Tents knifed

just heard on Newstalk news that a group of ‘people’ - maybe there is a more apt name for them - arrived wearing face covers and with knives, baseball bats, etc, etc, etc, etc, and attacked the property of 15 refugees who had tented someplace in Dublin City. The group apparently knifed the tents and threw the lot into the Liffey along with their passports and other documents. Something REALLY NEEDS to be done about this behaviour. What if this hits the international media. But , for our own sake we need to apply ZERO TOLERENCE for this kind of behaviour, increase sentences , etc, etc.

Lol you want them to go to jail but its alright when they were destroyed on Government orders ? Should they also go to jail ?

We need to have zero tolerance for tents in the city.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,714 ✭✭✭MrMusician18

What if it hits the international media??? OMG what will the neighbours think.

Other countries have enough of their own similar problems to care too much about what happens in Dublin.

It's alright anyway, the government have said Dublin isn't lawless

re international media. All this type of activity adds up - all the disturbance at other proposed accommodation centres, the riots in and around OConnell st a few mts ago, etc, etc. I am thinking of how overseas tourists /0verseas investors might view Ireland. A lot of tourists did not ‘ realise’ during the ‘troubles’ that it was confined MAINLY to NI. They thought that the troubles were throughout IReland so stayed away

I find it strange that those causing the most trouble, and instigating violence are the one "protesting" against immigrants because they think immiugrants are going to cause trouble.

Do these fucwits actually have a brain cell or are they simply devoid of even the most basic intelligence.

I note also that almost all those arrested and charge in the coolock scuffles were in social housing and most were not in any employment.

    Pure scum

…we probably should have been building more houses so over the last few years…..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,267 ✭✭✭timmyntc

FDI does not care one jot for this kind of thing. They care about whether they can get workers and whether they can get tax breaks and whether they can get enough electricity supply for their facilities.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

Ah yes build more houses . That would sure solve the immigration crisis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,280 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

…well actually yes, it would be a good start, housing is in fact one of the main reasons why we re now experiencing immigration related problems, it was noted for well over a decade now that we were running out of housing, but yet our governments have done little or nothing to address this reality, and the fact we have a quickly aging population, inward migration is in fact one of the quickest ways of addressing major issues such as housing and health care, as we probably wont be getting a whole pile of 40+ year old irish folks rushing into construction to get building, but we might just be able to get some 20+ year old migrants into it, and into our health system!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,280 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

its clearly obvious we have an extremely serious aging population problem, if we dont do anything about it soon, we simply will never be able to resolve our most serious issues, particularly with an aging work force, its clearly obvious our pension and welfare systems will simply not be able to also deal with this aging population, which could potentially lead to pension fund collapse, if we dont do something immediately about this profile…..

you should have a look at some of Europe's other cities Paris Madrid Rome etc, tented shanty towns are the new norm the world over

we are in a era of social economic and civil regression . simply put civilization has slowed its forward progress and started going in the other direction in some places

  • Registered Users Posts: 715 ✭✭✭gral6

It is Government's issue. Build homes for Irish but no for refugees. Then problem disappears.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,280 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

…again, no it doesnt, are you willing to go out onto building sites for the rest of your working life to do this?

Then look at American cities that have decriminalised drug possession being ravaged by artificial opiod crises driven by precursor chemicals provided to drug cartels by China.

Lets get real, if Ireland had enough accommodation spare to house 100,000 more migrants, 200,000 more migrants would be brought over. You can cheer and support that attitude, write it off as kindness or benevolence, but you cannot pretend that any availability of housing would get people off the streets, the housing crisis will continue so long as we're OK with continuously bringing in more people than we're capable to house.

In a country dealing not only with the housing crisis but the problems associated with poor building practices (pyrite etc) any acceleration in construction also has to be managed properly.

We're already doing a bad job of providing for our own citizens, now we're doing an even worse job providing for people arriving into the country. All the while the government responsible are using the "far right" bogeyman as a scapegoat to keep the heat off of themselves creating a vicious circle of inertia relating to construction of housing and rhetoric about perceived enemies. Nothing is ever solved but blame is dished out in spades and it never lands at the feet of the establishment that have crated the problems in the first place.

agreed , and escalated by a feral underclass of useless jobless angry scumbags who have been allowed to believe that they can do what they like due to a water weak government and justice system .

those throwing rock and burning garda cars aren't the voice of the people, they are the people who should be removed so the rest of us can get on with civilization

Asylum Seekers will not be "paying for our pensions."

I really wish people would stop trotting out this canard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,280 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

…and again wrong, again, our housing problems have persisted long before most of these immigrants turned up here, it was in fact noted at the height of the previous crash, that we were in fact starting to run out of housing, thats 15 years ago now, i.e. the fundamentals of our housing problems are in fact deeply ideologically based within out primary political parties, and have persisted, and they will never change this, ever…..

and again, we will not be able to build what we need without a major influx of younger workers, other facts are, pensionable age will simply keep increasing, the longer this goes on, for reasons explained, so get ready to be made work into your 70's!

