They'll just claim that it's a lie and "election interference" from whatever entity it is that published these figures..

Just like the recent interest rate cut was election interference too.

Trump has already claimed that more than 100% of new jobs have gone to migrants. Substantially more. Substantially more than 100% of new jobs have gone to migrants.

200,000 jobs created? Around 225,000 of those 200,000 jobs gone to migrants according to the business genius Donald Trump.

At this stage I dont care, it doesnt take away from the the fact that Trump condemned White Nationalists which was left out of the initial reporting that created this hoax.

105% of those jobs were taken by illegal immigrants

Just give it up, man. He said there were fine people on both sides. Who could be called a fine person thats in attendance at a white power rally?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 16,699 Mod ✭✭✭✭Quin_Dub

Which is exactly what Trump was hoping for when he said it the way that he did.

It's that lack of clarity and lack of TOTAL condemnation of EVERYONE that attended that allows Trump Supporters to believe that he wasn't talking about them when he condemned the "white nationalists" because he mentioned these non-existent "fine people" and they could think that they were who he meant.

Do you believe that there might have been "fine people" at some of the BLM type protests and did Trump ever use that kind if equivocation for those groups ?

Or are the only examples of him "both sides'ing" things when his supporters are involved??

But it does though. As you've agreed there were no fine people, only nazis.

So either Trump was calling nazis fine people after condemning them. (Which is what the nazis took him to have done.)

Or he's refering to imaginary people he dreamed up. Which would indicate instability on his part.

So yes, both of these things take away from his pathetic "condemning".

Also, leaving aside the fact you're lying about stuff being left out of the reporting, it's another very hypocritical thing for you to do. You tried to whitewash the fact that the rally was entirely nazis by pretending that it was just a bunch of people interested in history. You even tried to make up some Jewish and black people who attended it.

You do, though. You keep bringing it up over and over again before going silent whenever the lie is called out. We know what Trump said, as do most Americans. They either see it as a sensible reason to keep him out of office or they love him more for it. There's little in between.

It was a white supremacist rally and they killed a woman, Heather Heyer. Trump called them "very fine people". It's really that simple.

It's funny how points seem to stop mattering once a Trump supporter is no longer able to actually defend the point any more.

    Oh my goodness…

So there WAS 2 geese killed in Springfield Ohio 😱

On the day of the debate 😱

But it wasn’t an immigrant 🧐 or even a person of color, but a “heavy set” white dude on a riding lawn mower with a shotgun (peak ‘Mericuh), named Brian Comer. Arrest records show he was charged with illegal harvesting of the geese off a golf course

Deport him to Haitia we reckon?

Now that Melania has come out with an opposite view to him on abortion, we can expect Donald to denounce her as a Never Trumper, a RINO and a 'Low IQ Individual'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,508 ✭✭✭✭aloyisious

Him saying that there were "fine people there" is, by itself, an admission there were Nazis [or White Nationalists' if one prefers that as an alternative] as he had to see them against others there, which, given he spoke about them, means they were not a hoax.

Watched a bit of the artificially tanned ones rallies earlier.

Low energy would be a understatement, sounded like a record being played at the wrong speed.

He loves that immigrant. Funny that she lived in Maryland with her Slovenian parents when Trump was in the WH. Zero shame in her prostitution.

No. His prenuptial agreement with Ivana had a 5 year period, after which divorcing her would become more expensive so he divorced her before this period elapsed and she still got a decent settlement. Now, he's inundated with lawsuits, his brand is toxic and he's been married to Melania for much longer. He'd be royally screwed if he did that and she knows it. I suspect that she's participating in the marriage because, well… He's 79.

When the Trump campaign needs a boost, Marjorie has claimed that a mysterious “they” can control the weather after Hurricane Helene killed more than two dozen people in her state and a total of 200 across the US.

Earlier, Greene had posted a map of the South-eastern US that appears to show political affiliation by county in areas hardest hit by Hurricane Helene.

