    Cork 1-1 Treaty

    (Byrne)

Treaty picked up an unlikely point away to the clear league leaders tonight.

It looked especially unlikely just 7 minues when when Thomas Considine (harshly, in my opinion) was penalised for handball in the box while trying to hook a ball clear, and Cork were 1 up. They continued to have more of the ball, but did very little with it for the most part, except for one header that was powered just over.

Out of nothing, we were level about 8 minutes before the break, when a shot from the edge of the box was parried but Alec Byrne was first to react and fire home.

It was much the same in the second half, with Cork attacking the Treaty final third for most of the game, but they never created too many clear chances, and we had the best chance of all, when a corner fell to Lee Devitt, who pulled his shot over. It was all Cork at the end, but they never fashioned anything clearcut, and we held on for a deserved point.

Next game: home to Longford, Friday May 31st, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-0 Longford

    (Mark Byrne)

After a long wait, Treaty finally goy back to winning ways tonight.

However, I was at a conference and associated pints afterwards, so saw nothing of the game.

Just going by twitter updates, we shaded an even first half, in which not much happened, and the second half was more or less the same, except we nicked a late goal when Mark Bryne poked home after something of a scramble.

Next game: away to Kerry, Monday June 3rd, 5pm.

I was at it. The first half was dirge. I've been into about seven home games this season and some have been borderline unwatchable at times but there was a period of about 20 minutes in the first half where I genuinely don't think either team strung together three passes

Second half started similar but it improved when Treaty made subs(Curran and Kirrane in particular) it increased the tempo and the quality.

The Longford keeper got some amount of abuse during the game, I know he had a season with Treaty but I'm just wondering if there is bad blood as it was relentless (and hilarious at times)

Bottom line is it's a win which is always good.

    Kerry 2-1 Treaty

    (Curran penalty)

Well that didn't last long - dreadful stuff down in the kingdom tonight.

Kerry were 1 up inside 1 minutes, when their forward got onto a nice sideways dinked pass into the box and held off a defender to poke past Chambers. We almost equalised from an almighty scramble in the box midway through the half, but Kerry forced Chambers into a couple of good saves and also hit the post, and they deserved their lead at halftime.

They were 2-0 up 8 minutes into the second half, when Evan O'Connor tried to cut out a low drilled ball across the 6-yard box but only succeeded in putting it into his own net. We didn't offer much for most of the half, though Curran brought a good save out of their keeper with a low first time shot from a cross. We got back into it when Curran smashed in a penalty after Devitt had been brought down by a lazy leg in the box, but Curran got a straight red not long after for what seemed to be an elbow to a Kerry player.

We pressed towards the end but never created anything clear - Kerry probably looked more dangerous on the break and held on for the win.

Next game: home versus Bray, Friday June 7th, 7.45pm

    Treaty 2-0 Bray

    (Mahdy, Lynch)

Super performance and a comfortable win against a team 10 points above us in the table.

Bray had the first chance when a low ball across the box generated a scramble of sorts, but it was mostly Treaty after that, for the rest of the game to be honest. We missed a couple of glorious chances to go ahead when Stephen Christopher first headed straight at the keeper, and later fired wide from right in front of goal, and then when Oisin O'Reilly took an age to set himself for a shot when he needed to hit it first time. But we did go ahead when a nice passage of play ended with a Christopher shot hitting the post, and Mahdy was on hand to tap in the rebound from a yard out.

We were 2 up 10 minutes into the second half. Christopher recyled a clearance and floated a cross to the far post, where Robbie Lynch rose to guide a super header back across goal and into the net. We remained more or less in control, but there were fewer chances as we withdrew a bit, and Bray really offered nothing at all for the rest of the game, and it was a very very comfortable victory.

Next game: away to Wexford, Thursday June 13, 7.45pm.

    Wexford 0-1 Treaty

    (Devitt)

I was just going by twitter updates for this, and it looks like we had Cory Chambers to thank for a number of good saves throughout the game, and we scored the only goal thanks to a Devitt strike about 10 minutes before half time.

We had Robbie Lynch sent off for a secnd yellow with about 10 to go, and Chambers rescued us again very late on, but it's a very nice away win, and 3 wins from 4 after so long without one.

Not sure if the midseason break next week is at a good time or not.

Next game: away to Athlone, Friday June 28th, 7.45pm.

    Athlone 1-0 Treaty

Back to the same grim stuff after a mid season break.

Athlone had more of the ball in the first 20 minutes, but didn't do a whole lot with it, while Treaty didn't do much when they had it either. Athlone went ahead when their striker got onto a dinked pass over the defence and poked past Chambers from a wide angle, and they could have had a second before half time when a deflected shot hit the post but mercifully came back into play.

