If he's monitoring the guy on the roof and sees him raising what looks like a weapon, surely at the point his 'rules of engagement' should be telling him to take the guy out? Are we in the extraordinary position of accusing American security services of not being trigger-happy enough?

For all the people getting outraged at 'the LEFT' the last couple of days in particular for trying to assassinate Trump and for calling him a fascist, Know this. The person who tried to kill him was a Conservative and a Republican. And a Republican Senator has likened him to the benchmark of fascism ideology.

You should all wake up. The US Right Wing has lost the run of itself this past 8 years, once again it is showing how correct Lindsey Graham was in his 2016 claim that 'If we select Donald Trump, he will destroy us, and we will deserve it.'

It's 8 years in the making, but you look at the key stories of Trump's political career and the public discourse while he has been involved and its all the makings of an implosion almost entirely contained within the right of the political spectrum. JD Vance made those comments about Trump when he thought he was in the rear-view mirror, but then, Kevin McCarthy stopped the car and went back to pick him up when he visited him in Mar-A-Lago soon after he left office, and here we are. McCarthy, Halley, Pence and many more who demeaned themselves to earn favor with Trump have been cast aside to varying degrees.

There's one thing I'm very sure of, the longer Trump stays on the scene, the worse it is going to get.

The comparisons between Hitler and Trump's rise are quite stark if one knows their history. Both men have found themselves at the head of an extremist movement. Both men have been groomed by established Conservative forces in an effort to corral and control them with a view to using their committed cult-like base, and both men have ended up shedding the efforts to control them and have, instead, found themselves controlling the political narrative of those established Conservative forces. Both men have also used incredibly inflammatory rhetoric on their rise to power, vowing to get "revenge" on their political opponents and both men have threatened minorities by calling them "vermin" and accusing them of poisoning the blood of a nation. Both men are responsible for inciting an attack on their country's democracy.

And both men have now had assassination attempts carried out on them.

It depends what one means by "Hitler" though. It could be a reference to a risk of the 1933-39 version (the 1939-45 version could surely only be replicated if the US was actually at war).

It all comes down to him being an unattractive young man who was probably bullied through school and had never experienced female companionship. In most countries that situation wouldn't result in violence but in USA with it's access to guns it is often a different story.
