A big thank you rameire for setting up the race threads. Enjoy your four week break.

No F1 for me this weekend unfortunately, only work. Will see if theres a replay sometime during the week and watch it, if the reports indicate an eventful race. Otherwise will have to be happy with just seeing the results.

    Enjoy the race all.

Had look around for weather forecasts , three different sources.

    https://www.gpfans.com/us/f1-news/1025940/f1-2024-belgian-grand-prix-weather-forecast/

    Belgian Grand Prix weather forecast

    Friday, July 26: FP1 and FP2

Looking at the current forecast, the weekend at Spa appears to be a bit of a gamble weather-wise.

Friday's practice sessions are expected to see sunny intervals with
light winds. However, a 28% chance of rain hangs over the 1:30pm local
start time for the first practice, continuing through to the second and
    final session of the day.

Temperatures will be pleasant, reaching a high of 23 degrees Celsius and dropping to a low of 14 degrees.

    https://scuderiafans.com/2024-f1-belgian-gp-weather-forecast-how-spa-francorchamps-weekend-will-be-affected-by-weather-conditions/
    Friday

The Belgian weekend comes right after Budapest. Teams will have two
hours of free practice, and the weather might not be favorable. Rain is
expected throughout the day, with temperatures around 20°C.

    Saturday

The situation should improve on Saturday. Temperatures will
consistently be around nineteen degrees, and no precipitation is
expected during the day. However, the sky will be quite cloudy.

    Sunday

Temperatures will be around twenty degrees when the cars hit the
track for the fourteenth race of the 2024 Formula 1 season. There will
be rain in the morning, although the race itself is expected to be dry.

I feel it will be a bit like last weekend . Rain during some part of Qual

Late notice but I have Gold 3 Eau Rouge stand tickets for this weekend, I won't be there for Friday so if anyone was going and wanted some shelter from that predicted range (and allegedly the best view in F1) post here and I'll see can I get the Friday tickets to you.

Trying to predict the weather for Spa is like picking the lottery numbers.

It is what makes this place so magical, along with Schumacher in 1991 in the Jordan. Am I right @Jordan 199

Wouldn't be a fan of the car design but those helmets don't look too bad actually.

I see talk that Max might be taking that grid penalty this weekend for going over the 4 engines allowed, so another chance for Lando to gain some ground. ☹️

Rebull , Williams & Aston have not specifed any updates for this weekend.
    Everyone else is

Just saw an article with headline "Verstappen ordered by Red Bull to stop late night gaming ahead of Belgian Gran Prix. Article behind a paywall but must be info online somewhere.

Sky just showed an interview between Slater and Max there, thought it was very good. Him sim racing the night before was not the cause of his venting during the race - it was the **** race strategy.

    FP1 about to start.

Will be interesting to see this weekend which team are effected most by the new flexi wing regulations.

Verstappen 10 place grid penalty confirmed

And Yuki will start from the back.

    FP1

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,396 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

FP2 was much closer, some teams running a back to back on a low to higher DF levels.

With a bit of rain tomorrow, it will be interesting to see what the teams choose, parc ferme means they have to pick a set up for whatever the race is, which right now looks dry.

    FP2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,439 ✭✭✭✭Wanderer78

..if the clock runs out, without anyone returning to the track, is that the end of the session?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,323 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

Yes. In free practice sessions, the session time continues for red flags, but in qualifying it'll stop. Race is slightly different in that the laps will stop, but the race can be no longer than 2 hours in a 4 hour window

any good rain radars for the track?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,708 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

This website is ok for radar forecast. Not accurate, but not terrible either. Just use the + symbol to zoom into the track location.

And that’s why Bernie Collins is a great addition to the sky team. She is so good at explaining things.

Weather is horrendous for f2. Race start delayed.

4.3kWp South facing PV System. South Dublin

The F2 sprint has been postponed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Race postponed, probably will go ahead after f1 qualifying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Wet to start with so expect red flags

Good for that he won’t be out qualified by Sargent again today, nice work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,287 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

An Alpine (Ocon) into Q3. Yay!!

It looks like redbull have had the best case scenario here then.

LeClerc snatches pole then with Max taking his penalty - Max has been comfortably ahead of the rest here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So Charles Leclerc finishes second but will start on pole.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Demolition job from Max at Spa again. Maybe the rest of the drivers should be hopping on iRacing. 😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,282 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Big race for Checo tomorrow starting on the front row, he really needs to get the win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,583 ✭✭✭Dave0301

It should hopefully make it interesting as I assume he will be deployed to make things uncomfortable for Norris and to bring Verstappen into the race. Red Bull have been unable to do much due to Checo's patchy qualifying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,396 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

Max was untouchable for every session. I wonder will it translate to the race tomorrow, if it’s dry.

Checo with a solid effort, just don’t bin it tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,732 ✭✭✭weisses

Indeed ... 0.6 seconds quicker then nr2 ...dominating qualifying and all they can come up with is the 10 sec penalty

Imagine their comments If Lewis would have done what Max just did

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,618 ✭✭✭amber2

    Edit

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,073 ✭✭✭Busman Paddy Lasty

Missed the qualifying today. Is Max on a wet strategy to get pole I.e. P11 but will not be set up as good for Sunday?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,669 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

No, I think he and Perez just went for a higher downforce package for better pace in the middle sector of the lap - gives a better overall lap time and also helps in the wet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Red Bull also have a huge DRS advantage for the straights. Can see Max on podium tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,073 ✭✭✭Busman Paddy Lasty

Sound, hopefully will be a cracking race then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,849 ✭✭✭✭AMKC
    Ms

Well that had to be one of the most boring qualifying sessions ever. Maybe the race will be better.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Why do you actually bother to watch f1 at all yet alone spout your dribble here because every time it’s this is crap this is boring.
