You were signalling a turn to the far right by SF before the LE's and the drop in their support BTW.

As FG and FF and the Greens have turned to the right on immigration I am certain sure SF will continue demanding that the rules and regs are properly and fairly enforced and that the appalling way the government is housing these people (or not) without local consultation must change.

I.E. the lack of proper enforcement and communication being the reason we are where we are.

Of course we will have the government supporters lining up next week to call that 'far right' and 'dog whistling', that's about all they have at this stage of the mess.

I think we got an indication of where SF are going on policy last night on Prime Time in Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire's discussion with the handwaving away Barry Ward FG.
He seemed to be saying that what is required is a formal process when establishing centres for accommodation with proper consultation with communities and provision of resources if they don't exist. Ward, of course denied that there was no consultation/communication.
On Tonight on TV3 Joan Burton was saying more or less the same thing.

The question was asked and Ward immediately did what you did, assumed the worst case scenario and tried to scaremonger.

The answer was predictably more sensible and devoid of scaremongering - a formal process need only take a short amount of time, the outcome of it was the important thing- a platform for people to have their concerns and needs properly addressed. Guess whose back went up when that was suggested?

We know the right and far-right are in favour of imposing their will on everyone. That was more or less what Ward was proposing - i.e. you can't allow communities a say.
Basically Ward had 'no solutions' on how to avoid Coolock's or Dundrums.
