Pretty toned back this year. Weak enough lineup

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭jasT1981

I am not sure if the BBMF will make it after the sad loss of their pilot Mark Long a few weeks ago. They are still grounded and have pulled out of a show the week before Bray.

Definitely very poor line up this year don't know what else they can get

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,742 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

That'd be a shame. A couple of years ago they flew right over my house on the way into Baldonnel, the noise was something else (in a really good way)

I was copying old photos onto a new laptop yesterday and came across a load of pics from Flightfest in 2013, a pity nothing like that has happened since.

    Scrap the cap!

Aer Lingus Airbus A320neo added to the show

BBMF Lancaster has been cleared to return to displays.

Jordanian Falcons arrived in Weston today little bit early

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 chimp77

They seem to arrive early every year. Suprised they are not based out of Baldonnel while here, are they not classed as a military team?

They were at RIAT at the weekend so likely would have had to move on. Their display is really excellent this year.

Anyone know if the Air Corps will be displaying a C295?

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭jasT1981

Beechcraft, Dove, and Goose added to line up

CASA 295 is mentioned in the event programme which can be found on the website

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

Thanks. I'll take a look. The Goose has been in the UK for maintenance for several months. I hadn't heard that it was back yet.

Im on hols so cant go this year. But every year I try to get there for 1130. (DART from Tara/Pearse)
Gives me time to have a walk around, grab a bit of lunch and settle somewhere before the crowds arrive after 1pm.

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 chimp77

Does anyone have an info on the Lancaster arrival. Is it due in on Friday into Bal?

    Thanks

A Spitfire just flew down the Liffey towards Weston or Bal so I'm guessing will be displaying.

Just landed in Weston. A glorious sight to see in the skies over Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

Jordanian Falcons did practice at Bray and now heading for a practice at Rush.

They've just finished up in Rush this last few minutes… Fantastic view, and the iPhone camera doesn't do it justice at all…

Thanks for the headsup! I heard an unusual engine noise and raced out in D5 and saw the 4 Jordanian Falcons passing.

Saw them a while ago over Leixlip. Is the Spitfire still out in Weston?

Lineup does not look great this year. Although I'll still be going. My first Bray Airshow since before the Pandemic.

Are there any websites that I can listen to the ATC for the show. I see from the FAQ that "ATC on 119.60 MHz", or do I need to have a proper air-band radio.

C295 overhead a couple of time in South Dublin. I'm guessing practise for the weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,742 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

So nothing interesting coming into Baldonnel this weekend then? 😕

    Scrap the cap!

  • Registered Users Posts: 31 chimp77

    Was out on Weston earlier very quiet,no doubt the wind wasn't helping. Do we know what is out there;

    Falcons

    Spitfire,

Mustang, Jet pitts, Stearmans for the Wing Walkers did any of these make it over from the UK?

  • Registered Users Posts: 416 ✭✭Rock Solid

No Viggen don't blame him not coming, nothing exciting at Baldonnel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

To my knowledge those aircraft listed in your last line have not arrived in Weston, as yet anyway. The Spitfire is not listed in the programme so may be a substitute. If the weather on Saturday morning is OK you may see some making the sea crossing. Bray has been plagued with changeable weather around the show date on several occasions and this year is no exception.

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭jasT1981

Spitfire was on the website, then disappeared but is now in Dublin. T6 Texan was also meant to come with the Spitfire and P51 but it disappeared from listings too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 351 ✭✭jasT1981

Viggen was never on the schedule for this year at Bray :(

The Blades RV8s are heading up towards North Wales at the moment so presumably en route to Weston or Newcastle.

G-JPIT Pitts is passing Holyhead also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

Mustang G-BIXL flew Duxford to Sleap (Shropshire) last evening so will presumably continue this morning.

Anyone have a running order for today yet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭emo72

What's landing at Weston today. I'm keeping a watch out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

P-51 Mustang is over North Wales at the moment, en route to Weston.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭emo72

    Deadly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,321 ✭✭✭emo72

Have you got a tracker for it, didn't see it on flight radar

Not a Airshow, it's a small gathering of interested people all trying to make a few bob. And organising people trying to convince you and me to attend same and spend money in the town.

    Really bad this year!!

    Catalina inbound...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,975 ✭✭✭Storm 10

Completely agree it's a terrible lineup this year nothing exciting all prop planes and they say the star of the show is the Aer Lingus A320 you see them every few minutes over Dublin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Dublin atc could possibly step in and say feck off. Bring me a proper lineup before you get approval.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

And why Bray???? Can't get in or outta that place. Dunlaoire would be much better suited for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,116 ✭✭✭Mech1

Get it government funded, they can pull in jets etc if they want to ask. Employ Ukraine refugees to sell programs and airband radios and whatever suits and control the charged parking all along the seafront from Dublin to Bray. All proceeds go to feed next year, or go to Ukraine war fund. Sorted.

Watching on utube nothing happening very small crowd there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,088 ✭✭✭EchoIndia

There's a decent crowd. People take up vantage points all the way to top of Bray Head. No grumpy old guys around either.

At least no big gap between displays this year.
