Ok then. So being floored for the day or more is reasonable? The Omicron infection has less symptoms in the majority of healthy people. Floored for the day for me is a pretty severe side effect. I have never been in bed for a day with an illness and dont plan to test it.
And we will see will your other pro drug friends rally behind you for daring mention that you could be floored for a day for taking a vaccine that the disease has less side effects. Id guess you could be in trouble for confirming it.

Ah earlier on thread you seemed to suggest you decided not to get vaxxed well before Omicron. So you have invalidated your own point, as you shift the goalposts back and forwards as needed to suit the current dubious claim.

Not everybody will be floored for day or so by vaccines, it is a possibility that is all. The probability and range of symptoms for Omicron and later variants is much worse as attested in studies and by posters on this forum reporting symptoms.

Floored for a day is not a severe side effect under any generally accepted definition of it. That is your own invention as likely is such a dubious claim as never having spent a sick day in bed ever.

You are very busy scouring my posts looking for anti vaxxer nuances. Its sad really.

I have seen this playbook before... and here is the attempt at playing the victim when someone starts poking holes in the inconsistencies and contradictions in your claims.

    Again

Its the same with Omicron. Vast vast majority (unless you are in an at risk group). Will experience no or mild symptoms. It is debatable if the virus or the vaccine (IMHO) causes worse symptoms in healthy young people.

    https://www.cedars-sinai.org/newsroom/study-most-people-infected-with-omicron-didnt-know-it/
And no. Mild is not floored for a day. Mild is a cold like symptoms.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

You seem to be the one drastically looking for anti vaxxer evidence when you got caught out admitting (probably you) was floored for the day after taking your beloved drug.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

And just to respond to your usual misinformation trying to make me out (as usual) as some anti vaxxer. I commented numerous times that I would rather wait for an attenuated (LAV) . And I would rather pass on the mRNA ones. At the time there was several in the pipeline. By the time it transpired there was not going to be a LAV the need for taking the Vaccine had reduced substantially due to Omicron etc. Simple as. Much as you hate that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,633 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

Mild in medical terminology means not requiring hospital treatment and recovering. Having to spend a day in bed is mild.

    https://www.health.com/condition/infectious-diseases/coronavirus/mild-covid-symptoms#:~:text=Mild%20COVID%2D19%20symptoms%20mean,%2C%20headache%2C%20and%20sore%20throat.

    "Beloved drug."

Nope. It is a vaccine. Standard anti vax operating procedure to call it something other than vaccine.

Remarkable you claim you are not an anti vaxxer yet repeat their tropes.

Mind boggles. Spend your days in bed then, Ill take my chances. I had Omicron Covid and bar a slight headache (which may have been self inflicted..) was fine. Keep those shots up. Another day in bed due soon. Winter is coming.

LAV have been tried and mostly failed for coronavirus (colds in this case) previously due to low efficacy rates, though they are still trying.

If mRNA is your worry, then Novavax or Valneva might be more up your street, if you're willing to accept lower efficacy (side effects are similar).

But it does fly in the face of your "big pharma" argument.

Unless you had the virus sequenced there is no way of knowing which variant you got or if you had previously been exposed and hadn't noticed (unless you were suffering severe symptoms in which case they may sequence the variant).

Sinovac is alive and well… tested on billons too.. even a US disinformation campaign on it for extra "fck themz big pharma's" kudos.

Strangely enough, the company is looking to cease LAV vaccination and move to mRNA tech… I wonder why?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

Ill steer clear of both really. I dont trust the Chinese or Russians for that matter. Virus originated in China so good possibility they had access to data before anyone else. Not a huge fan of big pharma either but they are a necessary evil. If there is money to be made we all like to maximise it. Cant blame them on that. In my business I have been accused of the same myself. And a certain amount of truth to it (my business). Nothing like a good crisis to make a lot of money.

Ok hold on a minute. You wrote "You're statement is false" twice now in 2 separate posts. It makes my head hurt. That reads as "You are statement is false".

It's "Your". Your statement. You're means You are.

