Why are they wearing hardhats behind him? Who's working overhead in the middle of a presidential candidate speech?

If Biden phoned into CNN and rambled on aimlessly for 45 minutes until the hosts cut him off, like Trump does regularly on Fox and other right wing news channels, then he'd be crucified for it in the right wing press.

Of course, the hypocrisy isn't a bug, its a feature.

The MAGA types are indoctrinated into a cult. In a cult, you are expected to be able to demonstrate extreme cognitive dissonance. Everything your leader does is good, everything they say is true, even all the things that contradict all the other things, and everything people outside the cult say about you is a vindictive lie because they are trying to prevent you from performing your mission.

The Democrats allow the conditions that caused this to happen because they have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo in a 2 party system. They tolerate and enable the trumps and tea parties because to break up the duopoly would be their own demise in the medium term

It is what it is, a very slow motion car crash . It only takes one more slip by the DNC and actual fascists can overthrow democracy in the USA (and if Biden was still running, that would be much more likely this November, thats how close we are)

Given what happened at Arlington and how many of Trump's team were likely there at the rally, I'd be inclined to wear safety gear too.

    Can't you tell he's being sarcastic/telling a joke??

100%, Adam Kinkzinger said as much on the Daily Show, how Democrats were throwing money behind unelectable MAGA heads in primaries so the Democrats would win the races that matter. Unfortunately, some got through. Democrats absolutely have some of the blame to take.

The vast majority of the blame lies with the elected Republicans that didn't impeach Trump back in 2020. They would be in the wilderness for a few years, but in the main, it would have been a reset on the weirdness that is the Republicans at the moment

I have a video on my phone of when my son was 3 and he tried to tell me a joke that he made up himself, but didn't understand how jokes work, their structure, or context, or the concept of a punchline.. It was hilarious but not for any of the reasons he thought it was funny

"The weave.." Interesting. A comedic play made famous by the Harlem Globetrotters. Why would CFTrump reference it?

It seems the MAGA bots are regrouping. The had their nice, convenient spreadsheets of different garbage points that they could just copy and paste from, but after Biden was out, you could tell by the temporary silence that they had to rewrite a lot of it.

So we got a lot of racist and sexist blather, but as you can tell they are regrouping. It took a while, because they couldn't just do a search for "Biden" with a substitution of "Harris", they had to modify some of their points.

I notice a lot of similarities in the stock responses here and on other platforms. There's "DEI hire", "worst VP ever", "sky high inflation", "hoardes of illegals storming across the border", "something something socialism and communism" and I'm sure their responses to her TV interview were written well in advance. I also noticed the Arlington incident being played down, because of course they would.

As Harris says, it's just the same old babble from the same playbook. It's tiring and predictable.

A lot of it came down to delivery I think.

Biden would stumble a bit over words and have pauses/verbal glitches etc.

Trump on the other hand spouted his incomprehensible bollocks with such vigour and confidence.

Or at least he did and that's a key difference lately, he now has the pauses and the "glitches" and people are definitely noticing.

Not excusing the media for a second, but I think that's the basis for a lot of the difference in reporting in recent years.

I've become quite cynical with respect to the media 'mindset' which influences the journalists and presenters who work for particular organisations.

In the last 12 months we've seen a massive amount of evidence that a structured narrative is provided from organisation leadership with how the conflict in Gaza has been reported. Even the BBC has been significantly influenced by this I feel.

In the US, I think they've long fallen guilty to the mindset of 'What plays well for us' in terms of narratives that drive engagement. Maybe that's an easy accusation from someone completely on the outside.

There is absolutely no doubt that the primary influence on deciding what stories to publish and promote is "Which one will generate the most revenue".

Accuracy, consistency and balance come a very distant second now sadly.

At least once a week we discuss polling numbers and what they might mean. But then what happens is a “brand new” poster who supports Trump wanders in and attempts to owns the libs.

