Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Artetas Arsenal are just George Grahmns Arsenal in disguise.

Feel like I’m watching Barca vs. Chelsea from 2012.

Really well organised defence from Arsenal here.

Outrageous time wasting from Arsenal here.

Why the ref is stopping play is beyond me.

7 minutes and a few more now.

Timber lying down now. Silva booked for complaining.

Well if it works, why not? Also, down to 10 against supposedly the best team in the land and they've managed to reduce them to pathetic shots from 30 yards. They deserve a lot of credit today.

Be nice to get some fisticuffs and point deductions here at the final whistle

I guess they just didn’t have the Stones to hold on….

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    That is going to hurt.

    This is fcuking great stuff

Thats disgusting. Arsenal defended well but you can't let City have 90% of the ball for 45 minutes and expect them not to score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,786 ✭✭✭✭tom1ie

    Drama!

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,246 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Thought it could have been a boring game and it was the direct opposite.

    Full of drama.

Ref did Arsenal a massive favour at the end by not playing the extra 2 minutes he was supposed to. (Given VAR said there would be 99 and the goal was scored after 97).

    Fair result !

Gutted for Arsenal. They put on some defensive masterclass for 99% of the second half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,463 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

Typical, to get that late goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,742 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Still a great result for Arsenal

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,984 ✭✭✭Soups123

How can Var tell the referee to play to 99 minutes. Does the referee not control the time in his watch?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,378 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Beforehand maybe but throwing away two points at the end will be hard to swallow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

Credit to Arsenal, unlike last season they actually came to win today and very nearly did.

But they’re competing against an extra one or two percent that can only be bought, not earned.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,719 ✭✭✭✭thebaz

They seam to get every bit of luck going , the more they win , the more dislikeable they become . i really hope Arsenal win league.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,737 ✭✭✭giveitholly

Think Arsenal should of brought on another centre half to shore up the defence

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,080 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Pleasantly surprised at the entertainment factor of that game. Thought it would be the opposite before hand.

Shame Sky didn't show when the benches kicked off at each other though!

This game might feel like a loss for Arsenal and a win for City given how it ended.

Two dropped points for the 12 men of City, they'll be gutted

Brilliant point for the 10 men against 12. Proud of the boys.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,498 ✭✭✭ForestFire

I was going to ask this also, Do VAR get involved in timekeeping…and if they do then why did the ref decide to blow early!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,654 ✭✭✭The Rooster

My understanding is that the ref informs all his team, and VAR then informed the commentators

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,742 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Away to Spurs, Atalanta and City in a week..when they settle down they'll take that result

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,586 ✭✭✭Jinglejangle69

When are City going to be investigated for blatant corruption??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,109 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Keanes only some white make up and a red nose away from the full transformation with his 'analysis' after the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,866 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

    Wrong thread apologies

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52,404 ✭✭✭✭tayto lover

Brilliant point. City having the home game midweek and the extra day rest before this home game and the referee against them *and hoping for a game and a nice weekend in Abu Dhabi refereeing) and the extra extra time. All in all a great point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

It is pantomime for the most part, but I think he makes a valid point about City being poor with the ball a little more than heroic Arsenal defending.

It is a shame Arsenal couldn't hold on but it was a well-earned point and one they should be happy with.

Yeah, simplistic and bombastic, just no appreciation for context.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,866 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Keane is there for soundbites and clicks. His "it's a man's game" style analysis can only go so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 264 ✭✭505_

Keane not really wrong where his point is city weren’t very good in the second half. Seemed to really miss De Bruyne’s creativity. It really looked like they didn’t have any ideas against all out defence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,586 ✭✭✭Jinglejangle69

There was a reason why City weren’t very good.

You don’t go from being the best team one week to not being very good without a reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,283 ✭✭✭AidoEirE

Arsenal supporters shouldn't be too down, that was exceptional defending for 45 minutes and Raya was outstanding. That's a proper cohesive team they have going. Unlucky at the last, but.. it's 1 point gained instead of 3 lost.

    City don't look to convicing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,713 ✭✭✭✭McDermotX

Sounds like Stones has a lot to say about dark arts, dirty tactics, ref decisions, other teams etc

Can the interviewer ask him about the 115 charges against his club please ? Thanks.

Of course when it's Arsenal doing the defending it's all about how bad City were. Yawn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,586 ✭✭✭Jinglejangle69

    Absolute nonsense from stones.

Arsenal lost two players to cramp yet it’s called the dark arts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,866 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Don't remember Stones being interviewed many times before. I can see why

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,988 ✭✭✭FourFourRED

“Personality” “character” “established international players” drinking game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,866 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

Crazy how City were missing De Bruyne and lost Rodri to injury, yet they can still bring on Foden and Grealish in the second half.

It's going to be an absolute sickener when they get off with a fine for the 115.
