Michael Ring finally ends the "Will he won't he" fanfango by plumping for the latter, as was looking increasingly likely the closer we got to the election.

    According to this

There are three frontrunners to replace Mr Ring on the ballot for Fine Gael at the next election, alongside incumbent junior minister Alan Dillon.

This includes Ballina councillor John O’Hara, Claremorris councillor Alma Gallagher, and Keira Keogh from Westport — who narrowly missed out in the local elections last month.

I'm thinking they might run Dillon, JOH and one other for geographical balance

I'd say the happiest person at this news is Lisa Chambers, should be very confident of getting back in now…

Talk that Mark Duffy has decided to run for FG, I'd say he'll get in and could put Caleary under pressure

Both Duffy and Martina Jennings of Mayo Roscommon Hospice are running for FG

Jennings obviously a great recruit for FG, talk she might even top the poll. Not so sure about Duffy's appeal beyond Ballina area but he's surely stronger than the alternatives of Mulherin & O'Hora.

Does this slate of condidates give FG a realistic shot at three seats? This guy thinks they'll do it

I would have thought Duffy had no chance as an independent but I think he could put Calleary under pressure now. Ballina has always struggled to have two TDs, I think three Dails since 1970, Sean Calleary & Paddy O'Toole X2 and Dara Calleary & Michelle Mulherin. You have RCW eating into those votes now also. Hard to see all three elected

If Dillon & Jennings are at the top of the poll that's theoretically a big fount of transfers for Duffy. But with FF & FG now on the same side, they will presumably also be transferring heavily to Chambers & Calleary, particularly the former…

Hard to call who loses out if FG do pick up three. You'd think there has to be at least one left/opposition seat, and if there's only one that surely has to be RCW. I think in the end Calleary would edge out Chambers if there is only one FF seat…

    TG4 constituency poll results out

TG4 / Ipsos B&A constituency poll in full

    Alan DILLON Fine Gael 17pc

    Rose CONWAY-WALSH Sinn Féin 13pc

    Dara CALLEARY Fianna Fáil 11pc

    Lisa CHAMBERS Fianna Fáil 10pc

    Mark DUFFY Fine Gael 10pc

    Keira KEOGH Fine Gael 8pc

    Patsy O’BRIEN Non-Party 7pc

    Paul LAWLESS Aontú 7pc

    Gerry MURRAY Sinn Féin 5pc

    Martina JENNINGS Fine Gael 4pc

Joe DALY People Before Profit 2pc

    Stephen KERR Non-Party 2pc

Mícheál ‘BOXTY’ Ó CONAILL Green Party 2pc

    Chris MAXWELL Independent Ireland 2pc

    Gerry LOFTUS Non-party 1pc

    Sean FORKIN Non-Party n/a

Looks set to be Dillon & Duffy, Calleary & Chambers and RCW unless something funny happens with transfers

Big story for me is Jennings completely out of the running: maybe her admirable hospice work isn't as widely known as might be thought…

Could Mayo be set to throw a late curveball?

Irish Election Projections predicting Lawless of Aontu will take the last seat

Patsy O'Brien set to take a seat ahead of Chambers WTF? No such thing as bad publicity I suppose…

Rumours was that he was in line to take a lump of Michael Ring vote.

RiRing Handover very poorly managed by FG. Running 4 canditates and internal fighting.

Mark Duffy's votes being distributed. Presumably will strongly favour Keogh but will not bring her up to the quota. So what happens then? Keogh and whichever is ahead of Lawless and O'Brien after Duffy's distribution are deemed elected?

Yeah, whoever is ahead the end avoids elimination and gets elected. Looks like it's Lawless that gets it
