Surely if Visma go for the stage, that would be a big concession of the yellow jersey by the team.

As an aside, probably old news, it's Ben Healy RR and Ryan Mullen RR&TT for the Olympics

    Megan Armitage women's RR

One rider sent on to win the stage which makes total sense.

For me, that must mean that Vingegaard isn't feeling it.

His Palmares would suggest he should be winning GT stages, but I always get the impression he’s not that bothered. He’s won the mountains jersey in the Vuelta and podiumed in the Criterium de Dauphine. Probably needs to do more Vuelta’s rather than TDF to get his stage win.

This was my gut feeling pre posting the original question.

Don't think that Vingegaard is looking great. I think that this might be a great chance for Evenepoel.

    Evenepoel should slow down

Vingo defending second place. Has admitted defeat here I think.

    Is Evenepoel waiting for Landa?

So much for the fiver I had on Carapaz. Pogacar is eating road

  • Registered Users Posts: 665 ✭✭✭Morris Garren

Pog puts 1 min into them in about 1.5km. Goodbye !

I’m not totally convinced he gets across to win the stage.

Pogacar just overcooked a bend, going up hill. Lad is on another planet.

this is going to be heartbreak for Jorgensen

Evenepoel v Vingegaard looks like Pogacar v Vingegaard from 2 years ago. Vingegaard on the wheel instantly when he broke away.

Evenepoel telegraphed it too much and Vingegaard was nearly quicker on the draw. That's something that Pogacar has got better at since then.

I know there will be doubts (although I don’t think he has access to anything Jonas and Remco et al don’t also have access to) but I’m off work and rejoicing in being able to watch live in TV one of the greatest physiological performances of all time in any sport

Ps Jonas and Remco are impressive just to limit this to 2 minutes

Some power and rhythm on show.

Something ironic in Hatch comparing Pogacar’s exploits to those of Pantanni.

If teddy wins then I think Carapaz needs at least 1 points to claim the KOM jersey

yawn…boring watch this lad motor up mountains day after day. Might as well give the rest electric bikes.

Sir Cav will be getting anxious 😁

    Stunning last 9km, chapeau.

Extremely strong ride by Jorgenson. Bodes well for his future grand tour ambitions.

I can’t remember ever seeing anything that impressive before.

I think that Pogacar's quality gap over the others was exaggerated today, as Evenepoel slowed down a lot and then they were only going at Landa's pace for a few km.

10th rider on GC is 22mins behind, wow.

Almedia to win a stage tomorrow as he looks to have really good legs.

I agree. Remco was never going to stay with Pog so he just paced himself, hoping to get the jump on Vingo at some point.

It's almost carbon copy reversal of last year with Jonas (and Remco) just not 100% fully recovered after their bad crash and Tadej in absolute peak form. If all were completely fit and injury free it would have been much closer.

I have to give credit to Remco. First TDF, still just a kid. I'm beginning to think he might have a GC win in there somewhere