Its an incoherent rants against the Green agenda. The wind is wind power and it's percievd shortcomings, and the lack of bacon is veganism for the environment.

I can read the logic of what he is saying - but the fact that he cannot string a coherent sentence together to convey his meaning is a sure sign of his senility.

There have been Nazi elements within the American government right back to operation paperclip. The bit that most people know about is the NASA stuff, but they imported SS types into the CIA on mass due to their perceived expertise on Russia. They never stopped been Nazis and it's not hard to find the long standing sympathies to Nazi ideology within high up elements of the Republican party.

Yep, at the end of WW2 the Americans took all the German rocket scientists, the Brazilians and the Argentinians took the rest

they imported SS types into the CIA on mass due to their perceived expertise on Russia.

I think that's fairly widely known thanks to this unimpeachable historical source

I mean, unfortunately, it is the population at large that steer them in this direction. It's all well and good to blame them (and they certainly deserve much of it) but it is very much "our" fault as well. The sheer revulsion people react to a paywall…

Agreed, there is a degree of group planning in MAGA talking points, which was alot easier for them when they could successfully chip away at the perceived slowdown and decline of Biden. That was the entire plan, and then Joe ends up ruining all of that by dropping out for a younger candidate.

MAGAworld clearly didn’t have a Plan B for this, and don’t seem that good at forming an attack with the same universal reach as calling out Biden’s age. Instead they go in on her ethnicity, and in some cases her gender. There was a lot of referring to her as “Communist” or “Comrade”, and the problem with all of that is that it only plays well with people who were going to vote Trump anyway. They have no convincing argument for the middle ground voters, beyond leaning into another old chestnut; immigration.

This is despite immigration being easily thrown back at the MAGA crowd due to Donnie pressuring the GOP to block a bi-partisan bill to sort out the border. It is made known, that Donnie selfishly nerfed a measure to secure the nation, for his own selfish ends, meaning that the only attack they think they can use against her simply highlights how unsuitable Trump himself is for the role.

So we go through the daily Magic Roundabout of having to endure MAGAbots and re-regs scrambling to find some credible issue to target Harris on, and usually just end up highlighting their own blatant hypocrisy.

I’m curious how they will adapt after the debate. If Harris does at least an OK job against Trump, we may find them double-ing down on something else, or like with the “ear-piece” bombshell in the interview, they’ll invent total fiction and just run with that.

Well, no. The state of the economy is an attack strategy as well, but as this rebuttal wasn't answered, that tells you all you need to know about the strength of that argument when parried with data and facts.

Biden gets a word or two mixed up and he’s losing his mind. Trump talks absolute incoherent nonsense and he’s joking.

    Laughably transparent.

I’m sure someone will be along soon to tell me Biden isn’t running anymore. Someone should tell Trump.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 84,174 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

i think there might be some logic to it. Because trumps strategy is to say the most batshit things just to capture media attention. Oddly, they still give him the attention often, but usually less so without feeding into his “fake news” hard on. Either way Trump makes himself purposefully challenging to manage as a topic because he literally is a troll just out there looking for attention and to distract from serious issues. At the same time it’s hard not to notice how insane he is. A real catch 22.

Just yesterday Senator Craughwell posted a tweet in support,of Kamala Harris and congratulated her on the interview and I am not exaggerating, there were 300+ replies all pro-MAGA and pro-Trump.

I find it curious that Senator Craughwell would even be on MAGA's radar. With Musk at the helm of Twitter, it gives me a suspicion, that he has engineered it so that any pro Harris tweet appears in the feed of MAGA supporters. Before someone says he doesn't have the power to do that, in recent weeks I get a notification on my phone every time Elon Musk sends a tweet - despite the fact I do not follow him or have ever liked one of his tweets. Its clear he's been messing with the algorithms for some time now.

I watched him for 5 minutes last night.

He said that nobody knows what Kamala Harris's last name is.

    It's beyond weird.

Not true, the Americans took a significant number of SS officers and wiped their history clean.
