Battery Question - Mk3 Focus

We noticed the start/stop on our 10 year old mk3 Focus 1.6tdci wasn't working recently. Then we noticed the electric power steering was heavier at times. Dr Google said it could be the steering rack, but it would normally show a warning on the dash and to start with the battery. Had the battery checked Yesterday and it's weak. Not surprising as it's the original Ford/Varta battery. First time replacing a start/stop battery. Any buying/selection advice, brands to go for and avoid, etc. Thanks.

Go onto the likes of micksgarage or halfords online and put your car make/model in there and it should return suitable batteries. Most batteries used for stop/start are heavy duty and more expensive that the traditional ones. Check the duration of the warranty on each brand though as it can vary a good bit. Halford's own branded batteries are supposed to be good but have no experience of them. Halfords will usually fit it for you too.

Thanks. Yeah I'm seeing that the prices for the stop/start are a good bit more expensive. Will take a look online.

Just make sure the new one is 75aH and 700A, use the part number and you can't go wrong, the FINIS or the part number will do.

    This should fit

    Yuasa YBX7096 12V 75Ah 700A EFB Start Stop Battery

Thanks. Compatible batteries coming in around €200. Ford dealer €295.

What are Exide brand batteries like, or would Halfords own brand be better?

Exide €139 delivered from Mr Auto. I believe it's a 3 year warranty.

Halfords own brand €168 (Derry branch). 5 year warranty. I think Yuasa may make them, unsure.

Have you tried your local motor factors

5 year warranty with the Halford's one is hard to beat.

Yeah seems to be the best price Vs warranty for an EMB 110.

Pretty sure they take a calcium battery as they have a smart charge system too. Also, it might need a relearn of the battery with a scan tool if the Stop/Start system doesn't work after the battery was disconnected

Fords have a passive BMS relearn, it'll do it automatically after a few drive cycles, or you can download Forscan for free and pay 14 euro for the extended version and code in the battery there and then.

I included an image of the sticker from the original battery with my first post. How would I tell that it's a calcium battery. Local motor factors said from my reg that it was an EMB 110?
