Any updates or news regarding the position of Senior ICT Specialist HEO for December 2023, subsequent to the interviews.

Following the interview process, I was informed that I have been placed on the order of merit. However, since then, I have not received any further communication regarding the status of the position or the next steps in the process.

Hi, same for myself. Placed in top 10 OOM but have not heard a word since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 Ray666

I contacted the public office, but they haven't initiated the recruitment process. Are you aware of the available job openings for this position, and are there any positions located outside of Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 Ray666

Do you have information on the number of available positions, or was this question addressed during the interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 JTra2024

I got no further information, they are awaiting requests from all depts for placements. Last note I received said they place the first 5 OOM

    Hi All,

Just got results for Batch 2 of the Digital Business Engagement stream. Placed in top 10. Just wondering if anyone knows how many were placed in Batch 1 to get an idea of my actual place in the OOM.

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any movement on this for the second round?

I'm trying to get an idea of timeframe.

    Thanks in advance :)

Presently undergoing pre-employment screenings. How about you? Have you received any confirmation regarding the location and department?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 liamolowend

    Thanks for that.

Heard nothing since getting my place on the panel. But I was in the second bunch to be interviewed so it hasn't been that long in fairness.

I'm unsure whether you've applied for the HEO or EO role in Digital Business Engagement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 liamolowend

    Applied for the HEO panel.

In February 2024, some individuals have already been assigned to their respective departments, while others are currently undergoing pre-clearance checks. Have you received your Order of Merit placement, and is your preferred location outside of Dublin?

I received my place on the panel alright, and I put Dublin and Kildare down when I applied.

Was just curiosity in relation to how quick it is all moving. Happy to wait until I'm called.

It typically takes 5 to 10 business days for vetting, followed by employment checks. Afterwards, the employment contract will be issued, and the entire process is expected to take between 1 to 2 months.

    Thanks for that :)

I'm interested in knowing at what point you selected your locations—was it during the application stage or after the order of merit? I never had the opportunity to specify a location, and I noticed Dublin seems to be the default. Will you be able to provide the information booklet?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,068 ✭✭✭pauliebdub

I didn't select a location either when I applied. The booklet made it clear that most if not all of the positions would be in Dublin.

Once the Garda vetting process completes (which is where I am at the moment) does the process move quicker? Do they contact my employer at that stage?

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if they've made it past the first 10 OOM? Looking to get an idea of how long the wait might be. Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 Ray666

Once the vetting process is completed, both my current and former employers are contacted on the same day. Before reaching out to my current employer, permission is requested. could you provide insight into your order of merit and whether a department and location have been assigned?

The vetting has been completed and they have contacted my employer for a reference earlier this week. Presumably this concludes the process and I should be offered something? I've heard nothing all week since my employer (HR) was contacted - should I be expecting an immenent offer??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25 Ray666

Once the current and previous employers are contacted, you'll receive an email from PAS. HR will then reach out regarding your start date and department assignment. Could you please share your order of merit and the department you were assigned?"

    Hi,

Has anyone got any tips for the HEO ICT interview?

    Thanks.

As with most civil services roles, have examples for the competencies and use the START method.

Does anyone know if turning down an offer would exclude an applicant from future competitions?

I reluctantly turned down an offer as the salary wasn't worth the commute, and I was expecting to start a few points up from the minimum which was offered. That wasn't an option nor was negotiation.

I had read somewhere that a candidate had turned down a particular offer, remained on a panel, and then went on to take up a second offer in another dept. I wasn't offered anything. I just got a "no longer interested" message on my profile.

There does seem to be some great opportunities at HEO and AP level when the pay and location is right. It's a shame it didn't work out for me this time. When it came to leaving my current job it meant being out of pocket for a number of years, with an increased workload to go with it.

Though, after such a long process I'm thinking I should've just accepted the offer and gotten in the door at this stage.

You should be fine to apply again. There's normally something on the application to ask if you applied before, but I think it's understandable if the position didn't suit at the time.

