Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Intermittent Squealing

Hi all would anybody know what the cause of this could be, I dont think it has anything to do with the engine/belt as it happens when I take my foot off the accelerator. Today ive noticed its happening when I turn the wheel slightly to the left while driving. Has been ongoing the last few weeks its a head scratcher. Its not a loud squeal just annoying as you can hear it in the cabin. Power steering isnt hydraulic either.

    Thanks all.

Check condition of the fan belt, could be slipping along a pulley every now and then.

Spray the belt with water while it's squealing and if it stops it's the belt, or maybe a pulley but it'll be one of those.

Belt is moving fast when you're accelerating and when you let off it slows down a lot, in line with engine rpm, may squeal and slip as the pulleys are slowing down, that's my logic anyway

Thanks for that. It doesn’t squeak whatsoever when at idle or revving the engine and when I first noticed the sound it tended to be only when driving on an uneven surface (but that could be just coincidental). I was even thinking it could be something to do with the brakes as when I tend to brake when the squeal is there it stops.

Will check the belt out thanks again.

Anything to do with electrical load? Does it go away if you switch off fan and heated windows and radio?

If the squeal stops when braking it would lead to a sticking caliper being the culprit
