100%, 4 is near my limit too now. And prefer out early and home early if possible!

I’m exactly the same too, constant leg pain that never goes away. Always at a 1 minimum, small achey dull pain. Been to the doctor and had scans, legs and knees are perfect and say the pain is coming for a back problem.
id actually love to try Pilates or some form or stretching classes

heated yoga will turn your life around. I would highly recommend it to anyone, unfortunately, the place i used to go closed due to covid so i have to make do going to the gym 3 times a week after milking, if i stop going i cease up completely. Im on the over forties team aswell.

Does anyone else experience falling asleep in front of a computer screen? It doesn't happen every day, but it's not uncommon either. I could be sitting at the PC, and suddenly fall asleep without warning. It happens alot when looking at DoneDeal for some reason. Watching a video on Youtube is another regular trigger. I think the lack of warning is the most alarming part. Usually wouldn't be asleep for more than a few minutes, I'd say.

It can happen watching TV at night too, but I'm usually more aware that it's about to happen then….

nearly 50 luckily packed in off farm job this year. Healthy except knee surgeries from football final caught up & have arthritis in one, need to find something to manage it

Falling asleep like that for years. Youtube videos or computer screens or reading are the worst. I do an average of 25k steps a day and under 7 hours sleep. When the cows are dried off and the step count halves the problem goes away.

First child born here 10 years ago, 18mnths before first full nights sleep was had, we finally copped on & rotated the nights after 6mnths

Second one arrived 5 years ago & after a v stressful & problematic pregnancy thankfully was delivered OK, issues with ears for 2 years involving waking 3-4 times every night...finally resolved after covid delays last year

Kids whilst the best in the world & wouldn't change a thing will fupping age you v quickly once over 35 I think.

Loved & could tolerate a good feed of pints before but nowadays 5-6 im done & I'm conscious of the nxt day, all the better if you can slip away around 11😁

This was me too. It was so bad I could nod off in mid conversation. Got diagnosed with sleep apnea and got chap machine. Never looked back.
i find intermittent fasting great for keeping the weight off. 52 years old 6 ft1 and a tight fifteen stone. All down to not eating till afternoon noon and not after 6.30pm. Also eat more protein than carbs and no bread

a question for all of ye talking about intermittent fasting, is it basically skipping breakfast and just eating around 1 and again around 5 / 6 and leaving it at that. I probably have 2 stone to loose, sounds like this could be a good job.

Hi, why not use this thread and all the support of your virtual boardies buddies to motivate yourself. I'm lucky I don't have weight issues but I think that's cause I'm very active. Start with a couple of small things and it might motivate you. I trust you can turn things around and I'm sure others are likewise. Be strong

Who is doing the shopping for the house. If the shiite ain't in the cupboard, you are less lightly to eat it. I gave up smoking AGAIN, a few months ago and I'm eating every thing I can see. But hopefully it will calm after a while.

Write down every thing you eat, it will keep your mind focused.

Intermittent fasting is fine, but you still can't do the dog in it, when you are allowed to eat.

A very unscientific opinion but any job where you sit down is a disaster for putting on weight

MyFitnessPal app is widely used to track your foods. Can scan barcodes but for accurate result, ya'd need to weight the grub yer eating

    Meanwhile

it’s something like that but you can tune it to suit yerself. Some people get in down to one meal a day. But again it’s whatever you’re able for yerself. I find coffee during the morning great for keeping hunger off. Adult generally don’t need all the food we eat. Our bodies finished growing years ago

I’m after turning 60 and still going strong, I still feel 20 until I look in the mirror, slowing down at 40 ye must be doing something wrong.

Genetics has more to do with ageing and slowing down I imagine, than amount of meals and whatever else.

Haven’t read the whole thread but got the essence of it.

Seems to me there’s an employment, tax break, grant sort of opportunity here - support older farmers to keep doing what they do well - as long as it supports green agenda /agreed farming practices?

Here s a tip for anyone wanting to get fit -have bad fencing where you keep your in calf heifers.went down to them after milking to find in the wrong field.only just in the door.….…and hungry.

While full disclosure I've never been one for doing a lot of physical work like some I think it's in your imagination. I'm almost 40 and feel nothing different. 40s are prime still surely, not like we're doing olympics. For 50s as someone else said yes I think there is a slowing down you can't shake off so easily, still lots of farmers 70+ going strong.

Ah now, surely an app isnt needed to tell the difference between shite and good food. If something doesn't look like it grew or lived and your mother didn't bake it, don't put it the basket. Most supermarkets are full to the brim with unhealthy food.

On the physical side, I'd say a lot are confusing ageing with unfitness. While ageing counts for a little, one is going to be a lot more debilitated from lack of muscle tone and flexibility.

That is of course aside of any underlying medical conditions.

The old saying to breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and sup like a pauper was quoted here recently and is a good a good as any.
