    question about this

Can I apply for tickets for multiple days and then only buy the tickets for 1 day if offered?

it says on website must buy all tickets offered but is that just for a particular day?

You need to take whatever is offered, but there is an official resale platform that you can use to sell unwanted tickets.

Pretty sure that you basically have to commit to what's offered, based on what you apply for

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 430 ✭✭IAmTitleist

Yep if you apply for 10 tickets in the ballot and are successful you have to purchase all 10 tickets or none at all.

Would anyone have an idea what chances of getting lucky in ballott. Like is it a 1 in 2 chance or 1 in 20?

I know it's very hard judge and it's based how many apply but just wonder how tough it really is.

Include a practice day and you'll have a good chance of getting what you are looking for

Not yet, was coming here to check too. 🤞

I’d barely finished posting above when I got the email.

Applied for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but didn’t get the Friday, just the Tuesday and Thursday.

Still happy enough to get something given the demand.

Still hoping for an email myself, hopefully get 1 of the actual days.

Got the email saying I'm successful, but the page won't load when I try to access my account.

    Anyone else having difficulties?

Constant F5 on the website seems to have done the trick

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,485 ✭✭✭techdiver

    I can get in now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,800 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Are tickets showing up in accounts? Or where does one see if they've been successful by checking the account?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 782 ✭✭✭Pdoghue

I'm still getting that error… have tried refreshing and logging out and in again, all to no avail..

Hi All, I got tickets for Wednesday and Thursday. Thinking of staying in the onsite camp site. Has one ever done this at the open before and would they recommend it? This will be my first time at the open. Thanks

I didn't get any email at all, think there's an issue with my email coming through. When you go to the Open Site, is there somewhere on your profile you can see if you were successful or not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,614 ✭✭✭newport2

Same with me, received nothing. Perhaps there will be a second round for the tickets that are offered to people and are not bought

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,888 ✭✭✭Redo91

I think there’s 2 more ballots for tickets that aren’t purchased. I think it’s around the middle of September before all tickets will be allocated.

    Nothing here either which I guess means unsuccessful in first ballot. Details from their website on the dates of the subsequent ballots;

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,836 ✭✭✭coillcam

If you login, click the profile icon and then "my account" it will show if you have an offer available. Can only assume you won't have anything obvious on the page if unsuccessful or still pending...

Got email today and got mine. Just doing the Friday.

Did you just find out today?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,832 ✭✭✭✭PARlance

I applied for Tuesday and Wednesday on the assumption that I might be lucky to get one day rather than both. Got both. I must look into it further but I can't seem to deselect Tuesday. Is it a case that you just don't pay for a day you don't require?

I believe there is no way way of picking of choosing. You either take your full allocation of surrender them all. That was what I read on the original ballot when applying.

No, only accessed account today. Got a couple of days ago with everyone else.

I have 2 spare tickets for the Monday Practice day if anyone would like them. Going for Face Value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,790 ✭✭✭JVince

The idea was to encourage people to apply for the practice days and they got priority. Thus they get a strong turnout for the practice days.

I picked Wednesday + Thursday and got them. Plan to stay with friends in Moville and 3 of us camp in their garden and then take the Greencastle ferry to Magilligan. But now we're thinking it might be worth staying in the glamping village - old boys EP experience 😀

Regarding he camping/glamping, I see no way to book this and no information (apart from a downloadable pdf with prices), as to when they go on sale etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,790 ✭✭✭JVince

same here, I think it opens for booking next month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,160 ✭✭✭dam099

It's already open, you register at below link:

    https://www.stayattheopen.com/camping-register

They will then email you back if they still have spaces. Its a strange process compared to most online bookings I've done.

I filled in that form online, a while later (was about a day) they emailed back proposal form(s) (separately for the camping cost and £100 security deposit) which I needed to sign and return within 24 hours, then about a day later they emailed invoices and a link to pay them within a further 48 hours. Was the same when we did for St. Andrews in 2022.

What was it like at St Andrews.

Decent bit of craic ? Worth doing over a hotel or friends place an hour away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,363 ✭✭✭big_drive

I was at Troon this year on the Wednesday & Thursday. Actually ended up enjoying the practice day on the Wednesday better. The players are more relaxed, the crowds are still huge but more manageable to get up close to shots, you still see savage golf being played. And everything is open such as shops, entertainment, etc. So for anyone who got tickets for practice days don't worry one bit, in my opinion you still very much get the whole package. The only issue possibly could be if you have a favourite player who you'd like to see and they weren't doing a practice round that day for whatever reason. The range and putting green are great spots to hang out too, you get to watch a lot of players up close.

It was good, nothing too wild but a good buzz about the place.

Facilities were good, proper toilets in portacabins and decent shower area.

Given the mad prices for hotels definitely worth it over those.

The location at St. Andrews was also ideal, the campsite was literally right across from the main entrance and as the course is in the town everthing was a short walk away. For Portrush they mention a "short" shuttle ride from campsite to course so not sure how far they mean.

it was at Coleraine University last time I think, 3 miles or so away

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,557 ✭✭✭madalig12

I applied for Tue/Fri/Sat/Sun got offered Tue/Fri. I now dont know what to do, if I take that offer do they put me back in for Sat/Sun or not? If I turn it down thinking that i go into ballot for all 4 would I be incorrect. Im kinda siding on taking the tue/fri and hoping im in the draw for sat sun

where do you see the tickets? I logged into one club but don’t see any inbox or anything? Did people get an unsuccessful message? Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 246 ✭✭Sorbet

I assume once you say no you’re out altogether.
