Hausken vs M48 Moderator for a 300 Win Mag

I absolutely love my 300 Win Mag but I don't take it out too much because there is a brake on it, so not only is it loud, but I can't take her out when I'm hunting with someone else.

I was looking at getting a Moderator for it. I have an RCC M48 (for another rifle) and it is fantastic to keep the noise down but it makes a gun a little top heavy. My friend has a Hausken and it does a great job too but we both use 270s.

My question is this, which mod would be best for a Magnum cartridge like the 300 win mag. Does anyone use any other Mod on a magnum cartridge?

I've been using a hausken on my .270 for maybe 3 seasons, only putting maybe 20 shots through it a season. It's a good light moderator but I've found mine has a lot of pitting from the hot combustion gasses. I imagine this would be exacerbated with the larger powder charge of the .300 Win Mag. Maybe something made of steel or titanium might be better?

The pitting hasn't affected the performance in any way I should add, it's just a mild nuisance to see it when I take it apart to clean it.

Using a Hausken Moderator on a R8 300 Win Mag 9-10 years now, I don't shoot more than 30-40 rounds a season it is still going strong. Great moderator also have atec, Stalon etc all very good but highly recommend the Hausken

@725b Sounds great, do you know which Hausken model it is exactly? My Threads are 1/2 x28 UNEF (an awful thread for a 300WM).

@TheEngineer1 I heard that too alright, nice to see it verified, thanks.

I ended up getting the Hausken WD60 Moderator. Will try it out this weekend.

Moderator works great. multiple rounds through it and did not need ear protection at all.
