Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So Harris, the Democratic Vice President and now Presidential nominee, is "not quite" enough of an arch Democrat to unite his base against, but Taylor Swift, who only very recently announced her support for Harris (again, someone who is not quite Democrat enough apparently) is the real arch Democrat that Trump saying he hates will unite his base?

People think he's being dumb here. People are right.

Just had the briefest look at the polls, and briefly, no bueno for Harris.

Trump is now in the lead in 3 of the swing states, Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina, all by 0.5%

Harris leads the other 4, 0.1% (Nevada) to 2.7% (Wisconsin)

I'll do a post on the main politics forum tomorrow with the polls.

To Republicans, like I said, Swift represents everything they see is wrong with America. Her lifestyle, views on LGBTQ rights and abortion..etc

What's worse for Swift is she is the one who has been manipulated. It was the Trump campaign that roped her in with the fake AI endorsement. She's taken the bait. Now Trump has his prop and he is using it quite effectively.

I'll give Trump credit if I think it's due and in this case it's a clever tactic.

This is not going to go well - I thought October was the month for surprises.

You can call Trump all the names you wish but Americans like their presidential candidates alive on polling day no matter what their views or who they are- it’s just a funny quirk they have.

Whilst we can expect the Trump camp to milk this to the max, it was clearly an “incident” and its impact will be essentially stirring the fear and the hate that grips America today already.

This is not going to be good for Harris- clearly anyone who was still on the fence or undecided is being very much pushed into the Trump side now , mentally at least. Conspiracy theories in over drive so social media won’t be a pleasant place (not that it is) -wall to wall coverage on TV- so again Harris will be page 2 news. Do they have enough bizzare stores and events to seize the headlines everyday till election time? Likely not but they’re making a lot of noise regularly now - Harris camp can’t be happy- they need visibility and regular exposure- positive exposure

“Multiple police sources have confirmed to media that an AK-47 was recovered at the scene and that he was pointing the weapon towards the golf course on Sunday afternoon before shots were fired at 2:00 p.m.

The armed suspect was posted up outside the club around the 5th and 6th hole, which a source familiar with the incident told DailyMail.com is a 'vulnerable' area of the course.

Undergrowth is cut back in this area every summer and is one of the parts of the course closest to the road.”

Haha. So this is all part of a 4d chess move by Trump? To get one of the most popular artists in the country, with a massive and wide fan base, to endorse Harris and urge all his fans to register and vote.

And then saying he hates her will totally wreck Harris?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,195 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Ah, so it was the Trump campaign who baited her into voicing her support for Harris, and not just falling for a sh*tty fake photos, and also the Trump campaign are using Swift as their prop to unite their base which is already united even though it's believed Swift encouraging her young voters who are able to vote to get registered and to vote for Harris and that would be worse for Trump.

Yes, absolutely genius. Unite your existing base which is already voting for you and lose potential new voters at the same time.

The only potential thing I may give credit to Trump for on this is it helps to distract from Vance admitting they're lying about the Ohio pets story and will lie again if they need to. If Trump posted that he hates Swift to distract from that, credit where credit is due. But the idea that his tweet is actually some masterful plot to turn Swift into a figurehead of the Dems instead of the actual f*cking nominee to "unite the base" is a level of Comical Ali not seen since Comical Ali.

No doubt it will turn out to be a Trump supporter that shot near him, just like his last assassin, who was also a Trump fan. When your own kind want you dead, it should give you pause and to allow some introspection into the direction you are heading. Trump, though, would never allow himself to look inwards, his narcissism would never allow it. So, the reality is that he will cry foul about it, but nobody will care. I will say, though, if I was one of Trumps travelling staff, I'd be thinking about where I'm standing when in his presence.

He's alive so it's not particularly easy to build a conspiracy theory if the guy can be interviewed and a motive assessed. Also worth remembering, getting shot in the ear didn't even benefit him polling wise.

It might have benefited him but was lost in the Democratic Convention bounce.

This is one time Trump is glad he didn't get a hole in one while playing golf.

Its truly horrifying that people are making jokes and snide remarks about an attempted assassination attempt on someone.

    Classless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,107 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Spare us the faux concern while you practice a hear no evil see no evil speak no evil policy towards Republicans. This post is just another demonstration of that and double standards.

    Classless?

We are a bunch of randomers on boards.

As opposed to public figures with a platform like...

JD Vance admitting he lied to whip up racial hysteria, that has led to bomb threats to immigrants.

Truly horrifying? You mean like Trump joking about hanging Mike pence or the attack on the Pelosi family?

Not seeing many jokes overall but the reality is he's perfectly safe and unharmed. I don't recall you getting outraged about his pretty horrible remarks in relation to the woman he raped. Or the fact he brought a 911 conspiracy theorist to a 911 memorial. You seem fine with the rapist and felon whenever he's classless, horrifying really.

Are you really surprised? The same people will then say you are morally bankrupt because of yada yada yada.

Was it truly horrifying when Trump joked about Pelosi's husband getting bludgeoned with a hammer?

Don't remember you clutching your pearls over that.

@MisterAnarchy and @Dingaan must hold the man who's aiming to be president to a higher standard than the average boards user. I assume they must view Trump as unfit to be president cause he's one of the most classless of people globally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,107 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Yeah it would be good to get clarity as to how horrifying a remark like the below would be in the current situation.

Or is it merely snide or classless?

After all it was a good enough line for Trump when the shoe was on the other foot after the horrific assault on the Pelosis.

"Donald Trump has a big wall wrapped around his golf course. Of course, it didn’t help too much with the problem he had, did it?”

There was no assassination attempt as the gunman was not anywhere near Trump. It was common old garden shootout , the type America is so proud of.

Yawn, it's getting boring at this stage Donald, you need new material

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,734 ✭✭✭✭Bobeagleburger

This is Trumps excuse to get out of the race now. Won't happen of course.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,866 ✭✭✭standardg60

He's a dead man walking at this stage, there's gonna be a lot more willing to sacrifice themselves to stop their country going down the drain.

They're heading for civil war if he wins imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,734 ✭✭✭✭Bobeagleburger

    No they aren't. That's sensationalism.

You might get a few riots but civil war, no chance.

Thats not what has been reported

Trump targeted in apparent assassination attempt at golf course, says FBI

A Secret Service agent spotted an AK-47-style weapon poking out of bushes on the golf course about a hole ahead of where Trump was playing, and engaged the suspect

A witness then saw a man flee in a black Nissan, which was later pulled over by a sheriff and the potential suspect was arrested

A weapon, scope, backpacks and GoPro camera were found in shrubs near the edge of the golf course

Well depends on your defnition of 'assassination attempt' but this sounds like a guy was plotting same but was intercepted by the secret service.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told reporters that a Secret Service agent - who was patrolling the course ahead of Mr Trump - spotted a rifle barrel coming out of a perimeter fence.

"He immediately engaged that individual, at which time the individual took off," he said.

I love that you repeatedly share ‘daily mail’ links. High powered journalism, that. They make the big words small, on purpose.

Trump will lose, but you can still read Melania’s book.

So killing Trump is the solution?

If anything could actually cause a civil war in America, assassinating Donald Trump is it. Making a martyr of him would be disastrous.

Anyone who thinks killing another person is the solution to anything is beyond being reasoned with. Some people have a lot of growing up and copping on to do it would seem.

    Glazers Out!
