Disaster with Tucker inside edging onto the stumps.

117/6. 41 needed now and just the bowlers really to try to win this for Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Tucker out 56.

    41 still needed

    Squeaky bum time.

Ireland running a five earlier without an overthrow involved is not something you see every day in a test match

117/6. tucker gone. need 41 to win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

18 to win, should be straightforward from here. Decent recovery today after the shambles yesterday afternoon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,330 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

good decision not to take lunch with 11 required

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,330 ✭✭✭✭y0ssar1an22

great win. fair play. still issues with the top order, largely the same who failed in the t20 world cup.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

A great win. Fantastic play from the 3 batsmen today. Not just to win but in the end comfortably enough

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 522 ✭✭✭ledwithhedwith

great win, pretty cool to have the 2nd one closely followed by the first. I think I’m right on that anyways.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

great job. Only annoying aspect was the camera work at the end not picking up the winning shot in realtime… focusing on the non striker McBrine 🫤 for some reason.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭VillaMad

82 runs and 7 wickets from McBrine, a truly fantastic performance.

Everyone was down in the dumps last night, but it was a different story today with the conditions much easier and McBrine, Tucker and Adair all hit some lovely shots.

A special moment for the side to win a home test match.

Watched the end of it. I didn't think it was over last night but wouldn't have made them favourites, and definitely didn't think it'd be that comfortable in the end. Just need a win in malahide now, even just a match in malahide would be nice 🫤

    here is a nice stat…

Back to back test wins for Ireland. 😎

I don't know what it is about 4th innings for Ireland, they always seem to struggle... I wonder if you took every country's record in a 4th innings where they were chasing the target and counted up the total number of runs and the total number of wickets lost and did a bit of simple division. I wonder where Ireland would rank...

Only Australia, England and Afghanistan got to their second test win in a lower amount of matches than Ireland

This is great. Ireland deserves to play more test matches.

Irish girls beaten by Sri Lanka in Pembroke. A fairly convincing defeat unfortunately…

Ireland 145/6 from their 20. Chased down in 16.4 overs. Sri Lankans only lost 3 wickets over the course of their chase. Looked from the bits I saw that like the men’s team it was a case of just not finding enough wickets but one gimmie simple catch was put down, another more difficult one put down too and just the challenge of beating Sri Lanka would be hard enough but when you don’t take those chances it really doesn’t make your job any easier.

Great result for the Ireland Women's team beating Sri Lanka in the 2nd T20.

Good to see some movement on the new cricket ground. 4k capacity isn't great but it'll be good to have a national ground as such.

Build it and they will come. Bit of a pain to get to tho.

Another great result for the Ireland women's team, beating Sri Lanka in the first ODI. Fantastic performance by Orla Prendergast, 122 n/o with the bat and 3 wickets too!

Cracking Irish Senior Cup Final in the Mardyke this afternoon. Phoenix (211 a/o) beat Merrion (210 a/o) by 1 run! Merrion needed 2 runs to win from the last 2 balls, but their no. 11 was out giving Phoenix a dramatic win by the narrowest of margins.

Looking at the scorecard, Merrion's 18 wides and 1 no ball were the difference between winning and losing. (Phoenix bowled only 5 wides).

Ireland women's team put in another decent batting performance, 255/5 in the second ODI, SL 127 with 23 overs remaining, 8 wickets in hand. SL probably favourites at this stage...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Happy to be wrong, Ireland win again! Decent run of form by the women's team..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 396 ✭✭StormForce13

Yep. They won despite the absence of their high scoring captain (Gaby Lewis), as well as Orla Prendergast being out cheaply. Good to see.

Today is National Cup Final day at the Mardyke, and, unlike yesterday's nailbiter, it looks as though the Russians are cruising to an easy win against Strabane.

Latest score: Rush 281/8, Strabane 112/7.

Interestingly, veteran John "Boy" Mooney is playing for Strabane; that's a very long way from Fingal where he started his career with Balrothery, more than thirty years ago.

Tough start for Women's Team in 3rd ODI v SL, 10/3 after 5.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Sri Lanka always in control, win at ease. Ireland win series 2-1.

Best wishes to former Irish international cricket Simi Singh who has been very unwell.

He developed a high fever six months ago in Dublin and whilst awaiting full diagnosis, decided to move back to India for medical care before he was eventually diagnosed with acute liver failure. He has had a successful liver transplant today according to his cousin.

Good to hear the last sentence of that, I only found out he was ill, he's only 37 as well, hopefully comes right

good news last I heard he was still waiting on the transplant… that’s great news….

Had a very decent career. His last cricket match according to the resource im looking at was a year ago to the day..

Internationally I’m seeing he played 88 limited overs games for us. Pretty committed. Probably won’t see him in an Irish shirt again as he is almost 38 and this will take some recovery but good luck to him..

England W set Ireland W 321 to win in the second ODI, big ask, Ireland were decent in the first ODI but England won at a canter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Dreadful performance with the bat, embarrassing really. 45 all out, Raymond-Hoey hit 22, extras were 5 so the rest of the team scored 18 between them. England are an excellent side but this is shocking by Ireland..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Much better in the 3rd ODI by the ladies to be fair

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

I see balbirne has been dropped for Ireland's 3 t20s v SA later in the month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Virgin showing the 1st T20 between Ireland and England Women. Rare enough to see any cricket on Irish TV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Proving to be a bit of a struggle for Ireland. 38/4 off 7 overs is response to 177 for England. Scoring at just over 5 an over need to double that realistically.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Easy in the end for England- 76 run win. Hopefully Ireland can get a little closer tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Better performance so far by Ireland women in the final T20. 70/1 off 9, 100 needed off 11, probably unlikely but hopefully they can at least go close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

45 off 26 needed. 8 wickets in hand

Fantastic win with a very nervy last over. Prendergast has batted brilliantly both today and yesterday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Fantastic result, I thought it would be beyond them but delighted to be wrong. They have shown some character as a team in recent times some great results and some very poor ones but they bounce back each time. Prendergast is some player.

Ireland batting after losing the toss to SA in the t20i. Good start, 21/0 in the second over. Stirling and rosd Adair opening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Jinxed it. Adair out for 18

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Stirling was out a couple of balls later. Tector and camper going well and Ireland 63/2 after 6 overs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,595 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Kinxed again. V soft dismissal and tector out for 16

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,947 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Campher and Rock going well, only 3 down, hopefully get up to a par score….170 - 180 would be handy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

Ireland reach 171, difficult to know how good that score is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,623 ✭✭✭MFPM

SA need 75 off 60 with 10 wickets in hand...a walk in the park for them unfortunately.

That's a bit of a hammering for Ireland. 8 wicket defeat.
