Confirmed again with aviva just there

"Covered to be towed home from anywhere in the 32 counties"

Worth being aware of , they said their cover is much better than others who only tow to nearest garage

    And where do you live?

I've had crazy quotes before for work on a BMW. It's definitely handy to have a mechanic pal or two to talk to about alternative solutions.

To supply and fit a Nox sensor a BMW specialist wanted 800, on auto doc it cost 250, and could fit myself, a pal in Australia who is a great mechanic and me with an obd reader on Facebook chat, it was a 100 euro lambda sensor that cost me 100 euro and I fitted.

You could do with a good oil mechanic who knows you, you go to regularly. Gets to know you and the car. Ask around people will recommend someone.

And auto doc for parts, just the issue is you ned a wait a week for them.

Was talking to a relative today who had other DPF problems. Just to confirm, the DPF light had never been on before, the only warning light was the glow plug, and I pulled in straight away.

I'm suspicious that the timing belt change might have something to do with it - maybe something was botched during that. As mentioned previously, if the DPF was in good condition before this, it might not actually be the underlying cause

I don't think his Facebook page will post correctly as a link.

Abi sorted out my 2012 Tiguan DPF with 373k KMS on it. Now has 395k KMS and it's still going fine. He is both mobile and bricks and mortar.

Have a look at many years worth of reviews on his FB site. I was very happy with his work.

    Give him a shout on 087 667 1871

If you are concerned that the garage may have caused this then tell them you want to initiate a claim for defective workmanship, insurance company will get an assessor and he will ascertain the root cause. Too much money involved here to ignore this possible route imo.

After all the money you have spent already, it's not unreasonable to think they may have caused this issue, I am not saying they have but it is an area worth exploring.

    Best of luck