According to Marje, this is a map of hurricane affected areas with an overlay of electoral map by political party shows how hurricane devastation could affect the election. She hasn't said yet who the "They" are. So far satellites controllers have not been mentioned by her.

Don is fond of using the "They" when he's referring to whomever he attributes as a source for his latest reveal so maybe he'll relay Marje's claim also as sourced from a "they".

Shouldn't "Marje" be more concerned with goings on in Springfield?

I was reminded of the picture Trump altered because the facts didn't suit his desires.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,864 ✭✭✭✭Tell me how

Saw a couple videos on social media earlier of pictures of typical mid-west towns in America and Trump doing a voice over imploring the people to be strong, that help is on the way, that they just need to have faith and vote and he'll take the country out of the mess it is in and save everyone in it.

The thing is, it's an AI audio clip. They can't even use anything he has released as part of official campaign material or something he said at a rally for this type of stuff, they literally have to pretend that he is thoughtful, strong and a good communicator.

I know it's not the campaign doing this, but you'd think even Republicans would hear it and put 2 and 2 together and at least some of them would have stopped and thought, 'What are we doing here?'.

Same goes with the fetishized AI images of him with a six pack and the likes. Aren't they supposed to be the 'facts' over 'feelings' crowd?

Meanwhile Republicans in these disaster zones, from Brian Kemp to Kane, yes, that Kane, have been putting to bed rumors that the federal response to the disaster has been anything less than exemplary:

Two things:1) To my knowledge, FEMA, TEMA, nor anyone else is confiscating supplies. Please quit spreading those rumors as they are counterproductive to response efforts.2) If everyone could maybe please put aside the hate for a bit and pitch in to help, that would be great.

Yes, yes, we live in a bizarre timeline. And no it doesn't help that Trump/MAGA are doing so much to inflict so much disinformation, it will wind up exacerbating rescue and recovery efforts.

Speaking of AI, CNN’s Jake Tapper demonstrated how high fidelity that AI generated video has gotten, using an AI generated monologue of an AI generated rendering of Jake Tapper, dubbed Deep Jake.

We have seen manipulated images and spliced up clips ie. cheap fakes for decades (a long time favorite of trolls online was reducing playback speed of Pelosi videos to make her sound drunk eg.) but we knew eventually there would come a time when computing advanced to the point where you could “photoshop” entire videos to whatever you want - and well it seems pretty clear that time is essentially now. Video inside:

    https://www.mediaite.com/tv/jake-tapper-opens-segment-on-ai-with-eerily-accurate-deepfake-intro-of-himself/

I do think we will see AI generated fakeries in the next few weeks making bombastic claims and I do think we will see them peddled by bad actors particularly from MAGA, probably much closer to November 4th to mitigate the backlash that the round of fact checks would result in. I only hope when it happens that platforms are swift to shut down the nonsense.

Making jokes about the man who died at his rally now, always classy...

“So they’re going to get millions of dollars, but the woman, the wife, this beautiful woman, I handed her the check—we handed her the check—and she said, ‘This is so nice, and I appreciate it, but I’d much rather have my husband.’ Now, I know some of the women in this room wouldn’t say the same,” Trump said.

If Trump is so gung ho about bombing Iran's nuclear capabilities, why did he permit them to develop them by ripping up the Iran Nuclear Deal? Why didn't he bomb them like he has been saying to, when he was President? Why did he not respond when Iran carried out the largest ballistic missile against a US military base in history? (← free Wapo Link) Easy to talk tough now when he doesn't have to back it up with executive action.

This is the same candidate that people on thread have been claiming is some kind of 'anti-war hawk?' Touting his platform stating that he will "prevent world war 3?"

