Mobile Home in Council House Back Garden

A house in a neighbouring council estate has put (squeezed) a mobile home into their back garden in the past few days. I’m not even sure how they did it as access is extremely limited. They must have hired a mobile crane to lift it over their house or handballed it in somehow.

A gable end window of the mobile home is now looking over the fence, across a small lane, into my property. I’m assuming the council weren’t in on this, but have seen other council estate houses with similar setups in their back yards.

Do I just report this through the local authority planning enforcement or is there another route when dealing with a council property?

Why are you assuming that they didn't go through the council planning dept. Seems silly to assume that you could check.

That would be the first port of call before you do anything else

Why the reference to a council estate? It doesn't matter if it's a council estate or private estate as the planning regulations apply in each situation.

There can be a major difference between a council estate and other estates in that councils have more leverage in enforcement of planning against their own tenants than against other law-breakers.

I'm assuming as anyone with common sense would that the poster just harmlessly and incorrectly thought it would be far easier to get someone renting off the council to comply if they were in the wrong v assuming it would have been harder with an owner in a private estate.

If they are renting it's also a matter for the landlord, council or not they won't allow unauthorised developments on their property.

A friend of mine has an approved garden room in his council house and my Brother used to live next door to council tenants who put a garden room in with permission of council. The he council regularly checks both for residental use

Maybe go around and ask the householder. For all you know it was an urgent need or someone or some family would be homeless without it

Ask them to potentially put up a fence or some structure to stop them seeing into your garden

Why anyone would report this without speaking to the householder il never know

I did. They don’t care.
I know the extended family, there’s no homeless issue.

I like the structure idea. I’m going to get a big sheet of ply with a poster of Padraig Nally put up in my garden facing towards the window. Simplest solution for everyone.

It is relevant owner/landlord too, but that's none of OP's business. His recourse to complain, is via the planning department.
