I took up the Irish Times Black Friday offer last year and it’s just auto renewed at the normal rate. If you don’t want to continue make sure you cancel before you’re charged.

I rang today and they said they won't do a Black Friday sub and they don't do any reduced priced deals over the phone, that's now dealt with by their loyalty team who are email only.

Emailed them to cancel and received a reply back offering a 12 month renewal for €95. Happy with that.

They replied to me offering the next 6 months at €7 per month.

@Whimsical - they got back to me within a few hours.

3-4 hours, I got a Sub that included the ePaper.

It's crazy how the Irish Times wants to charge €135 per year for a digital subscription, when outlet giants like the New York Times or the Washington Post charge €20-25 for the same anual digital subscription. Terrible value for money. Is the Irish Times 10 times better than the New York Times? I don't think so. I'll gladly pay €20-25 for a year of the New York Times, but I won't pay nothing close to €100 for the Irish Times…

Not to mention their "amazing deal" of Premium subscription to the Irish Times for €195 / year, which includes the New York Times (which you can get by yourself for €20 through Google Play anyway).

The Times UK and Sunday Times (Ireland edition) subscription is €5 in total for 12 months. Make sure to cancel before renewal. Won't accept disposable cards (Revolut).

There is no black friday offer this year just so you are aware. You have to email them via the website asking for cancellation and they will likely offer you renewal at 75.

Strange, I used that email address and got a response a few hours later saying it is now cancelled. No mention of offers. Wasn't too pushed anyway this year! :P

It is not. I have been consistently subscribing to the NYT every year at around €20. 2 years ago, I did it through their website. It was €2/month for a year. After that year, I cancelled my subscription and subscribed next week through Google Play, cost me €19.99 for a whole year. I never paid the full price (which was €69 a year anyway).

You just need to disable auto-renew, and wait for a sale. There's at least one sale every month on their website. And through their Google Play app they run many campaigns as well.

Compare this €20 value for a full yearly subscription, even their normal price (€69) vs The Irish Times prices (€139 / €199). Absurd

Went to cancel my NYT sub last night, there's an area where you just click cancel, chose "too expensive" as your reason(was genuine, I can't afford full price) and was immediately offered the full sub including games etc for 50c a week on the next screen, so works out around 26 euro which for everything they offer thrown in is excellent.
