I wouldn't know, I doubt they'd go in with them at any cost really.

My point was that they aren't really considering engaging with anyone, even other left or alleged left partys. There would most likely not be any advantage and I think they know it. They intent to stand alone even in opposition.

That was never about talking to SF; it was about offering a 22 seat bloc to FF/FG.

The SDs are now going to offer FF/FG their 11 seat bloc on their own. Presumably Hearne of the many parties and the Palantir lad want Ministries.

Doubt either would/could get it past their membership anyway.

your criticising them for going into government yet I don't see many saying what they would _actually_get_ that would be subtantial.

I think you're missing my point, or maybe not, just being argumentative perhaps.

They're a new enough party, growing and hoping to grow to be a party that can perhaps challenge for a sizable chunk of the left vote. Right now there is very little to be gained for them in going into govt and everything to be lost.

We all know from experience what happens to smaller party's in an unpopular govt come the next election, they'd be very foolish to put themselves in that position at this time in their history. Plus once you go into govt it can be thrown at you for ever , "remember what happened the last time you were in govt".

I Don ràte the SDs as anything more than your usual leftist party, vying for their share of that vote. I think by their stance as to not even being interested in seeing if they could combine with other left party's on policy issues in opposition as a statement in its own right, that they're only interested in what they feel is good for them in building their own popularity.

As you put it earlier,"benefit to society" is at present not in their plans at all, just benefit to SDs.

FF FG have failed in key areas because there never has been a credible challenge to that duopoly.
Soon as there was, both parties threw integrity to the wind, rotating Taoiseach being the latest, no matter what the seat situation is.

Said a few days ago they'd try this. They want another Green rump to divert attention. Independents will leave them exposed as they can only take a hit in their own constituencies.

It's making fun because it's comparatively bad based on the SF supporters criteria from previous elections and said posters fully understand the PRSTV system.

The comparison at the moment would be the flip-flopping occurring over which polls are relevant with some posters fully hoisted on their own petards but blind to see it.

Independents don't do snap elections - too risky and costly.

Plus they're very unlikely to be walking out en masse. Even if one or two of them decided they'd had enough the show would carry on…
