Politico getting absolutely lambasted online for this, and rightly so...

I've used the phrase "journalistic malpractice" a number of times, and I see this kind of nonsense more and more recently. My thoughts back then were that the press were trying to make it a tighter race, which means more clicks and revenue and that can only be the reason for this utter f**kery from Politico and others.

Edit - here's the now deleted headline

the Arlington scandal is so bad that Trump has attempted to shift the blame to the gold star family that was present and suggested that they made and distributed the images and made the campaign commercial etc

Trumps speeches lately are completely off the wall…I mean really off the bloody wall.

How on earth can anyone actually support this cabbage?

    How much time you got?

The short version is it’s a cult the product of decades of right wing media manipulations, and Trump in particular tells these people everything they wanna hear, and he says it with the confidence of a confidence man - commonly known as a Con Man, he’ll take a dozen different positions on the same topic and any given follower will latch on to one of them and ignore the rest thinking “he’s just saying that because he needs to” without thinking, or hoping that he’s not just “saying that” to them, about the position they want him to actually be true on. Right wing media has told them for decades: the left is bad, the left does all this, the left lies and cheats, they flip flop, etc. and mould them into thinking it’s okay for “us” to lie cheat and steal and flip flop to get an edge over those bastard andrenochrome chugging socialist leftists, etc. so when you see your President lying, cheating, stealing talking out of 12 sides of his mouth: no you didnt. that’s how we own the libs

Same reason that they always have, they see that they have one or more things in common with him or at least in their minds that is the case.

Some however will just hold their nose and vote for him because their is an R beside his name on the ballot paper.

I do not understand how statements like these, and there have been many, are not utterly disqualifying.

People can equivocate on policy, or interpretations of what he said and later contradicted, defamation charges, he'll - even the felonies in NYC, but this... This should be unifying for all bar those who are utter racists.

And I refuse to be believe ALL trump supporters are racist, probably safe to say the majority are, but how can the rest who aren't stomach someone like this anywhere near the WH.

Any issue of policy is irrelevant. This should be an absolute no brainier. A visceral reaction. -

Step 1) hear **** like this

    Step 2) that's it - no f**king way he's getting my vote!

I see Trump had a totally normal one last night...

“But the transgender thing is incredible. Think of it. You kid goes to school and comes home a few days later with an operation. The school decides what’s going to happen with your child and you know many of these childs [sic] 15 years later say, what the hell happened? Who did this to me? They say, who did this to me? It’s incredible.”

Sure is incredible, Don. In fact, it's incredibly not credible. In any way.

    Musk:

    “a super genius guy”

Apart from 9 year old boys explaining who the hero of the comic they just wrote is, who would describe someone as "a super genius guy"? It's so weird.

“It’s crazy. Our country is being poisoned. And your schools and your children are suffering greatly because they’re going into the classrooms and taking disease, and they don’t even speak English.”

    That's just naked racism.

(Mom's for Liberty) also has voiced support for Project 2025, a radical blueprint for a Republican presidency from which Trump has repeatedly tried to distance himself. Moms for Liberty serves on the advisory board for Project 2025, and the author of the document’s education chapter taught a “strategy session” at the group’s gathering.

But Project 2025 has nothing to do with Trump. I wonder if he's even read it yet?

Didn't realise they took this down.

And this is their attempt at a "better" version

    Equally as bad. Awful.

I've no journalistic training, but here's my attempt...

"Harris dismisses Trump's racist lie as being part of a tired and old playbook"

    FFS “Moms for Liberty”

Ever since I heard of them I was getting serious Stepford Wives vibes from them, and apparently they exhibit all of the worst excesses of Q-Anon MAGAism, from hating anything LGBT to actually quoting Hitler on a newsletter.

It’s insidious how the far right in the US have appropriated the world “Liberty”, a synonym for Freedom, to be their banner-word for facism and hatred.

    Jesus Christ; Politico

I guess they have a bias in this race and need to be regarded with the bias in mind.
Harris’ response to the race question was very clever. She dismissed it as tired stupid Trump race-baiting, and essentially asked to move onto an actual important question about the country.

That creates a good image. She was presenting herself as a Statesperson who isn’t going to waste time on Donnie’s childish slurs of her ethnicity. That’s exactly what you want from a President, not the childish mud slinging from a man who wanted to bake large chunks of time into his White House timetable to sit around watching Fox News.

A media outlet making news with a tweet, then deleting its tweet. Who'll they send to cover the next Harris news event after screwing this up, when others were accusing her of not holding press conferences?

And every single time she has stopped to talk to journalists so far the ONLY questions they ask are "Trump said this thing, what do you think?".

And then they have the gall to say "She won't take questions from us"

    Try asking real questions, ffs

I'm only seeing the politico tweet now. I would've seen politico as good to get a fairly balanced view of US politics, but jesus h christ is that bad. The clean up tweet is better but it's a low bar. I'd say the New York Times are happy because before the politico tweet, their "trump can win the election on character" article was the club house leader on stupid stuff said this week.

    You didn't say it.

That's why I used the phrase "lemme guess".

If you had said it, I would have quoted you.

    See?

Yeah, so you are wrong then, you gonna apologise?

It appears you may have trouble comprehending English.

    I'll leave things there.
