Peculiar that they refer to their plans as "5G ready" rather than "5G". The small print in the T&Cs says 5G devices will work as 4G until a "software upgrade". This suggests that Sky don't have 5G working?

While I am not an Apple iPhone fan, it is strange that Sky don't have any Apple devices. Apple have very strict compliance requirements before they allow anyone use their brand. Perhaps Sky haven't got everything working to Apple's satisfaction yet?

12 months minimum contract is taking a risk for an unproven provider. Services like GoMo or PAYG SIMs allow users to try out a service for a month before committing.

I wonder if Sky mobile customers will suffer from the same IP zone blocking that is currently impacting Sky's broadband customers in Ireland, which is preventing them receiving RTE, Virgin, and smart-speaker streaming services that are geo-blocked from outside Ireland? (Sky customers are being treated as if they are in UK, and can currently receive some UK services that are normally geo-blocked from Ireland - but this probably won't last)

They don't appear to be offering Sky Tv or broadband customers any option to bundle or discounts , seems a logical step like Virgin do!

Unlimited at home calls texts AND DATA in UK and Europe. That's a fantastic deal imho for anyone who travels across Europe. Yes we have data roaming with others, but that's limited. This is a huge pro if you're a data hungry user.

Apparently this is a limited introductory offer.

    I'm ordering!

Anyone else getting this message when ordering the SIM?

We can't process your request online right now

    Please call us on 0818 719 819

It looks promising, even supporting VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling from the start. But I'll hold off for now. Like @babelfish1990 said, it's a risk opting into a 12 month contract with such a new provider.

I don't get any IP blocking on my sky bb?

So it's a price for life but you need to constantly renew the contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

I cannot find this info. Why they say €15 a month, what's a month? Is it like billed day on the 1st of each month? Every 28 days? No info here, but I'm guessing it's the former. There is a tariff link, but that just results in an error.

Some people above complaining about 36 month contract but there is an option to change it to 24. Higher payments as a result but it's there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,250 ✭✭✭✭zell12

€15pm “for life” for unlimited calls, texts and data

€10pm for unlimited calls, texts, 10GB of data

Both services are bill-pay options using a credit or debit card, with no pay-as-you-go top-up option available. The €15 service requires a 12-month contract.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Yes it's similar to Gomo, whereby payments are automatically deducted monthly. Doesn't bother me either way.

Still can't sign-up though. You'd have thought Sky would have had this well tested and actually working!!

Anyone know is tethering included, can't see it mentioned in the T&C's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,298 ✭✭✭laoisfan

What mobile prefix will Sky Mobile be using here in Ireland? Or will they just use 087 as they are on the Vodafone network?

I wonder if their phone plans will be subject to that sneaky price hike that other telcos are doing now, usually 3% plus the rate of inflation yearly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

they have eSIM too it looks like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Dont think that will happen on the €15 for life plan.

Not sure about the other plan(s) (which is only one other €10 plan that I can see)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

I've given up for now, too frustrating. Will try later in the day.

If anyone successfully orders, then please post your success!!

Also their swappie phone thing - same as a 24 month contract really.

Buy the phone and plan for 36 months and get a new phone after 24.

Also S24 regular is out of stock already. Wonder can you claim the free chrome book with the sky offer?

    What is Swap24
With Swap24, you can exchange your phone for a new one after 24 months, at no extra cost.
    How does Swap work?
You send us your phone back and select your new phone. You won’t pay us anything to end your existing contract early. You’ll start a new contract with your new phone.

Good question on the tethering aspect. Can't find the answer either. It's an important point for many. Would hate to have unlimited data and not being able to tether. Even 48.ie allow tethering!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

If your having issues signing up online you can sign up over the phone too, or in a sky retail store if that helps anyone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

    iphones coming in December

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭baz9375

Just signed up over the phone and asked about tethering - they say it's allowed on the unlimited plan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,244 ✭✭✭Pauliedragon

Must be a load trying to sign up. Dynamic pricing on the way. It'll €100pm in about 2 hours.😉

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

Did they give an option for esim? It says its available but haven't got to that part of the checkout yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭baz9375

Yes. they offered eSim and said the link/email would be sent straight away. I opted for physical SIM as prefer to keep eSim option free on my phone for travel sims

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Cheers! Was there a long wait on the phone before making contact? Also about how long was the signup then after being answered?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭PH0NER

Placed an order over the phone and opted-in to eSIM. The agent said he didn't know they were doing eSIM on day one.

There was no wait to speak to an agent. The total call took 20 minutes.

Ordered physical SIM over the phone. Took just over 18 minutes in total including the initial wait. Should have SIM within 2 business days.

    Oh and prefix is 089

Some more info which might be useful. You can set up direct debit via IBAN, I was initially asked for this. I asked about credit card and that was fine also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,035 ✭✭✭biebiebie

Was told that the contract starts as soon as the SIM is activated. And have 30(or was it 31) days to activate it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,352 ✭✭✭bennyx_o

Can it be added to existing Sky TV DD?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 64 ✭✭PH0NER

Was able to get the Sky eSIM installed on my Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold. It activated with a temporary 089 number while my actual number is being ported.

Strangely, calls work but data has not activated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

let us know when your number ports and how sky preforms. :)

Your username makes you a perfect guinea pig. Make sure you run plenty of data tests. What network are you moving from?

The CPL increase is concerning me.

Price for life doesn't change it is 15euro no annual price increase.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭beachhead

No international minutes like Eur or Vodafone. That is no minutes to the likes of the US,Oz,India,Brazil, anywhere when calling from Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

It's a fixed 15euro price promised for life if you sign up now for a limited time. No nasty price hikes every year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 666 ✭✭✭babelfish1990

Check if you can access all content on RTE Player & Virgin Media Player? Sky broadband customers are currently being geo-blocked from these services, because Sky treats them as being in UK! Also curious to know if WiFi Calling works when roaming? (Currently Eir & GoMo are the only providers that allow WiFi calling when roaming - saves a fortune outside of EU)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭beachhead

Reminds me of 48 who tried to reduce "their month"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,146 ✭✭✭GIMP

I was thinking more the handset olans being open to the yearly in contact increases , after all Sky like to increase their tv plans yearly! And as others have said the 15e off is only a introductory offer! If they offered a discount to existing Sky customers I would seriously consider them as an option, one bill for tv and mobile would be appealing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rhinosaurious

If that was to happen with the handset plans they have to let you go without penalty because it's not mentioned in the contract.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭Davexirl

Download and upload speeds from T&C's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,019 ✭✭✭beachhead

    Holy s...e

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,692 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

That's standard across all networks, it looks bad when you read it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,551 ✭✭✭KildareP

They all quote relatively low download speeds so that you have a very difficult case in trying to get out of contract for non-performance. The figures Sky quote are exactly the same as Vodafone while

    Eir… 5G = 50Mb/5Mb, 4G = 10Mb/1Mb, 3G = 1Mb/0.1Mb

    Three… 5G = 25Mb/5Mb, 4G = 10Mb/2.8Mb, 3G = 2.5Mb/0.49Mb