    '…what he meant was…'

    https://www.mediaite.com/trump/trump-says-israel-should-bomb-irans-nuclear-facilities-and-worry-about-the-rest-later/

You know, I rebuilt the entire military jets, everything I built it, including nuclear, and I hated to build the nuclear. But I got to know firsthand the power of that stuff, and I’ll tell you what, we have to be totally prepared. We have to be absolutely prepared. But when they asked him that question, the answer should have been hit the nuclear first and worry about the rest later. And that’s why they should, if they’re going to do it, if they’re going to do it, they’re going to do it, but we’ll find out whatever their plans are.

But I got to know firsthand the power of that stuff,

What the **** is he talking about here?

Does he think he's seen nukes go off or something?

He supports her how? Her right to free speech maybe. But he categorically rejects her view. Not only that, we can assume that he knew of her views and yet ignored them and went ahead to push through SCOTUS appointments picked solely for their views on Roe v wade. He has spent much of the last few years celebrating how successful he was he going against her views.

He doesn't believe in a woman's right to decide, he thinks they should pay a price for making such a choice.

He wants that decision to be taken by the state legislation.

All his actions show he doesn't support her view in the slightest.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I think he maybe lying.

I might offer that it’s entirely possible (or damn well very likely) that Donnie doesn’t actually give a damn about abortion either way. He just knows it’s something that the swivel-eyed evangelical loons that vote for him want to have (and even then many of those people would likely get abortions secretly if it was expedient to them).

Donnie simply doesn’t care. He doesn’t care because he personally doesn’t need an abortion, and can likely secure one for anyone he knocks up regardless of a federal abortion ban. He can help get Roe pulled thinking that it will appease his lunatic fringe supporters…while stupidly borking his chances with nearly everyone else.

I kind of suspect Melania’s ghost-written book having a pro-choice argument is an attempt to play-act towards the rest of the world to say “Hey! Look! We’re actually pro-choice!” While Donnie gets to continue to brag about Roe. Trying to have the cake and eat it too.

But either way, if it’s not about him Donnie just doesn’t care.

Liz Cheney gave a great speech about just what matters in this election, when she endorsed Harris and said she'd vote for her. Worth watching, a rare thing these days to hear a decently delivered speech.

Not a word about Shaggy, Scooby or the flying spaghetti monster either.

Cheney told you where she came from, what happened, the threat represented by Trump and why she's endorsing Harris.

Great to hear a good speech once in awhile.

Does anyone actually think that Donald hasn't sent a woman or two off for an abortion in the past and paid her off? Do people actually think that he is some sort of evangelist totally against it? He clearly isn't. Just like how he used to be a Democrat. It's all bs.

There was at least a rumour of a 'catch and kill' by the Enquirer regarding a doorman at the Turd Tower that was an intermediary for such. Never seemed to gain any legs.

But, if Donald hadn't, had his dad? Oh, I know:

With a name like that she must be the wife or daughter of Dick Cheney, the former US Vice President, who was the architect of the Iraq War which led to tens of thousands of deaths.

Not surprising she isn't bothered to even mention Gaza.

Just because someone says they don’t like Trump doesn't make it a good speech.

More whataboutery. I also think it quite likely that you know full well who Liz Cheney is. She's speaking about the presidential election in a month and most Americans will be voting on domestic and national issues, not Gaza.

This comes across as fake concern, honestly.

Judge the speech on what it actually says rather than what you imagine it should say. She made a good case for supporting Harris and that was her sole purpose in that speech. Her opinions on Gaza are totally irrelevant to the point she was making - which was that Donald Trump is a direct threat to democracy in the USA.

That is the point. This is a person idealogically opposite to Democrats. And she is prepared to put up with those policies because of the threat that Trump poses to the country.

She is prepared to put the country in front of her own wishes.

Maybe more Trump supporters should consider that.

i am extremely engaged by Gaza, but it is not everything. It is absolutely the case that Israel would ramp up efforts to clear Palestinians under a Trump Presidency as he has already signalled a green light to "getting the job done", which doesn't mean a ceasefire.

1 month out and everything is...the same. No real traction for either side.

You would, just about, rather be in Team Harris's position than Team Trump but it's literally a coinflip.

Keep calm and watch PA. And NC.
