The travelling part of going anywhere, no wonder it's hard to get me to go on holiday

From experience, you'll need a cortisone-based cream, but ask your GP or chemist just to be sure. It's the type of reaction that instead of just leaving you with a small, itchy bump it gives you red patches the size of a hand, broken capillaries and a huge welt that simultaneously hurts, itches and burns like hell, right?

On the plus side, if you go back every year for a few years your body will get used to it and you'll barely get a reaction anymore.

I remember staying in a hotel in Croatia with a tour group.
If you had a sea view, you were awoken at dawn by a flock of seagulls screeching for no reason.
If you had a view of the trees and gardens, you were plagued by mosquitos.

same as that every time i go to Italy (mrs is from there) i have a feeling the wee stingy fcuks are sitting around saying "we-a wait-a for-a the paddy and we have-a the good-a feed, molto bene" i cant think of the name but i found a good repellent, its in a yellow spray bottle with a red top, smells sort of petrolish and warns not to breathe it in or smoke when you put it on but it seems to work…the annoyance is i accidently gave a spray to me bollix one time…oh sweet baby jebus,i was sobbing for ten minutes after!

You have put the thought of mozzies at the airport waiting on a Ryanair plane with gleeful faces 😝😝

That's the reaction but sadly hydro-cortisone does very little for it, nor do any OTC antihistamines. I ended up in the care of the Mater wound clinic and on a whopper dose of antibiotics the last time, and that was only for one bite. I have six this time 😭😭😭 Including one on the knuckle of my index finger, which is quite possibly the worst place to be bitten when you react like I do.

Going to have to see a specialist, I think. My own doctor is useless and the web docs just keep prescribing antibiotics after the fact. Was chatting to a woman with a severe mossie allergy at a barbecue a few weeks ago when I was still dealing with the first bite and she said she had to get special anaphylaxis drugs for when she goes away. It's not a life-threatening allergy at all but she said she gets bites like mine otherwise and it's definitely enough to ruin a holiday.

Sure I ended up signed off work for over a week the last time because I couldn't walk on the ankle. Couldn't actually take that time off, mind, but that's a rant for another day.

Jesus , reading above I’m delighted I don’t seem to have severe reactions to insect bites. That’s an awful reaction @Dial Hard

I sent an email, asking 3 straightforward questions. Got a reply with one answer 'and if you need anything else, contact me.'

Er, how about an answer to my other questions or if you don't know, point me in the direction of someone who does. 🙄

The local food place who managed to wrangle in a nice way of saying "clean up your own dog sh*t" on the actual menu board.

Hmmm, fluffy pancakes, steak sambo, or a steaming pile of Labradoodle sh*te, i just can't decide.

why online shopping retailers require more and more of your personal information when you attempt to do business with them. A crowd I was in the process of setting up an account with was only short of requiring to know my blood type and asking for a finger print. Forget it. Name, address, email and card details ‘should’ be enough to make a simple online clothing purchase…im not giving them my age / dob, mobile number or anything else.

When walking barefoot in the house, and you open a door and try to walk through before it's fully open, and you hit your toes on the corner of the approaching door.

    Awful pain.

More I think about it, this is not a trivial annoyance.

I think if you go back a page that’s the last post . Mine shows a blank page on the last page . If that makes sense .

There's some thread on here that the last 3 or 4 pages have no posts.

The Bank of Ireland app (on android anyway) that strips out the decimal point when you paste in a figure. So instead of paying 1500.45 you could potentially be paying 150045. A fundamental part of the entire decimal money system is ignored. How can that happen ? I know the app is probably protecting against malicious input, but a decimal point, come on !

Excluding the units on a measurement. Do you mean miles or kilometers ? Farenheit or celsius ? Centimetres or millimetres ...

Road signs do this, news sites do this. It is so strange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,691 ✭✭✭SuperBowserWorld

People parking their huge Chelsea Tractors on the footpath when they attend religious ceremonies. You can't even squeeze past walking.

Good luck with buggies and wheelchairs.

And it can be so bad that not even an ambulance or fire truck can get past.

