That flop shot off a tight lie by Brown was unreal. Commentators didn't even acknowledge it! Holed the putt aswell, some up and down

That's some birdie by Rory on 13, when he looked like he would be lucky to make bogey after his tee shot. Sank a putt from around 35 feet.

Makes up a little for only making par on the par 5 12th.

Rory hacking his way around the 18th par 5. His 4th shot was very good though and should rescue his par.

Ah #### sake, he missed the putt from around 4 feet. Very poor effort, but he should still be in a share of the lead, and will definitely be in the final group. Only Manassero can potentially regain the lead, he's 1 behind walking up the 18th.

Only 8 of 68 under par for today. Poor old Clements, 14 under. From 1st to 4th last.

Looking at the leaderboard this morning, I see Clements right near the bottom. That's some turnaround, from leading after the first round, to just 1 behind in joint 2nd after the 2nd round, then disaster.

I didn't realize yesterday was so bad. Yikes!

It's been said a million times but this place looks unreal on TV. Cinematic. What's the main reason for no Open Championship.,difficulties with grandstand placement and getting enough spectators onto the course? The spectators seem very close to the fairway in places this week. Or is it the external infrastructure, no railway etc.

If Rory wins today, expect a lot of discussion on this.

Birdie for Rory on the par 5 1st, moves him to -7. Manassero makes his birdie as well, to remain 1 behind.

Savage 2nd shot approach from Rory on the 2nd hole. Spins it back to within around a foot, leaving him with a tap in birdie.

Manassero is not the type to just disappear. Rory will seriously have to fight for this.

Commentator: "Let's catch up with Erik van Rooyen."

Immediately cuts to an ad break. There was 6 and a minutes since the last break. 😠

It comes back and it has to play catch-up on Rory's next tee shot. It was the same for Rory's previous tee shot as well.

We didn't get to see it but Manassero made bogey on 4, so he's now 4(-4) behind Rory(-8). Smith has moved into outright second on -5.

The ads have been brutal all weekend. RTE are awful at live golf

Tell me about it. 7 and a half minutes this time between breaks.

Rory drops his first shot of the day on 7. I don't know if you can fault him. He got a horrendous kick on his tee shot, landed to the right of the green, but ended up off the green on the left.

Rory's missed a relatively easy birdie putt on 8. That's 2 shots needlessly coughed up on the last 2 holes.

Not an easy watch, Rory, these days.

Basically , apart from Brown and ,at a stretch Hojgaard, the others are throwing this at him.

Excellent approach from Rory on the 9th sets up another birdie opportunity. He should get it, but you never know with him. Putting has always been the weakest part of his game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Ah, you can guess. He missed it. Shocking. It was a straight putt from around 5 or 6 feet and he catches the right edge of the cup.

Rory makes birdie on 11, his first birdie since the 2nd hole. He got a good read from Manassero's birdie from 40 foot.

Fair play -did well to follow Manassero in for birdie. If birdie at 12 -it's set up for him again…for a victory cruise to the finish .😁

Heard on radio that 15000 there today. If true there is one reason it wouldn’t be held there I guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,535 ✭✭✭techdiver

I was there yesterday. Once in the course it's a great place for watching golf but the issue is access. We were queueing for 40 minutes to get into the course. It just wouldn't be able to handle the crowds for an Open Championship.

Numbers for this year were 16,000 per day (reduced from the last time due to congestion). Compare that to 40,000+ for Portrush each day at The Open in 2019.

Been a great event - would have been nervous for weather this time of the year up there. But they got a great week.

Have been lucky enough to play the course about 5 times. Love the place - real unusual look and feel to the place.

Portrush has stolen the show up there for a few years. But this was a reminder that RCD is equally revered .

Hopefully Rory pulls this off - would be nice icing on the cake.

Rory has bogeyed the 15th. He's now on -7, tied for the lead with Hojgaard. He hasn't done anything spectacular today, and missed several relatively easy putts. It's still in his hands to win, but it's not been very impressive, especially on a course he loves and knows so well.

What a bunker shot by Hojgaard. Going to be hard for McIlroy now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,759 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

And now Hojgaard has the outright lead at -8, after chipping in from the bunker on 17.

Rory should make birdie on 16, to rejoin him at the top. He has a gimme birdie putt.

Rory should get the birdie on 16 at least
