Atmosphere is very good. Hope it stays good throughout.

Pickford always looks like he is about to make a mistake when he is on the ball.

Molumby making it immediately clear he's here to get stuck in.

Unmarked at the back post, keep the pressure on.

The booing is ridiculous, very childish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,521 ✭✭✭✭briany

We've seen energetic starts from Ireland before. It's nice to see, don't get me wrong, but how they're playing after 25 minutes will be more indicative of their overall ability.

Kane with a fine chance, should have scored.

Royal Mail advertising threw me off there!

Meh, ordinarily I'd agree but Grealish and Rice have it coming.

He had to score didn't he.

Might as well keep booing him now

Top pass from Trent kicked it off

  • Administrators Posts: 54,474 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    that is embarrassingly bad defending.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,676 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Was nailed on to happen sooner or later. And came with the irritating non-celebration-celebration too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,235 ✭✭✭SaoPaulo41

    Noway anyone but Rice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭crushproof

    Lol it had to be

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,672 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    That was far too easy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,349 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

Gotta defend better than that, lads.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,039 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Mainoo is a player who simply Loves giving the ball away, poor enough player.

Jesus we've been taking horrible touches in great positions. Ogbene after the Szmodics shot took about 3 touches to get it under control earlier, and there the same thing happened again just now - one decent touch and we'd have been in.

Coleman been a great player but going to get destroyed for pace out here

    Embarrassing FK

    Kelleher saves us

    Savage save again by Kelleher,.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,672 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Jesus, from our free kick to Kelleher keeping it 1-0 in seconds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,676 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Lads getting in each others way then from the free-kick follow up. We look spirited but very messy.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,474 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

Thought the same, very poor ball control, like they’re really nervous or something.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,937 ✭✭✭crushproof

JFC this could be a drubbing if it continues like this.

England are improving under Carsley anyway

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,180 ✭✭✭10000maniacs

    Ireland should bring on Carlsley.

The muted celebration makes no sense. It's like he's scored against his old club, he should have just celebrated it, not like he's got any credit with the Irish people to begin with.

    Glazers Out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,700 ✭✭✭ForestFire

Kind of agree but at least it shows he is aware of the situation and decided not to try a flame it further

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,982 ✭✭✭Ottoman_1000

Kelleher almost Allison esk the way he spread himself for that one.

It's just the gulf in class between the sides.

England's last game was the final of the European championships. Ireland can just about beat sides like Gibraltar and Latvia etc, no surprises we're taking poor touches in the opposition half and leaving huge gaps at the back.

The only surprising thing here is that England aren't 3 or 4 up by now.

    Glazers Out!

    Ogbene needs to sharpen up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,839 ✭✭✭Ken Tucky

Ah let him off, he has been in major international finals with his country.

He made his choice and if it was me I would have done the same.

Not his fault we struggle at this level

    Anyhow that's just my opinion

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 188 ✭✭Seneca the Stoic

Men against boys so far unfortunately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,676 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

There's obviously the gulf in class, but beyond that it's been a very nervy looking first 20 minutes. On our rare breaks, lads are taking poorer touches than they do week in week out, even when under no pressure. They just look maybe a bit too emotionally pumped up. Will hopefully settle down a bit as it goes on.

Idiots booing Rice because he played underage for Ireland. Do they not realise he's English?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,463 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

We are better set up defensively which is a positive but England just have too much quality.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 352 ✭✭Scrabbel

Exactly. What the hell were the defenders doing having a debate after Kelleher's initial save? No pressure on Gordon getting the ball back into the box. Ridiculous

  • Administrators Posts: 54,474 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    This is men against boys.

Celebrating scoring isn't offensive, unless he's goading the Irish fans.

He's acknowledging the situation, big deal, he shouldn't have ever put a green shirt on to begin with, then there'd be no situation, Harry Kane could have played for Ireland, he's not getting booed today because he didn't treat Ireland as a stepping stone.

Ireland aren't struggling because Rice or Grealish aren't playing for us, the problems we have are much deeper than that but people have a right to call them out.

Both of them now. Dreadful stuff.

    Glazers Out!

    Bring back Kenny!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,586 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Might as well bang in an OG now to join the two lads

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,676 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

I think that applies to Graelish. Not so much Rice though - he played senior ball for us, and kissed the badge when doing so, before switching.
