Time for new log book to be sent?

Hi all,

I changed cars on July 9th. Send the change of ownership form on July 10th but I still haven’t got the new logbook posted to me. In the past these have been sent very quickly. When I check my reg on the motortax.ie site, it says that the department was notified in July 12th but nada since. What’s the best route here? Apply for a replacement?

In case it’s relevant, vehicle is N1 registered.

Has the new logbook been issued yet? It should say this if it has been:

So that means they’ve changed the ownership but haven’t sent out a new logbook yet

OK thanks again. So is it a case of nothing unusual / concerning and it’ll arrive when it arrives?

If they were notified on the 12th then I would have expected the new logbook to be sent a couple of days later. I’d consider following up with them to find out the reason for the delay

This just prompted me to check motortax.ie too, bought car 22/6/24 and site says ownership transferred 22/6/24, cert issued 25/6/24... but I haven't received it either. Got the motor tax bill through the post fine though and paid it online (interestingly the online pin supplied on the tax letter wouldn't work so had to request another).

If the cert was issued on the 25th you’d usually expect it to arrive 2/3 days later unless it lands on a Weekend

Thanks…. I'll try phoning tomorrow but looking at motortax.ie I might have to visit a Motor Tax office in person via a Garda station with form RF134 (although that's a broken download link on their website) and pay a fee to get the thing in the post again!

Yeah its a big headache if it goes missing in the post

Took 2 and half weeks for my change of ownership to show on the motortax site back at the start of the year, then a further week or more for my logbook to arrive.

I would say that it might be due to the time of the year with all the new cars currently being registered.

You could always email them and see what they say, but also took them a week to reply when I emailed them.

Thanks. That’s a helpful data point. Been on hold now for 23 minutes so email will be the way to go. Hadn’t thought of the volume at this time of year, makes sense.
