.

    You could try Siroko - I have these and I'm happy with them (note that their product range is not as large as it appears - the same shorts/jersey/socks will have different colours and each colour is listed as a separate product). Delivery is fast (47 hours for a recent order) and the returns policy is good (free returns for size exchanges or returns against a credit note).

    Sportspursuit.com have a good selection. Rivelo are one of the brands they sell and are good value as they are always heavily discounted.
    As mentioned, sizing is the main issue with brands seemingly making it up as they go along!

    i've never had an issue with galibier; i've three pairs of bibs (two of them are the same model bought from the same production run, to be fair), but brands i have had an issue with are northwave (like wearing a pair of cheesecutter wires) and altura (just poor quality for the price point they're at)

    I do think bibs are very individual. And even within say Galibier, there's a lot of different options, and now different iterations of even the "same" bibs. Galibier are my go to for anything long day.

    Club gear is velo revolution, and I think they're decent but found the shorts a bit short in the leg for my preference, as were the Boards venge ones (so maybe a me problem!). The only bibs I ever had a issues with were spin 11 club shorts, but in fairness that's going back probably 10 years at this stage.

    Northwave bibs are the worst I have ever experienced, aside from the discomfort, the view was borderline pornographic from the front.

    my personal experience with bibs has been you get what you pay for. picked up giordana bibs from a liquidator shop on ebay for real cheap and they are by far the best pair i've owned. after numerous washes they still look almost brand new.

    All depends on how much you want to spend - I pretty much always recommend Endura FS260 (~€110) and Assos Mille GT bibs (~140). Both really good in my experience. If you're a CI member you get a €12% disciount in cyclesuperstore.

    Re: sizing - look very carefully at the size charts. I would go with a brand you know, gind the size that fits and then look up the dimensions. Use this rather than size on whatever brand you are buying. I'm L, XL or even XXL depending on the brand!

    OP here. I bought the Assos T GTS-Mille GT Bib Shorts online. One of the reasons I bought this brand is because
    I thought I could judge the size a bit better than the other brands. I used the Interactive
    sizing guide on the Assos website which recommended Medium. I went for Large. Large is tight enough in comparison to Bibs I already have. Medium would have been ridiculous.

    I prefer not too restrictive. Might return yet and get extra large or try a different brand.

    I recently bought Sportful bib shorts, find very good, plenty of padding and did 6.5hr cycle first time I used them with no issue. You do need to size up mind, I'm always a medium bu had to go large on this occasion. Bikeinn have them at a reduced price the last time I looked.

    Exchanged Large for XL which I will keep. If I was in the shop I would have tried on XLG but XL will be fine.
