hi, does anyone know how long after getting assigned your role and department you might start? Just got assigned my department yesterday

Hi all,

I got placed a message informing that I have been assigned to a department last week. I am just going through enhanced sec checks which is grand.

So the thing is - I am in another public service body and happy enough where I am. So when it comes time to agree a start date etc. with the new department I will have a decision to make. Not sure if I will take new place. I am currently a HEO

Does anyone know how long enhanced security checks take? If I know this, I can plan current workload, questions I will ask new department and current workplace, and it will make my decision a bit easier maybe.

Hi folks, can you help me understand - am on clearance stage. They have asked from my detailed Mark sheet from my masters. Can you please advise if masters in financial management if degree from financial discipline. Did it from IPA . I applied in business/ finance stream.

I had my interview today ( batch 2) for Dep Environment. It was a long interview 1 hrs 15mins. Some was very tough. You definitely need to know your presentation inside out. The quick round of questions at the end were rapid and I stumbled on them as they were at the very end of a tough interview. Fingers crossed I made it through

They asked alot of questions. Where my resources were from why I chose the topic I chose. Then they asked probing questions on the facts and findings I presented. You need to know it inside out.

How did you get on?

Just going to throw in some advice for people in this campaign and the same one next year that haven't got assigned. I know a decent amount of people have been excluded at the very final stage after getting through the 3 aptitude tests, interview and presentation and garda vetting, based on their degree modules not the degree itself. None of which was stated at any stage in the campaign application booklet or at any stage afterward.

My brother was excluded from the HR campaign at the assignment stage after they decided he didn't have enough HR modules in his final year to qualify as a specialisation. He had 35 to 40% HR modules and they wanted over 50% HR modules.

It was never stated in the information booklet or when he asked them at the beginning and he had his transcripts in 7 months ago. This information was only revealed after he pushed for a formal review. He was in the top 10 in the campaign.

It's a very poor way to treat people but not unsurprising. From what I gather this is happening more and more particularly on the AO specialist streams so just so people are aware, nothing is guaranteed until they assign you and they can and will refuse people on conditions not previously outlined at any point. You don't have much recourse either barring a couple of reviews they themselves look at.

Results are out. I've passed but can't see oom. How did everyone else get on. Did you get your oom on email?

Yes I also got called for clearance. I'm already in Cs so don't have to do garda vetting again.

I was grilled on my presentation for a good 20 minutes so you really need to know it inside out. I used primary research methods ( newspaper articles ) and govt policy papers for data as well as company websites and research papers. Anyone know how long clearance takes?

Wiw that was quick. When do they want you yo start?

not until mid october. Excited to get started !

I'm still waiting for clearance to finalise. Almost 6 weeks now. Very frustrating as I can't make any plans regarding childcare until I know when I'm starting and days in office etc.. Is anyone else facing these delays? Please share your experiences
