Hi Folks, asking for a friend looking at the Tams grant for solar.

I heard rumours that you wouldn't get the domestic FIT tariff if you went with the Tams grant for install. Any merit in that?

quick question sorry if already asked. Can you use the training course cert from TAMS 2 for a claim on TAMS 3?

if it’s the Health and Safety you’re talking about I think it has to be within 5 years

I see on Ag food my status moved to approved for payment, how long can I expect to be waiting now to receive money?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,054 ✭✭✭dmakc

Could take 7-10 days in my exp

got approval last week to start the slatted shed, applied in February, luckily, things seem to have drastically improved from last year

I've just finished TAMS Solar install. I'm newly signed up with a normal domestic smart tariff and feed in tariff. However, the value is in reducing your normal consumption. The FIT will not make our break the investment.

Just completed my first TAM's 3 grant process. Applied for grass harrow on the 30th Nov 2023, grant approved 27th Mar 2024 and claim paid on the 1st Aug 2024. So, only waiting the 9mths…….Never seen such an inefficient process in all my life. I cant imagine what sort of time it would take if there were any queries along the way.

I was in no panic for it but still frustrating process to go through. I can imagine some would get caught out in the period between grant approval and grant payment. As you can see. I purchased the harrow end of March and wasn't reimbursed until today. 4mths is a long time waiting and if it was a big investment, a shed for example you could feel the pinch on cash flow.

Other than waiting so long, the actual process is pretty straight forward and i have applied for allot of other stuff aswell, have a few grant approved but haven't moved on them yet.

Does anyone know if you’re allowed put pre-cast wall panels on top of slats. In S101A it says that wall panels can be fixed to either side of the stanchion or placed between them, in S123 it says that walls shall not be built on slats. I know you’re not building a precast wall on slats, more placing it on the slats, but I’d like to hear if anybody has fixed a pre-cast wall panel to the inside face of a stanchion with the panel on top of the slats.

Hypothetically, what do they ask for when you do it? Is it videos or live? Do they verify that the person logging in is the name who signed up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 234 ✭✭queueeye

It’s live, I think it was an MS teams meeting.
They show some videos, and split the participants into groups to workshop a few topics. Nothing too complicated but they won’t tolerate anyone acting the maggot either.

    Hypothetically.

So hypothetically, if Johnny needed to do it but had an aversion to computers and he signed up and Jimmy logged in on the day, they don't ask for ID or dates of birth or anything like that?

Obviously not for the TAMS or anything official……just to find out the information and pass it on to Johnny. It would be good for Jimmy to do it too if Johnny did one before in the past. Hypothetically of course.

You might well think that, I couldn’t possibly comment.

Anyone get a wood chipper through tams? How is the reference cost worked out, it's in m3 per hour?

Thinking of getting one as handy for around house and farm. I've a load of bushes and trees down/to come down.

Got my solar installed under Tams 4 months ago. Also have solar on the house aswell and both are with energia smart plan and no differences in export payments.

    Hi All,

I was wondering if someone might give me a steer, we have an existing shed and we are looking to put in a proper calving gate and facilities. Our advisor reckons it won’t qualify under Tams as the shed needs to be built to Tams specs (I.e a new shed) so I am wondering has anyone any experience of getting a calving gate through Tams recently? Should I get onto the department myself directly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 434 ✭✭zetor 4911

It is eligible once there are no internal slurry agitation points in the same air space.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭mr.stonewall

Have a look at tams specifications s138 and s 147. The major things to watch out for is the pen size is min 3.5m x 4.8 and the max is 6m.

The other thing to watch is that the run off the shed is collected to a tank and the bedding can be stored in a dungstead with run off collected to a tank

if the only thing you are putting through tams is the gate and the shed is not amazing then I don’t think it’s worth the hassle of the tams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭mr.stonewall

If coupled with another item then it will get you over the 2k min reference

When you look at the 60%grant ( as its safety) and the vat back it's a no brainer. If you can do the application and the shed drawing it going into and the farmyard plan, then it's money for jam

If applying for replacement slats under safety grant , has anyone any idea how for approval

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,077 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

If you have not applied yet I say nearly 3 months. If you have applied ring and get them priotised it's possible to get this do e where you have a valid reason

Ready for HQ checking means they have not looked at it.