Why do pensioners insist on doing their shopping on a weekend? There's literally an entire week of relatively quiet time to potter around and take your time and slowly go around. Leave the weekends to the working folk who have no other choice.

I had to pop up to the supermarket for coffee for guests coming to the house and the local shopping centre was carnage. I expected busy but I was shocked at the amount of pensioners causing holdups.

Old road signs (with the old script) were always in miles, the newer signs (well, I say new... they've been aroynd dince the early 90s...) are always in kilometres - km is written in smaller script above the number, too.

These would be miles, for instance.

people obsessed with phones. If I’m walking out the door to meet someone for lunch at an appointed time and a phone rings or a WhatsApp notification… if it’s not the person/people I’m meeting that phone will be ignored….and I’ll catch up with whoever, later……

As of now, should have been at the pub 32 minutes ago but some Sunday afternoon enquiry from their family about god know what. 🕝

Went out to walk the dog in a mild drizzle. Heavens fcuking opened while we were out and stayed open the whole time. Had to change my clothes and towel dry the dog when we got home. Back to mild drizzle 15 seconds afterwards.

Fcuk you, universe. I'm not moving off the couch for the rest of the day.

cooked some fresh ‘filled’ supermarket brand Mezzelune pasta…. Same one I always buy… something is different, lacks texture, lacks flavour… I eat two pieces, I open the third, there is ZERO filling inside, no remnants of meat or cheese, or sauce, most other pieces are the same…..

Doesn’t fill a person with any confidence regards overall quality control when all ingredients of what is supposed to go in the dish ain’t there…. I used to get comments from an ex when I got my fresh pasta dishes in Fallon and Byrne but despite being dearer than D****s Stores, at least the ingredients were there, as advertised. 👀

Think this weekend would of been the Ladies Final

Yeah it's just not the same anymore, at least i can take comfort Waterford we're in the 'last September All Ireland Hurling Final' (also the December one) but don't talk about the results

There's a woman on my bus eating a full corn on the cob. I really didn't need to see or smell that at this hour of the morning.

Big toenails . . there's yet to be a pair of nail scissors invented that can successfully tackle cutting one of my big toenails, that doesn't first fire random bits of toenail projectile around the kitchen, only to end up bending or breaking.

Soak your feet for half an hour, it'll soften the nails and make it easier to cut them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭Deregos.

Aha . . never thought of that but it makes sense . Saves going down this route.

People who don't know how to use an ellipses…. or don't know that it only has three dots….or think it means they can just fire off a bunch of non-sequiturs…. I just know they're the kind of people to start arguments using "facts" they heard on twitter….

Writers who cannot write properly so they make use words that are not correct for the context

some websites are now using ai to write articles but they usually have someone to check the article to make sure it has no obvious errors

”While John’s career would continue to reach new highs with over 40 multiplatinum records and one diamond record, “Rocket Man” still remains as one of his greatest music outputs

Wtf outputs was this article written by chatgpt ai?

replace greatest music outputs with greatest pop songs

or greatest chart hits of the 70,s

imagine going to a record store and saying i need to buy taylor swifts latest output .

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/entertainment/article/best-70s-songs/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark

People who speak on popcasts who drop t,s eg important is pronounced as imporaant .

if you are older than 25 don,t try and use gen z slang like rizz or mid .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,072 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

    Also, it's an ellipsis.

Ellipses would be more than one.

People who do the same thing over and over, when the consequences of that thing could be very expensive or catastrophic even. And you ask them not to do it. And they still go and ******* do it. Like talking to the ******* wall.

Me : “ we have to leave by 4.30 or we’ll be late ”

Them : “ will you stop panicking, we’ll be grand “

Me ( as we are stuck on Shanowen Rd at 4.48 in an almighty backlog) : “well 😒 ?”

Them : “ sure how was I to know we’d hit this level of traffic “

Me : “ because it’s around rush hour & I advised you I know the area and common sense….! Forget it !“

    Grrrrrrrrr

People who get their kids iPhones. Ridiculous price for something that they'll lose or break, when you can get a Samsung or Google Pixel Android phone for a lot less with several years OS and security updates now (not including dodgy android makes here). The same people then say they have no money. Yeah, blow it out your ****.