Fairly obvious what he means. Its worse with 'loose' and 'lose' especially if the context of the sentence is lost with the incorrect word. The standard of English these days is not great.

no I’m afraid you’re misrepresenting the facts. Most of the people who died who did not get the pharma shot were already gravely ill and the shot was seen as too dangerous to give them (we have all heard the stories of older people dying shortly after getting the shot). The vast vast majority of people who did not get the pharma shot and were not already gravely ill suffered nothing but a minor cold from Covid and they avoided the complications from the pharma shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,633 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

If you are going to claim someone is misrepresenting the facts, how about providing any of your own?

You have zero evidence, zero citations, zero support for anything you are claiming.

The people who ended up in hospital in hospital and ICU suffered something far worse than a minor cold.
And they did so in disproportionate numbers if unvaccinated. Established already on thread, average age of those in ICU was far lower for unvaccinated versus vaccinated from covid.
Figures from Ireland and other jurisdictions establish this.

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-022-32458-y

Also, calling it the pharma shot and not what it actually is - a vaccine - is standard anti vax operating propaganda.

So you are the one misrepresenting things, on multiple levels.

Vaccination status of laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in those age>12 notified in Ireland 27th June - 4th. December 2021. Risk of severe outcome during the month of November 2021.

Unvaccinated were 4 times more likely to be hospitalised with laboratory confirmed COVID-19 than those fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated were 11 times more likely to be admitted to I.C.U.than those fully vaccinated. Source : HSE HPSC Epidemology Team 13/12/2021.

Facts are verifiable, and those are the facts. So no, I have not misrepresented the facts. An accusation that I have is a bit rich coming from somebody that has posted nothing other than vague ramblings on pharma, and believes that the disproportionate numbers of those unvaccinated taking up hospital and I.C.U. beds at the time were doing so because they were suffering from minor colds.

**** happens. Meanwhile thousands avoided death through vaccines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

Yes but he was never at risk from Covid. A life lost unnecessarily due to 'the vaccine passports'. And **** happens is a very callous attitude to someone who died from taking a drug he did not need or want.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,357 ✭✭✭Shoog

That's bad logic if you are an epidemiologist. Risk is at a population level.

There is no way in advance of predicting who will die, what's important is that fewer people die overall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,856 ✭✭✭Allinall

How can you categorically say he was never at risk from Covid?

Are you a specialist in the area?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

No Are you? It is well documented that young healthy persons with no comorbidities are at minimal risk from Covid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,357 ✭✭✭Shoog

They are at lesser risk from the vaccines. You choose your risk and take your chances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,710 ✭✭✭jackboy

It was quite easy to predict who was most likely to die. Age and existing health issues made dying way more likely.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

Yes there is. We are heading into bull**** territory. Everyone knows who is most at risk from Covid and who will die. There will be certain outliers like in all statistical analysis. Healthy 23 year olds are not the ones going to be dying from Covid except in exceptional circumstances. The Vaccine killed him because he wanted to travel and took it against his instincts and adversion to drugs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,357 ✭✭✭Shoog

... The chances of anyone contracting COVID and endingup in ICU or dead were elevated. This poor lad could easily have died from complicatons from contracting COVID. The reasons he died from the vaccine would have made him far more likely to suffer bad outcomes from the disease.

We can all feel sorry for the lads family, but that is no excuse for goulishly latching onto his death to attempt to discredit vaccines

So you cannot say he was never at risk from Covid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,710 ✭✭✭jackboy

Equating vaccine injury to the disease impacts would need solid proof. They are not exactly the same thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

Unfortunately that was not the case. He had to take the vaccine to travel. He was not given a choice. One of the many common methods of 'increasing' cough cough, forcing vaccine uptake.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

Oh Id have to have a look at his medical records. Get a grip. What do you think yourself? This is boards. Its not autopsy.ie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 796 ✭✭✭jsd1004

You did not seem too sorry for his family when you proclaimed **** happens that he died. I hope you agree with his family that the truth should be put out there about the negative effects of the vaccine on some people. And on a side not. Why did we not hear about this in 2021? Being cynical here but i would be thinking if that was made public in 2021 the younger cohort (rightly or wrongly) would have thought twice about being jabbed. Would not have fitted the narrative at the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,357 ✭✭✭Shoog

I understand how every choice comes with benefits and risks. In the grand scheme of things I understand that cases like this are inevitable (they are predicted) but I am not such a child that I cannot admit that some people will suffer with or without the vaccine. I feel for the suffering of them all.