In the second half it was more or the less the same for the first 20 minutes or so, with very little happening, but as we gradually got more direct, and as Athlone started to retreat and defend their lead, we finally came into the game. We came close a few times - Yoyo Mahdy had two good free kicks from range, and a low ball into the box caused a bit of a scrambled, as did a deflected shot that needed clearing off the line. Athlone missed chances to seal it on the break as well, but they held on for the win.

Next game: Home versus Cobh, Thursday July 4th, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 0-1 Cobh

We had some good news pre-match with the signing of Lee Lynch, and Croatian forward Trpimir Vrljicak, but it didn't translate into good news on the pitch.

I was not watching the game, so just going off twitter updates, and Cobh's twitter said it was even enough while Treaty's suggested that the home side were having the better of things, but it was Cobh who nicked the three points with a 90th minute winner.

Next game: away to UCD, Friday July 12th, 7.45pm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 303 ✭✭shannonman81

I was at it. Treaty were better for quite a bit of the game. New signing in the centre of midfield was very tidy in possession (Healy) and very energetic. Big Croatian lad came on and was a handful, not going to be beating people for pace or dribbling around people but he seems to know what type of footballer he is, hold up the ball bring others in and then cause chaos in the box.

Treaty were unlucky with the late goal but do need to create more chances, which I'd imagine in why Lee Lynch has been brought in.

    UCD 1-1 Treaty

    (Mark Byrne)

I was not watching this, just following twitter updates, with the Treaty twitter account describing the start as a 'quiet 20 minutes'. We scored from Mark Byrne just before halftime for an unlikely lead, but UCD equalised on the hour with a header from a corner.

They had a man sent off with about 20 minutes to go, and we brought on Lee Lynch in his first appearance since his return to Limerick, but neither he not fellow sub Enda Curran could make a difference, and it finished level.

Next game: Home in the FAI Cup versus Kilbarrack United, Friday July 19, 7.45pm.

FAI Cup 2nd Round: Treaty 0-0 Kilbarrack United

    Treaty win 4-1 on Penalties

Treaty had the better of the possession and territory tonight, but Kilbarrack probably missed the better chances.

Treaty looked like they'd control the game after the first 10 minutes, but Kilbarrack played their way back into it. We had the better chances in the first half, with a Curran shot saved and a diving Nwanko just failing to get the final fouch on a flicked on corner.

It was much the same in the second half, but we never fashioned anything clearcut while Kilbarrack had a couple of good chances, all from flicks that sent players in behind the defence. The first one was scooped over the keeper but went just wide, and the second, a chance to win it right on 90 minutes, went past the post also.

In extra time it was all Treaty as Kilbarrack withdrew to their final third to defend, which they did apart from a few half chances, but again, they had a chance to win it right at the death, but again, put it just the wrong side of the post.

Treaty went first in the penalties, and after Michael Dike had saved the first two Kilbarrack penalties, it was down to Oisin O Reilly to roll in Treaty's 4th successful penalty in a row and secure our place in the next round.

Next game: Home to Finn Harps, Friday July 26th, 7.45pm.

So what's this about? I had heard Treaty were getting Canadian funny money

That's Limerick FC who are currently underage only. Not the same as Treaty who are Canadian owned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,617 ✭✭✭RINO87

Sorry yeah should have said I knew all that Craic.... I had heard mentioned on a few LOI pods that Treaty were to get more Canadian investment and possibly a move back to the limerick name, then the underage Limerick post that... Pat did say "the club will be fine" I guess 🤣

Limerick are around for as long as they still have transfer percentages to make on some Irish internationals. Unless the Canadians give them enough to cover it but there is honestly no need. Treaty have nothing to gain from taking on the Limerick brand.

    Treaty 1-0 Finn Harps

    (Curran penalty)

Things were very much improved on recent performances tonight.

We were the better side for most of the game, and it was pretty much all down to the return of Lee Lynch, who constantly wanted and got the ball and used the ball positively. We played higher up the pitch, closed down better, and moved things faster when we had the ball.

We could have been 3 up by half-time. Enda Curran had a cross cleared off the line while claiming it had crossed the line, then fired narrowly wide across the keeper, then forced a superb triple save from the Harps keeper in a real scramble. Harps were led up from by former Treaty player Success Edogun, and his pace caused problems at times, but he never had any real chances.

