If there is no tiara and no silverwear why don't they present a massive bouquet of ROSES! What could be more fitting? The organisers are missing a trick there!

My money would definitely have been on Tipp! She was class. NZ was lovely but Tipp had it all. Ah well, it was actually a good show this year. Lots of really lovely true Irish girls with lot of decency, culture, heritage, love of the language and traditions of Ireland. I loved the Kildare girl who worked in Supervalue and played cards every Monday night. She was a natural. Well done all!

Worked in the old tent Dome back in the Gaybo years. Everybody is watching their P&Q's whilst the competition is still there to be won... but after the winner is crowned... It seemed as though the Roses and their connections are subtly escorted away and its the great unwashed (track suits and can of cider crowd) that partied on in the Dome anyway.... presumably there is a more suitably upmarket soirée for the Roses and their connections in one of the local hotels.

Did the tiara go when Newbridge stopped being involved or was it earlier?

They gave the winner a bunch of roses but it was when she left the stage, just before she walked down the hall.

Katheryn Thomas needs to dial back the shouting and the clichés, she must have said 'you nailed it' to almost everyone. But she improved from last year I thought. They could look at replacing Daithi- he's been there since 2010. At times, it seemed like he was just passing the time.

I thought the earlier Roses, say on in 8-9pm part didn't get that much time but later ones did, as if they knew they could give them more time and still not run overtime.

It'll be interesting to see what the outcome of the legal case has on the Festival long term.

did the winner get anything on stage? How long had this rubbish been going? You’d think they’d have had their own tiara/accoutemrnts for the winner already rather than relying on a sponsor to provide these. It sounds like a real Mickey Mouse setup. How much are RTE paying to screen this rubbish? Could they not use some of that money for something tangible for the Winner? Feck the bunch of roses. I’m sure all the lovely girls get those already from boyfriends etc. shouldn’t they get something that will last more than a few days?

I read a few years ago the idiots who sign up to be escorts have to pony up their own expenses including the ladies. What a deal!!

So I was talking to my make up artist and friend of mine this morning who was doing my nails for me. She done the make up for the Rose of Tralee a few years ago and said the judges already know who the winner of it is before the two shows even start. So unless you know the judges or someone you know does you are wasting your time betting on them.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