It's not about the cheap shots we can score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭Markus Antonius

All during covid the lockdown cheerleaders on boards.ie were plastering threads with "one death is too many, we need a lockdown now".

Now that we have a death making the news likely linked to the vaccine, the same cohort are coming out saying "you will always have rare cases of adverse reaction" blah blah blah

Just more double standards from covid fundamentalists

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,077 ✭✭✭✭Bass Reeves

COVID19 not just the vaccines gave a rise in intercranial bleeding. Those with COVID 19 were 80% more likely to suffer a stroke than people not sick with the disease. **** happens is not the applicable expression. However if you got COVID you were much more likely to have a stroke.

A person susceptible to such an occurrence would carry that risk when getting a vaccine but at a lower risk level. About 7500 people get a stroke in Ireland every year.

    https://irishheart.ie/heart-and-stroke-conditions-a-z/stroke/

We have no figures for different types of brain injuries in Ireland, from concussion. It's a significant factor in sport, in Rugby, GAA and the risk is in soccer as well from even heading the ball. There would have been a significant risk if he got COVID the outcome would be similar unfortunately.

"The inquest was told evidence will be submitted that 59 other people suffered intercranial bleeds within 10 days of receiving the same vaccine."

Nothing to see here. And this isn't even the most common severe adverse effect from this vaccine, which is the one that the least amount of people got compared to the other brands .

Will be interesting to see if Arteriovenous malformations (AVM) is mentioned in the case (or even more interesting if they are mentioned in the evidence, or left out).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,593 ✭✭✭Sconsey

Hold up, you appear to have made a massive leap in logic there, are you saying the vaccine caused his illness? You better get your ass up to the courts quickly to present your evidence. I am sure your scientific method will appreciated. Or maybe, just maybe you are talking out your hole?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,231 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Temporary lockdowns were needed primarily to reduce pressure on hospitals. It wasn't "popular" like you are attempting to project, it was just something that had to be done. Most other countries had temporary lockdowns for similar reasons.

Like any medication, vaccinations can have side effects. In very rare circumstances these can lead to death. Out of the 6 billion jabs in total, there have been only a handful of potentially linked deaths. The benefits greatly outweigh the risks.

These threads are replete with a handful of individuals who repeatedly demonstrate they cannot understand these simple concepts or don't want to understand them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,231 ✭✭✭✭Dohnjoe

Maybe your anecdotal story is true, maybe it's not.

Here are the facts. Thousands of people died as a result of Covid in Ireland, many more were hospitalized. The vaccines reduced deaths/hospitalizations by up to 80%.

In terms of serious injury/death from the vaccines (around 95% of the adult population here is vaccinated) these have been highly rare.

It's straightforward medication. Medication can have side effects. Aspirin for example is 200 times more dangerous than Covid vaccines.

    https://pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/getting-a-covid-jab-is-safer-than-taking-aspirin

Around a dozen sources are estimated to be responsible for the majority of anti-vax disinfo online - and it's worth millions. Some individuals fall for it. Ironically a higher proportion of deaths in ICU's were unvaccinated people. People literally died due to a fake belief or a non-understanding of risk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,380 ✭✭✭Markus Antonius

Stop giving the vaccine credit for the work the Omicron strain did. Omicron being far less severe and far more contagious - it was the best vaccine everyone got. It's disgusting that governments and pharma companies are taking credit for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,633 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

    Nope.

Restrictions were being lifted with vaccines well before Omicron in Ireland and elsewhere such as Denmark.

Ireland temporarily brought some back while assessing Omicron severity.

    Denmark and others did not.

Places like Hong Kong were hard hit by Omicron due to large numbers of unvaccinated.

Solid evidence of key role of vaccination.

What an utterly daft thing to come out with. The vaccine was what got us through the pandemic. Why pretend otherwise?

When Omicron and it's sub-variants started hitting in autumn 2021 the majority of people were already vaccinated, the vaccines at the time were estimated to offer e.g. an approx 40% reduction in hospitalization against the new variant. The companies then started working on vaccines to also tackle the Omicron variant.

A mutation being milder and the vaccines reducing hospitalizations/deaths are not mutually exclusive.

It's the job of vaccine developers to develop vaccines.

It's not normal or sane to harbour such vitriol against people making treatments for stuff that can hospitalize or kill us.