Starting at minimum on the scale is always a pain when you get paid more than that currently.

    Everyone starts at the lowest scale, unless you're transferring from another government job;

Entry will be at the minimum of the scale and the rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.
Different terms and conditions may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is a serving civil or public servant”.

I'm going to guess if you were going from HEO to ICT HEO, you'd keep the same increment. They won't negotiate, as they don't need to.

The wording below is vague as hell, but I'm guessing the "at its discretion" means the below person probably asked them to be put at the end of the panel.

Should the person recommended for appointment decline, or having accepted it, relinquish it or if an additional vacancy arises the Board may, at its discretion, select and recommend another person for appointment on the results of this selection process.

    =-=

I got 40 in the I&O ICT HEO. No idea if the Infrastructure and Operations has it's own panel, or if I'm on the same panel as all of the ICT HEO's. Would anyone here know?

Anybody who applied for the recent June 2024 HEO ICT software dev and completed their interview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 dmaher99

Yeah I did interview and got on on OOM in 20s, just informed today.

Do you know how many vacancies/positions are available for this panel

Anyone been offered a role in Infrastructure & Ops recently?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

Sadly no. What number did you get in I&O? I got 40 in the I&O ICT HEO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 AnonEcho

No word here yet, I'm in the 20s OOM for the I&O ICT HEO. Has anyone heard where PAS are on the OOM with placements?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

I've asked PAS where they are with placements a month ago, and they've said

We are currently allocating requests from all departments for this panel, when we have completed then then we will be contacting candidates in the order of merit regarding the clearance process.

Looking at the "Expression of Interest" Email about the job in Shannon, and it states this panel is due to expire 22 November 2025.

Has anyone applied for the Networks and Cyber Security Senior ICT Specialist in the Civil Service competition advertised earlier this year?

I did and months later I've not heard anything. I applied for this competition before and after a year I got a take it or leave it offer, which didn't suit location wise. It was a new HEO position that seemed interesting enough but on weighing up the salary and commute it wasn't worth it.

Thought I'd go again as I've read that some user's had received secondary offers. I wonder if I'm blacklisted for not taking the offer!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,316 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

As far as I can tell from the info in the Booklet, saying no to the offer gets you taken off that Panel. Can't see it affecting other Panels after that, though. Starting grade will still be the same, though, although the money may be slightly better than last time due to the pay being increased across the board due to the pay agreement negations.

As for the Secondary offer, the only way I could see this happening is if after they've placed everyone on the Panel, there was still spots left that needed filling ASAP. For example, I got an "expression of interest" for a spot in Shannon that needed filling ASAP (which I ignored, as I'm in the "Dublin only" panel because I want a job in Dublin); I'd assume such spots would get offered to people who initially said "no" to the position offered, but that's just a guess on my part.

Nope. I don't imagine hearing anything until 2025.
I know of someone who did the Dec 2023 comp, OOM under 10, was placed in June.
So my number being higher makes me assume, there are others from Dec 2023 still being placed, and when they begin placing people from the June 2024 comp, I will have a longer wait than that person.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 dmaher99

FYI they have began placing people off 2024 panel, as I'm on that OOM. It's at 15 as of today. I'm in the mid 20's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 AnonEcho

Good to know. Which ICT stream is this in relation to? Did you reach out to PAS directly to find this out? Cheers

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 dmaher99

Yeah I emailed them. You can email them here to find out: AssignmentsP&T@publicjobs.ie

I'm on the Senior ICT Specialist (HEO) panel . I'm a developer so not that Infrastructure panel, as far as I know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 AnonEcho

Cheers. I gave them an email as well. Seems to be positive news so that they're moving fast enough through the OOM. Have you a competition ID? Will be able to tell if they're being treated as separate panels from that. (I presume they are)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 dmaher99

Competition id is in email you got from them.

Cryptic email today said my OOM is now 12. Was 40. Could mean that 28 have been placed?

On the I&O ICT HEO 2024 stream.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 dmaher99

No. Same day, though somebody else said it took them a week to hear back.
