It wasn't even some song that was borderline, where upon reflection it could be seen as problematic — it was just straight up super racist. Insane thing to 1) be singing, and 2) be singing so joyously while live streaming yourself, and 3) be ring-leading when it's so directly about so many of your own clubmates who you're literally right about to go join up with.

I'm a bit lost on this one. When and why did Argentina start singing this song? It's not as if they've a massive rivalry going back over the years.

The song originated in Qatar in the run-up to the final, it was a fan-created song. It clearly is an objectionable song, but I think we all know that not all fan songs are acceptable whether it's 'Build a bonfire and put the scousers on the top', '10 German Bombers' or even Ireland fans singing 'They're dirty, they're greasy, we're going to beat them easy, Italy' back in the 1990s.

The French/Argentinian rivalry appears to have started with that Qatar final (although obviously not the first time they've met). It's unfortunate really. This was a candidate for the greatest game ever and it would have have nice if both teams had been able to share a subsequent camaraderie about the magnificence of the occasion they'd shared. But sadly (and a lot of it appears down to Argentina, Emilio Martinez in particular) the aftermath of that game seems to have been prolonged nastiness and bitterness. Therefore the song has stuck amongst Argentinian fans as France have become a source of hatred, almost on a level with Brazil.

That's just some background for you. Obviously the players subsequently singing it has brought it to another level way beyond an objectionable fan-song.

It centers around the £200m owed to 777 Partners who WILL go into administration and whose creditors will have to take a haircut - meaning Everton won't actually owe £200m. My guess is there is some disagreement between Moshiri and The Friedkin Group over how much that haircut will be and the consequent value of the club from that point onwards.

Added to the fact that 777 are involved in numerous litigation cases in the US amid accusations of fraud, implying that the £200m Everton owe is part of the money which 777 allegedly gained fraudulently - it's particularly sensitive to an American investor to get mixed up in all of that mess. Possibly not so for an investor of any other nationality.