We went one up after 50 minutes. A Lee Lynch pass sent Robbie Lynch in between two Harps defenders and he was bundled over in the area, with Curran placing the penalty low to the keeper's left. Harps' best chance of an equaliser came 10 minutes later, when Edogun fizzed a ball across the box and a good downward header seemed certain to hit the net, only for Cory Chambers to keep it out with his foot.

Harps pressed late on, but never really fashioned anything, and we wasted a real chance to seal it in the dying seconds when we gor two men in behind on the break after Harps had everybody up for a corner, but Considine placed his shot wide rather than pass to the unmarked Mahdy beside him, but it didn't matter in the end.

Next game: Home versus Cork, Friday August 2nd, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 1-1 Cork

    (Robbie Lynch)

Definitely feels like two points dropped the way the game ended tonight.

Teaty probably had the better of the first half, but I can't remember us creating any real chances - we dithered and overplayed on a few occasions when we had the opportunity to fashion a chance. Cork forced one good save out of Chambers, but otherwise looked fairly disinterested.

We took the lead a minute into the second half, when Cork gave it away and a lovely passage of play set Robbie Lynch up to fire home. We gave as good as we got after that, but as the half wore on, we dropped deeper and deeper, and the last 15 mintues was more or less a siege of our goal, though we did waste one chance on the counter.

It looked like we'd seen it out without Cork having come all that close, but a 97th minute long ball caught Treaty out, and a cork player got in behind to finish smartly. There was only time for Treaty to hoof the kickoff vaguely towards the Cork goal, before the ref blew the final whistle.

Next match: away to Longford, Saturday August 10th, 7.30pm??

    Longford 1-4 Treaty

    (Curran x 3, Devitt)

Super performance away to fellow strugglers Longford tonight.

We were the better team all night, and had already had some half chances before we went ahead after 18 minutes, when we won a breaking ball just outside the box and laid it off to Enda Curran who curled a shot over the keeper and into the roof of the net.

We were 2-0 up not long after. Curran was brought down while receiving the ball from corner set piece, and he converted the penalty himself. Longfor scored out of nothing when a lovely ball in behind the defence ended up with a super save from Chambers, but the same player was able to tap in the rebound.

Longford had a decent enough spell after that, and Treaty were the one waiting for the half-time whistle but when a long clearance after a Longford attack fell perfectly for Curran to get in behind, he wasted no time in rifling in a shot into the bottom left corner ant it was 3-1 Treaty at the break.

10 minutes into the secons half it was 4-1 when Lee Devitt ghosted into the area and his glancing header directed a cross into the bottom right corner.

Things calmed down a bit after that, as we sat back, and took Curran off, and Longford did have a couple of chances to pull one back, and we missed a super chance when young David Tarmey collected a Christopher ball over the top on the chest and poked a ball over the keeper but agonisingly over the bar too. That was probably the last chance of note for Treaty, as things petered out towards the final whistle, though Chambers did have to tip an injury time shot over the crossbar.

Next game: FAI Cup Third Round: Treaty versus Pike Rovers, Friday August 16, 7.45pm.

    Treaty 7-0 Pike Rovers

(Devitt x3, Curran (pen), Vrljičak x 2, Robbie Lynch)

Local bragging rights well and truly with the LOI side after tonights' derby match.

Treaty were utterly dominant all night long against the LDSL side who were missing a couple of players and lacking fitness too. We were ahead within a minute, when the ball pinballed around a bit in the box, with Treaty players shouting for a penalty, but Lee Devitt curled a lovely shot to the right of the Pike keeper high into the net. It was 2-0 within 4 minutes, when Enda Curran converted a penalty after he'd been brought down.

It was 3-0 after 36 minutes, when a lovely Lee Lynch ball sent Devitt through and he cool placed the ball past the keeper, and it was 4-0 on 40 minutes when Croatian forward Trpimir Vrljičak scored his first for the club (I cannot remember how this goal came about. EDIT: Watched the highlights and it was a diving header from a Devitt cross).

Devitt made it a hattrick right at the start of the second half with a neat low poked finish from a ball into the box, and Vrljičak got his second when he headed in after the keeper had come for a cross he shouldn't have. David Tarmey blazed over soon afterwards, but it was 7-0 when a Devitt corner bounced around a bit before Robbie Lynch smashed in from close range.

On the one hand, great to watch for Treaty fans, and they can only gain confidence, no matter the quality of the opposition. On the other hand, hard not to feel sorry for Pike,as they were just hopelessly outclassed all over the pitch.

I was at the Pike game too. Only walking in the gate I heard they were missing a few. Up until then I thought they might put it up to treaty but it wasn't to be.

Treaty were utterly dominant throughout even after a raft of changes at half time.

As for feeling sorry for Pike! 🤔
