Any tips to get best quote?

my renewal came in at 480 123.ie, Chill came up with 380.

I do 8000kms a year, age 47, live dublin, don't use car to go to work, lots of NCB the max, and no points etc.

    Cheers, in advance

Best way is just to ring and say you're not happy. NCB is the same from 5 years on for most insurers it doesn't matter from then onwards it's the same bonus i.e 75% discount thereabouts.

Different people will tell you different things "this insurer is the best quote I got" but doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason going from person to person.

Friend of mine is the same age as me, same NCB, same points, same car in the same year and we live in the same area, and his quote with AXA was 250 more than mine, explain that??

Tell them you have an alternative quote of €380. Or shop around further.

Try a good broker with a decent motor book of business.

Oh and use the correct forum 😉

Honestly that is already pretty cheap

You’re like a dog with a bone with getting the once or twice a month insurance threads into that ghost town, we’re not exactly inundated here!
’MODS!? MODS!? Can you move this to the graveyard of the insurance forum? This thread is in slightly the wrong place.’

I haven’t seen our remaining mod in weeks. Personal abuse, trolling and zombie thread reign. Welcome to the thunderdome, I mean, Motors….

Personally I don’t see the issue with car insurance threads in the motors section. Plenty of helpful posters here and they make for good reading sometimes.

Anything sub 400 is a reasonably good price IMO

The insurance forum is dead. If you want a thread to go unanswered, post one there. I asked boards admin to lock it to new posts a few months ago. They are looking into it….

Last year with 123.ie it was 377 this year they wanted 478, how can this be?

I queried it and they came down 20 euros just, seem a bit mad.

I got for 365 in the end after shopping around, cheaper than last year!

123.ie is the RCA insurance website. Try some others like An Post, AVIVA, AXA etc. Also, there can be a huge price difference if you pay upfront rather than monthly. You also need to make sure the lower quotes are providing the same cover. Some companies exclude such things as windscreen, NCB protection and/or breakdown recovery cover from their basic quote.

I never claim for things like windscreens or anything, but yep I should chack, went for the 365 quote, its cheaper than last year even.
