    Hi all,

Does anybody know technically speaking if a freely TV, bought in the North would work in Ireland with a VPN?

Or does the geo-block prevent - even with a VPN?

I'm not asking advice on how to bypass the geo-block so to speak, or advising anybody to do it - more a theoretical technical question!!

    Thanks

I have the Hisense U8N, not sure where it came from, got on very.ie BF sale beginning of November, delivered yesterday. I had to change the TVs location from Ireland to UK within the TV menu location settings for the app to become available. There is one other router config you need to change we are not allowed mention, but super easy, involving your primary DNS variable, I'll leave that to you, and it works fine, VPN not needed, too much overhead anyway

Does Saorview still work OK on these TVs with an aerial plugged in, even if you have it in 'UK' mode?

It should because the signal should be hitting you just as it would in "IE" mode, although you might find that the EPG will be set up to put the Saorview channels in the very high up channel numbers or perhaps in an "other channels" menu

If you set it to NI you might get TG4, RTE1 and RTE2 in the ~50s

Did you get freely working with Saorview channels too?