All thanks to our lax overly liberal criminal justice system.

Scumbags that should be locked up are walking our streets, usually they focus their behaviour on individuals and it gets ignored, when it's en masse in a riot situation everyone is so shocked by the fact it could happen yet they never join the dots on how letting sh1t bags do whatever they like could possibly have negative outcomes.

We will work into our 70s to support the welfare. Refugees don't work, and we shouldn't expect them to either - if we're calling them asylum seekers or refugees that's in itself is the reason to bringing them here.

If we need people to work - talk working visas, and call the incomers economic migrants if that's what you say they are.

Again i think you mean well but are very naive. We have 10s of thousands of lads coming from Africa and the Middle East each year. Their main aim isnt to work. They have no history of it. They are contributing to an unsustainable level of welfare that is going to burst pretty soon.

Eastern Europeans helped hugely in the boom and contributed massively to our society. They have now gone home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,579 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

There are still tens, if not hundreds of thousands of people who came from the eastern European nations between 10 and 20 years ago, living, working and settled permanently in Ireland. I know many, and they are unreal workers in the technical and manual labour sectors.

Polish remains the second most common language in Ireland, after english.

    So don't be daft.

be a shame if Ireland got a bad reputation for setting up tents in a capital city, its terrible Joe

That's what raw numbers don't tell us, and we all like to pretend that everyone is great and equal.

That 30,000 lost over? They're educated, skilled, working people, they work 2 to a couple and they integrate and pay their taxes. They came to Ireland and within days were up and running in full time jobs, and filled in sectors like construction that we are so badly short on. We've been spoiled with great migration over the years. Now we're losing them, and other EU expats, and indeed Irish people too. Educated skilled workers when fed up with the country will leave.

We replace that with non EU migration, they're not at the level of education or skilled to fill in Ireland's very much tertiary sector economy and they're quite work shy at that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,945 ✭✭✭Sweet.Science

That is all true. However, you are a normal person. Few and fair between at the moment.

How does increasing our welfare and housing dependent population in Ireland today increase our likelihood of dealing appropriately with our future pension time bomb?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,517 ✭✭✭mikethecop

    this !!

I remember the negative feeling when eastern Europeans started arriving on mass here , fairly quickly it became apparent that they came to work, and work bloody hard , some to stay and eventually integrate, some to make cash and head home same as Irish in the states uk and oz or canada.

that is not the case for uneducated, unskilled culturally alien Africans and middle easterners for the most part

Same thing happened in Ringsend Park, near playgrounds, schools, creches, and various sports pitches.

    The locals were 100% right.

Makes you wonder that on English forums there are all kinds of regrets for giving the Irish a hard time back in the 50's to the 90's lol

Or we could encourage irish people to have more kids by making it affordable.

It is amazing that the people who pay for all this are the ones who can't afford to have kids.

Never want to work a day, pop out a few kids and get a council house.

Never want to work a day, no bother rock up without a passport and pop out kids and have a house.

Work hard and pay for all these people and you get to stay in your bedroom room and can't raise kids at home.

Manage to get a house after making huge sacraficies and with a mortgage and childcare you will do well to afford having kids.

Maybe their should be something aimed at people with work ethic who will breed kids with work ethic to make it affordable to have kids.

A single person working hasn't a chance to get a house, but people who never worked in their life have more of a chance than working people.

We export our brightest and replace them with people who will drain us, we will be in a bad way in the future.

If the multinational bubble goes we are going to be in some mess.

The logic is that a lot of the increasing population will be working and paying taxes. Other countries have done it too. Didn't Germany let in millions of folk about 20 years ago, mostly Turks, as they needed to bump up their population?

Of course there will be a certain number who cobtribute little and be a drain on the state, but you'd hope that would be small compared to those working and contributing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,341 ✭✭✭Cordell

A fast breeding non working uneducated population is a much bigger problem than an aging population. Non working people and low wage workers are a drain on the society and welfare systems, not contributors. Things were going the right way until about 10 years ago when somehow the whole third world got the idea that they can come to Ireland.

Incredible. I need to take time off work, so I can go to the bank and pay their mortgage. Hi, Mr. Bank Manager I'd like to get a mortgage for an unspecified number of homes please. Just put it on the national debt. Oh, and make sure the heat pump matches the Tesla.

Trying to draw an equivalence with Gardai/Immigration officers removing tents and taking the occupants to prepared accommodation, and thugs destroying tents and threatening the occupants is disingenuous at best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭Kurooi

Can you imagine how much this is shared down in poor regions of Algeria, how many more people did we motivate to cross over, how much human trafficking did we promote, how much further misery did that trafficking finance, how many people died on the way after reading this pile of lies, false promises. And the survivors? they get to sit in tents. And the benevolent ever so kind left has a plan for them - cheap labor.
